This store is a Ho to for all things hardware. So many times I'm in the middle of a project, need something and I pick it up here. Mike works the floor and is one of the most patient people who knows where everything is in the store. They have a Friendly and Helpful staff.

Unfriendly and not helpful. The guy in the paint department has a real attitude. A know-it-all. I'm new to the area and used to helpful hardware people. I've consistently been disappointed here .

BUYER BEWARE…Every time I reiterate my recent experience, which I do often because I’m still so taken aback, I am told “you HAVE to leave a Review!!” I agree, locals need to be in the know. And seeing other reviews of similarly awful experiences, I had to share. I do everything I can to Shop Local even tho I could get better pricing at big box Home Depots. But realize, not all “locals” are equal. Last weekend, my husband and I drove a few miles out of the way to buy $100’s in plants at A’s (local :). We even discussed our gardening project with the clerk at the register, all was nice and friendly. We drive home, open my trunk and realize before even unloading the plants that I picked up the wrong height Calla Lilys. So we drive back the 15 minutes to exchange the same amount of plants with the larger height plants we need, ready to pay the extra cost of course for the larger size. The now very unfriendly clerk barks “no returns!” I explain the fact that I simply picked up the wrong size plant (only 30 minutes ago). And obviously have the receipt (of only 30 minutes ago). I did not want a refund. I only wanted to exchange for the same plant, larger size, pay the difference. Human error. Didn’t have my glasses on to see the little tab that said “12” height” correctly. After a few hard “No Returns!” I asked calmly for the Manager whom I had also nicely greeted only 1/2 hour earlier. And again, am told by the Manager that under no certain terms and rude as rude can be - NO returns! NO exchanges! NO store credit! As I looked around for the cameras thinking I must be in a Seinfeld episode, I realized she was actually being serious. I somehow kept my composure explaining over and over again how I hadn’t touched the plants, I was a local, was a long time patron, had the receipt, had literally JUST bought them, etc.. etc.. However she kept firm. “Our policy is No Returns!” We left utterly bewildered. There are SOOO many obvious things wrong about this stance, I need not say much more other than Shame on A’s!! “A” should be for ATTITUDE and it’s a really BAD one here!! I’ll always try to shop local but only where it’s appreciated.

Horrible experiences at this store who conveniently call themselves A’s but they have an Ace hardware in the same lot. They won’t accept any coupons or discounts even a military discount. They said rudely I would have to go to the Pt Pleasant store. Some of the staff are very curt and unprofessional but others are very nice. The staff that have the hard job of loading were kind and courteous but Home Depot is more reliable. They also appreciate people that serve their country and give a military discount.

I can't understand these other reviews. I always have a wonderful experience at this store. The staff is friendly and always very helpful. I am there almost weekly and never had anything but a great experience. The younger staff that are on during the summer have a great hustle and are always helpful loading mulch into my car.
