Definitely not a fake review. The only fake reviews are from yourself and your friends. Seriously, scroll through the reviewer names, all connected to Ira.Original review: Ira is definitely the worst mechanic in the area. Not only did he take over a week to do a pretty standard brake job while promising it'll be done in a few days, but he has the audacity to charge me for time he spent figuring out how to do the brake job. I know this since he told me he drove over to his friend's shop to get advice. The entire disaster was nearly $1,000 - with me supplying all of the parts. Go to a normal place like Bergen Tire, Ron's, Wilsons or any of the other experienced shops in the area.

I walked into The Front End shop and spoke to a mechanic working on a vehicle to inquire how much for a front end alignment. He said,"$85". Not very friendly but he was working, fair enough. Several months later I drop the car off. I had spoken with someone over the phone who instructed me to leave a note since it was a Sunday and the shop was closed. About a week later I returned. The car was done but the fellow who did the repair wasn't there. The same surly guy was though and said I could take the car but leave my number. The owner called and said the price was $102.52 for the alignment, higher than $85 but parts and tax? I don't know. I wrote it down then mailed a check. Another week goes by and the owner calls me up to say that I made a mistake, the cost was $201.52.I went over to the Front End Shop to get a straight answer. The owner, Ira, explained that he must have inverted the numbers. I explained that I was still a little confused that the price went from $85 to $102.52 to $201.52. I wanted to know why? He explained that the other guy I had originally talked to wasn't working with him. That his base fee is $125 for an alignment, and he had to do some adjustments on the bolts to align it which was additional labor plus tax, thus the $201.52. He claimed he was only charging me for half an hour of his hourly fee. I'm sorry but $125 for an alignment is high to begin with. Actually $85 is high. The price is usually around $60 at most shops. It's just an alignment! To align the front end, adjustments have to be made by turning one side, then the other to align! I happen to know that the car I drive, a Volvo wagon has a rear alignment too. The four wheels can be adjusted independently if you want to get super technical about it. I would understand $201.52 price tag on a four wheel alignment, not that the job is particularly difficult, but it requires a machine which a typical garage doesn't have. So for the machine and the labor, which is about as simple as one can get for a mechanic, about $100 would be top end pricing for the front end job, and maybe $200 for the four wheel alignment. So I'm not happy with the bill nor the explanation. The business interaction was sloppy. Why didn't someone, the mechanic, the owner, some other human bother to explain the rather odd arrangement of this business? I mean, come on! If you walk into a store and you ask someone who is working there the price of something, you expect that by the time you get to the counter the price hasn't changed! And then, "oh, sorry, I inverted the price"? And then, the alignment is this much, but if I touch a wrench it's another fifty dollars!? You can't do an alignment without touching a wrench unless the car doesn't need an alignment in the first place! There's a problem with this shop, but it may be more pervasive than this one business. I've noticed that some small and medium sized businesses in Rockland county are operated by men who have lost touch with reality. They are under the mistaken idea that they alone can "fix it", and therefore they can charge whatever they damn well please. They present themselves as top mechanics or experts but their behavior and business acumen borders on criminal behavior. They are wrong to think that they can keep it up indefinitely.

I brought my tired old 2007 Prius (with 268K miles) into the Front End Shop in Mahwah NJ thinking that it might be a very expensive noisy transmission issue. The shop correctly diagnosed the issue as only a faulty wheel bearing. They fixed it promptly and at a fair price. What else could you want?Service: Steering & suspension repair

Hands down the best mechanic shop I've ever brought my vehicle to. I do most of my mechanical work myself since I dont trust most people who charge you for parts you dont need etc, but when I need a pro, Ira is my go to guy! Stands behind his work and knows what hes talking about.

Ira is awesome. I have been going to his shop for 20 years with my highly modified cars and daily drivers. He takes complete ownership of the project and enlists or refers others if the job is outside his scope.

Top-notch outfit, owned and operated by experienced pros. These guys really stand by their work and are excellent communicators. Extremely fair pricing, fast turnaround and no unnecessary up selling. They fix it if it's fixable rather than replace a bunch of stuff just because it's easier and more lucrative to do so (which seems to be the typical MO these days at most shops) Highly recommended -- worth your time and extra effort to travel a bit to get to Mahwah.

I ended up going here based on a family recommendation after a couple less than positive experiences at some other local shops. Anyway, the place isn't the most modern looking shop in town but it's run by a couple guys who have been in the business for a while and they know what they're talking about. Ira and Roger are no nonsense and will tell you like it is and that's exactly what I was looking for. I came in an had some exhaust work done and left with a sense that I'd use them again should the need ever arise.

I've used this shop for years. They do outstanding standard and custom work, timely and at a fair rate.
