Today, December 10, 2014 I was across the street in the shopping center. My car battery died and I was stuck without jumper cables. I asked around but no one had any. Someone suggested I go across the street to The Trans Shoppe and ask for help. I walked in and asked if I could borrow jumper cables since my car died. The woman went to the back and asked the owner, she came back and said "He will need a $10 deposit to make sure the cables come back." I said "Ill give you $20 to jump my car." I was really desperate since I had a 5 year old child coming home from school and needed me. She came back and said " The owner would need $40 to go across the street and work on my car." I thought, are you kidding me? I am a stranded person in the snow (yes, it snowed today) and you won't give a guy a hand for $20 ACROSS THE STREET!!!. I couldn't afford $40 so I asked to cables and would give the $10. The woman comes back, "He can't find the cables." What a jerk. After reading the other reviews on this site, I am not surprised. There are nicer mechanics out there. DO NOT GIVE THIS GUY THE TIME OF DAY.

Jeff (the owner) went out of his way to correct my problem on my Mercedes. I was going to get rid of it, but with his expertise I am still driving my beloved E Class with confidence. I hihgly recommend this shop!

I brought my car to the Trans shoppe because my regular mechanic said the transmission fluid was dirty. (No surprise since it had over 100,000 miles). I also felt it slipped once in a while. Their analysis called for a rebuilt transmission. $2600+ later I went to pick up the car. The person at the desk said, "By the way, we noticed that the right front rim is damaged. " Upon inspection I saw a four inch actual tear in the rim and the tire pressure was low. the alignment between the fender and door was also off. Five days before going to the Trans shoppe, the same mechanic who had done the check up, had also checked the tires and rims, since the shop specialized in tires. the car had been driven about ten miles between that check up and my taking it to the Trans Shoppe. The first mechanic confirmed my theory that there is no way one could do that much damage to the rim and not feel a bone jarring jolt. Obviously the damaged had been done by the Trans Shoppe. Can I prove it? Probably not. But I know who damaged it. If you cheat on the small things, $265, you probably cheat on the big things $2600+. I can never be certain that I received a $2600 transmission fluid change. Beware!!

I had the misfortune of blowing the clutch in my 2001 Audi a few towns over from Livingston. After calling around to a few local shops, the only one that would work on the car was the Trans Shoppe. Not only were they willing, they worked with me on which parts were going into the car, what I expected out of it, etc. The price was very reasonable for all of the work that had to be done, and they finished the day they said that they would. Jeff was aces; he answered all of my questions, even the dumb ones. While it doesn't look like much from the street, it's what a good shop should be.

I brought my 2001 Honda Civic to this mechanic because they specialized in transmissions and mine was blown. They took about a week to fix, which I was OK with, and they said they'd stand by their work for a year and then some, and to bring the car in after a week to make sure things were running smoothly. My car had to go back three times because it was leaking transmission fluid. Every time I got it back, it was fine for a day, and then I had to bring it back. The leaks stained my drive way and I had spent over $2,000 for a repair that took nearly a month to really be properly fixed. The owner got aggravated with me because I didn't understand how it takes 4 tries to get something that you specialize in right. He said he was just frustrated that it wasn't fixed, but his problem turned into mine. They ended up fixing it in the end, but the aggravation and loss of my car for so many weeks, plus their attitude, made me not want to return. While my car was there, I also got an oil change which they charged $40 for. I thought that was a little expensive for a basic oil change (I didn't know the cost prior, I thought maybe $20 - $30). They didn't do anything special, it was just a standard oil change. I don't plan on returning, unless something happens to my trans again that they're responsible for.
