Horrible customer service on 9/9/23. Very rude and unprofessional. The lone girl working never once looked in our direction to offer assistance. Went to Icing instead where we were greeted with professionalism.

We had our 18 month old daughter’s ears pierced today. Bernie was AWESOME. She was so gentle and sweet with our little girl, very thorough and careful in disinfecting everything before it touched her ears. Our girl didn’t even flinch when the piercing gun did its work. Highly recommend this Claire’s and ask for Bernie. Thanks again, our daughter looks so cute!!!

Summary: thoroughly depressing place to shop 2020 was the perfect storm for retail. Covid 19 put the squeeze on shopping malls that were already feeling the squeeze from the prevalence of online shopping such as Amazon. As a result, shoppers largely avoided malls - first due to tight government restrictions aimed at slowing down the spread of the virus, and later as a general reluctance set in even after restrictions were lifted. Despite this, other local malls have experienced decidedly rosier outlooks in 2020 and now into 2021. The Mills at Jersey Gardens still houses crowds of people every day. Even Newport Centre mall - while less crowded than years past - has a steady influx of shoppers (for evidence, try to find a seat in the food court at lunchtime). Livingston Mall in its heyday (I'd guess 90s? since I remember going here a few times as a kid) was definitely a nice place to shop. But now in 2021 it's a shell of its former self. The anchor stores (Sears and Lord and Taylor) aren't even operating anymore. The Macys interior seems more like a Kmart...disorganized, dark, old facilities, and empty. The other stores inside the mall are not much better. The whole facility would normally scream "please, refresh me!". Given the overall decline of shopping malls like this and it's far more likely this mall will die a drawn out and slow death. RIP Livingston Mall, thanks for the memories.

Growing up, this mall was the closest to where I live. I would visit here with my family and later hung out here with my friends. Unfortunately the times have taken its tole of this ml. At the time of this review, the mall does have many stores still but has lost both Sears and Lord and Taylor as its anchors. There is still a food court with many options and recently many outlet stores which has been beneficial to the mall. There has definitely been a change to this mall in both the stores and the crowds. I do still enjoy coming here, but to hang out or shop there are definitely other malls that have faired better. I hope this mall can gain new energy and survive these difficult times.

I would give this place -5 stars. My daughter got her ears pierced here 2 months ago and her earring swelled up and swallowed her earring. It was very very painful and we have to go to the doctor to check it out and make sure the cheap metal did not do too much damage to the ear. Extremely unhappy, please do not get your ears pierced from here, the workers have no idea what they are doing and the information they give you is minimal. Go somewhere else and make sure to do your research! We chose the earrings that would be taken out after 6 weeks and changed out for different ones. During the time we switched out the earrings, the worker gave no information as to how to care for the earrings.Side note:The worker put the earrings onto her ears way too tight. Her lobes were being suffocated and were very painful. The worker did not put the earrings on correctly(she used the clear backing on-top of the silver backing, leaving very little room for the piercing to heal properly.) My daughter did not remove anything or touch her earrings. The information given to us about good earnings and such was only what they wanted to sell. The earnings were poorly made and very cheap.Ear care information was little to none. They gave us a pamphlet and basically pushed us out the door.

I guess Livingston Mall is in transition. Many of the stores have left and a couple of their larger tenants, Sears included are teetering. There's a lot of vacant real estate almost to the point where it seems the emptiness outweighs those businesses that remain. This is a mall in decline and in need of serious rehabilitation. With Short Hills so close and a demographic that's comfortable patronizing the highest of the high end there, it's seems that the Livingston Mall is left to twist in the wind. The same could have been said of the Bergen Mall in Paramus before it was rebranded Bergen Town Center. The mall was dying until a few key off price/outlet retailers and Whole Foods marched in to save the proverbial day. Similar story with Paramus Park who just added a Stew Leonard's, which would do amazingly well in Livingston. I really hope something similar will happen here. It would be great to see them emerge stronger and flourish. Meantime, they have a Gap and a few other basics that warrant the infrequent visit. Hopefully more to come.

I watched this mall go thru its ups and downs. It's definitely a down period for this mall now. What a shame. When I first went there a longggggg time ago, this mall was sooooo crowded. During the Xmas season, the lot would be so full. I mean, you had to park in the last parking section. Now that lot is empty and used for storage. Over the last 40 years, This mall has lost of stores and most of this customers. The only place you see any people is in the food court area and only during the lunch hours. But that number has dropped drastically also. I feel bad for all stores in the mall losing money every day. The one person making money is the landlord SIMON PROPERTIES which is not right. They collect rent when these businesses are losing money every day. What is SIMON doing to help these retail stores? Help these stores before they all declare bankruptcy and close. This mall needs a serious makeover. It needs a couple of huge stores or even a movie theater to drive in customers. To watch this mall at its lowest point is very sad. After Apple Bees left this mall, so did most of its customers. This mall need bigger stores, more restaurants and definitely more customers.

Watch out for the manager at Claire's (tall, thin with dark hair). She has tons of attitude, doesn't listen and had no compassion/empathy. My daughter opened a necklace she was given as a present last night and it was broken. I went to Claire's in Livingston mall and told the manager I wanted to exchange it. I had the packaging but because I didn't have the receipt she said "no" and I would have to buy a new one. She said nothing in the store comes broken or defective and that my daughter must have broken it while I opening it. I was highly offended at how accusatory she was and also how out of touch she was. Every store in the world, at times, has defective products, especially a store where kids shop around and touch everything. What the manager doesn't know is that a good friend of mine is an executive at Claire's who will find out all about this rogue manager. In addition I have probably spend $1000 in Claire's in past 2 years and this was only a $6 necklace so was it really worth $6 to lose a good customer? I will never step foot in a Claire's again.

Mall ownership better start thinking on how to repurpose this space. Empty stores, 'meh' brands, few shoppers-say bye bye. Retail is getting slammed by online shopping, and middle of the road malls are the casualty.
