WARNING! This hospital can no longer be trusted for professional or compassionate care. The corporation that took over has severed ties with Dr. H, Dr. Sweeney, and their dedicated staff.
In August 2024, both of my dogs received check-ups, vaccinations, and tests. When I asked for a Trazodone refill in October 2024 for my nearly 18-year-old dog—who has been on anxiety medication for years—my calls and texts went unanswered.
After commenting on their social media post about being open for business, asking why my dog's urgently needed prescription wasn’t being refilled, I found myself blocked.
To make matters worse, Chewy declined my dog’s prescription because this company insisted on an in-person visit for a refill—less than nine weeks after her last appointment. It seems they prefer to prioritize profit over patient care.
I've also been waiting over a week for my dogs’ medical records, which have yet to be sent.

I get that this place has no staff now, but my cat needs her meds! I have been trying to get a refill for over a week and she is completely out of pills. This is completely unacceptable what am I supposed to do????

Not sure if ownership has changed, but I’ve received zero response. I’m a former client and have been trying for over a month to get in contact to schedule an appointment. I’ve booked online, called several times with no one picking up (and the voicemail box is full). I’ve also emailed. I’m done and moving on to a new vet. Such a shame as this used to be a great practice with an outstanding doctor we worked with.

It's been about a week since you guys have been closed. My dog, who suffers from epilepsy, has almost the same number of days without taking his pills. I need the medication as soon as possible, please, before he has an episode. The only e-mail that I have received from you so far says that we have to be patient, and you'd respond to requests through the week. Possibly by the end of it.
I understand that you have staffing issues, but we trusted in your service, and at least we need someone to take care of medications, especially if it exists in the file and medical records already. Thanks in advance!

Disgusting, rude, horrendous service from the front desk girl. She hung up on my mom mid-conversation all because she’s trying to get a prescription refill for our dog that has Cushings disease? Our dog was just in a few weeks ago for bloodwork and was told to come back in 6 months to repeat the bloodwork. So my mom called today to try to get her medicine refilled, and the girl just keeps saying “you have to bring her in and make an appointment” and my mom is asking “what do I have to bring her in for?” And the girl won’t give her an answer, hung up mid conversation as my mom was still talking , and won’t pick up her calls after she tried calling back multiple times. This is beyond unacceptable and occurred today on 10/11 around 10:45am.

I have been bringing my dog here for the past 3 years for skin allergies. Today I had an appointment I unfortunately missed due to work. I called and asked if another appointment was available later on or tomorrow. I was asked if I could come by right then. I live less than 10 mins away. So I agreed and headed over. Got there about 12:45. 10 mins or so later they were going to call me back but the staff first confirmed that we were just going to get the allergy shot and not see the doctor. I’d never been asked that before. The last two times I had brought my dog I spoke to the vet both times. So I said no I’d like to see to doctor as well. My dog has on going skin issues so I have questions and concerns. I was told I would have to wait after 3 people. So I agreed to wait. And wait patiently I did. After waiting about 40 mins I politely asked the receptionist how much longer it would be and was told they were coming to get us and a few minutes later we were called back. I spoke to the assistant for a few moments so she could gather information and then she told me the doctor would come. After sitting there for almost another 20 mins I started to worry. I had to get back to work. So I came out of the room to get someone’s attention in the office. I POLITELY asked the lady that was sitting in view how much longer I had to wait, that I’d been waiting awhile and had to get back to work. I was very rudely told they didn’t know, that I had showed up late and they had to squeeze me in because they didn’t have me scheduled for exam only for the shot. So I matched her rudeness and told her I let them know why I missed the appointment and THEY asked me to come in and I have never come and not talked to the doctor and there was obviously a miscommunication on how the appointment should have been scheduled.
I have worked in healthcare all my career as a practice manager and I would NEVER allow staff to speak to any patient that way. If I’m sitting here waiting patiently for a LONG time the least you can do is tell me before hand that I’m going to be waiting over an hour to see the vet and not be rude when I’m trying to figure out how much longer it’s going to take. She was so nasty I left and will never come back.
I called later on to try to get the practice managers information and they put me on hold then hung up. I texted the number for the contact information and they never responded. It would be a shame If that lady is the practice manager or some sort of supervisor. Not worth it to spend so much money on allergy medication and I was probably gonna have his bloodwork done today as well to be treated like they are doing me a favor? Plenty of vets offices out there with better bedside manners.

facility is owned by a corporation until recently two doctors , the former owners, were the only vets when one of them left the remaining vet refused to see the clients of the retired vet leaving former clients of the hospital like me to fend for themselves. I've had appointments with both of the former owners and while friendly they showed shortcomings in knowledge beyond the most basic of treatments.
Following the sale of the location to a corporation four or so years ago matters went downhill rapidly, four of the six doctors soon left due to a deteriorated work environment, everything was rushed and the demeanor of the doctor I used showed that she did not want to be there.
Clients with little or no knowledge of veterinary medicine may have appreciated the lower costs but I became increasingly aware of deficiencies in the doctors' knowledge.
Veterinary medicine has always been mostly a sham : the major causes of death in cats and dogs : cancer, heart disease, kidney and liver disease are almost always death sentences with the initial office visit being little more than finding out what will kill your animal. AHOL made the treatment less costly but the order of the day was to frequently suggest trips to specialty hospitals without a heads up on the massive costs or almost certain poor results. Eventually came to the conclusion that the vets were following a script of vets not down talking other vets.
Am not the only person to think that my former vet had changed and was no longer the person she had once been and that AHOL had gone downhill. A real crying shame that the place was sold for the monetary gain of the two owners.. It used to be a safe if imperfect haven, now former clients are barred and prospective new owners are turned away.
An unconscionable turn of events.

Both my pups actually like going to vet. (I think bc they know they get treats) but from a dog mom’s perspective, Doctor Sweeny is the absolute BEST! My older pup, Turner, I rescued from the streets of Newark when he was a puppy. We’ve been seeing her since the day I brought him home. He’s very scared of having his paws touched and she’s always very patient with him. Most recently Turner woke up with a huge blood filled pocket on his ear, a hematoma. I texted the office with a picture and they fit us in right away. Unfortunately, Turner wouldn’t let Dr. Sweeny touch his ear but he let me so she was able to get a peek. She scheduled his surgery for the next morning. She warned his ear would be a little deformed after but that he’d still be cute!!! When I picked him up he was happy sitting with staff. The next day they texted to see how he was doing and he had gotten his cone off and some of his hat. The staff told Dr. Sweeny and we worked through it together. They were all so helpful. I couldn’t imagine taking my boys anywhere else.

My two dogs have been patients of Linden Animal Hospital since they were puppies. We recently had a difficult time with one of our dogs. Dr. Sweeney was amazing. She is doing much better thanks to all of the care that Dr. Sweeney provided. I cannot thank them enough for staying in contact with me via text message and following up on our dogs health. Their concern really helped us when we were at a loss. This is an amazing group and we are very thankful to have them as our pet care providers.

I have been coming to Dr. H. for approximately 4 years now and I cannot say enough good things about her and the Animal Hospital of Linden! Dr. H. is ALWAYS, ALWAYS KIND, PROFESSIONAL AND COMPASSIONATE! My 5 dogs were and are my children! Never once have we ever felt that she was not giving our boys the best care!! Even during the pandemic when we sadly had to put our cocker spaniel down, and we were not allowed inside, she arranged for us to be outside so we could be with our boy right till the end!! Just recently our older dog was diagnosed with diabetes and she called me IMMEDIATELY and brought us right in to help him! For us there is NO ONE BETTER FOR OUR BOYS! She is beyond smart and knowledgeable and treats each animal as if they are her own! I cannot begin to sing her praises enough! THANK YOU DR. H. FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK AND LOVE YOU HAVE SHOWN TO US AND OUR BOYS!! Scott and Janine
