I’m sad I have to make this post considering I’m a people pleaser and hate writing bad reviews/confronting anyone, but I’ve been crying over this for the past few days because nothing sucks more than a bad haircut simply because someone didn’t respect your own autonomy.I went in for a color and haircut with Nicole. I’ve gone to her in the past and I drive a 30 minute drive each time simply because this place has good reviews and it’s clean. I’m not sure why I truly keep going back however, when I’m always not fully satisfied and feel uncomfortable. The color that was done was fine. I went from an old balayage to my root color (brunette). Nicole said I would have to come in a few weeks because my ends didn’t take in the color, & i was fine with it getting it recolored later someplace else since I understand a “blonde” end will probably be lighter with the brown dye than my already brown roots, I suppose. Something I have noticed with Nicole however is she’ll almost purposely do a half aced job so you HAVE to come back. I noticed this when I went in for a balayage last year with my untouched, virgin brown hair. I wasn’t expecting immediate blonde hair, but I didn’t expect her to put a total of what looks like 6 strands of highlights. Wasted 200$. I was stupid enough to come back like she said to do another balayage and i TOLD her I wanted a blonde balayage from the start. She didn’t think it was fitting and so she gave me what she calls “bronde” and essentially just more of the highlights. She told me to come in the summer “to make it blonder” (this was in March of 2023). I was done paying 200$, but she still claims balayages are “low maintenance”.All of this leads me to the real thing that broke the camel’s back, the haircut. For reference, my hair reached right under my breasts. I told her i wanted 90’s layers, but that I was very emotionally attached to the length of my hair so to please just keep it mostly long with long layers. I’ve done this cut myself and have seen other stylists do it too so I wanted to get it done professionally. She then proceeded to insult my hair and tell me to let it go. For context, I was aware my hair was damaged and I brought this up to her, but that I didn’t care because I waited really long for the length. It’s my body at the end of the day and I prioritize my length, stringy or not. I don’t understand what’s with hair stylists and them feeling like they can do whatever they want just because they think “it’s best” after specifically asking them not to. I should have just left at that point. I highly regret not doing so. She claims the length she gave me is the same as the picture, it is not. She also claims that it wouldn’t look as voluminous if it stayed on the longer side, but I didn’t care. She however didn’t even let me speak, she talked over me. Instead of giving me what I asked for she gave me what I can best describe as a choppy mid length mullet looking thing. It is so ugly and I’m convinced it’s the only type of cut she knows how to do because I went to her for a haircut last year and she gave me the exact same haircut. I thought this time would be different especially after trying to advocate for my hair a bit, but I was obviously mistaken. I really did try to put trust in her as much as possible, but now my self esteem is in the gutter for being nice. Every person who has seen my hair has asked why I was so stupid. Now i’m spending $ on anything possible to just grow my hair out. The worst part is, I finally got a good look at it in the mirror and it’s not even to begin with. When she was done I gave a fake smile, said it was nice and still handed her a tip and bawled my eyes at home. She gossiped about her coworkers not getting her food, yelled at her boyfriend while doing my hair, and overall made it a rude and hostile environment. This is common there and not enjoyable at all, it’s very uncomfortable and weird. She should also cut her nails given she stabs me in the head with them every time from being so rough. I am truly done with this place. what i got vs wanted

Eliana aka El, is owner/operator of Lox Salon. She and her team are honestly the best! The salon is very clean and pretty. El is very knowledgeable when it comes to color, her cuts are always spot-on (I usually give her the freedom to do what she thinks is best for my hair and I'm never disappointed). She did my updo and makeup for my wedding and it came out perfect. I highly recommend Lox.

Nichole did an amazing job on my hair. It’s been a year since anyone has touched it and was so dark and flat. Nichole said she would do a balayage to help blend the color first before helping me back to my blonde hair but she exceeded my expectations!!!!! 10/10 recommend!

Nichole Kiamie was fantastic. My hair came out absolutely stunning. She is amazing at color and cut I will definitely be coming to her from now on. This is my second time and it came out better than I ever imagined. I did highlight first time and balayage this time and both came out beautifully. Definitely 100% suggest going to lox and Nichole for color

i was looking forward to donating my hair for my birthday so i booked it for 3pm today (booked it a week ago) but i had to wait for it to get confirmed by the stylist so i decided to reschedule it for today @ 12pm instead. when it got confirmed, i got an email saying my appointment for 12pm is confirmed but because this is my first time donating my hair, i wasn’t sure if i needed to bring anything to my appointment so i called a day in advance just to be sure. when i called to confirm what i needed for my appointment, i was asked to give my name and time of the appointment so i said my name and that my appointment is @ 12pm. whoever was on the phone tells me that my appointment isn’t until 3pm so i asked if i just come in @ 3pm instead and she said yes. i show up today to my appointment at 3pm, like i was told to do so and turns out, it was for 12pm so i was put as a no show and now, im going to be charged for 50% of the service for a “no show”. this is very upsetting and so unfair.Service: Haircut

I’ve been blonde my entire life, for some reason the stylist colored my hair dark and she doesn’t know how to blow out hair. Can’t wait to find another salon where they actually listen to how you want your hair done. I’ve also heard from other people who had the same experience.Services: Blowouts

Had a great experience at the Lox. All the stylists are friendly and make you feel comfortable. It is like having a day out with the girls, even though you don't know them. The flowing conversation makes a long process enjoyable. I showed a picture of what I wanted and got exactly that. I needed my gray hairs covered, but also wanted a touch of blonde. It came out great, got a trim as well and my blowout looks and smells great! Highly recommend. I went with Eliana, but would trust any of them with my hair ❤️Services: Hair highlighting

I was so looking , forward to my haircut and its so sad that it went so wrong, I truly hate leaving negative reviews , but when after haircut I look like I have no hair at all and I cannot stop crying , I have to leave a honest review. My daughter , on another hand had a decent hair cut today , with another hairstylist , but the hairdresser spoke with the other stylist , and her client, all the time and paid 0 attention to my 11 year old, plus she was using some inappropriate words in front of her , when describing her old boss in the conversation. She also was not very gentle and did not even noticed that my daughter was in pain when she was using hot hair dryer. As for me I have a thin hair and frankly after todays haircut I look like a boy and it will take me months , if not a year, to recover and grow my hair out and I look just awful! I asked a shorter cut and layers ( but not to short) and now I just have an awful short hair at the back , just like a chunks taken out, and long hair at the front that looks so out of place and honestly never have I ever cried so much after the visit to the hair salon. Hairdresser just went off to cut almost all of my hair, without considering how unflatering the cut will look on someone like me and after looking at he picture like for a second what I want she decide that she can take about 3 -4 inches. She pulled my chair away from a mirror so I could not see the end result until she was done.Off to the wig store as I trully just hate looking at my hair at the moment .Update to address owners reply: To add to my comment above I did left a better review originally as I know that its a small business and every review matters but after I cried all night I have to say how I truly feel. The stylist looked at the picture for 4 secs max and I have to live of what she done to my hair and no I did not asked that short. I can send it to you too , and also the picture of an actual cut, if you care to see and what my hair looks like ( or what is left of them). As for my daughter - again maybe ask your staff what truly happened! I can tell you what salon she worked before and what her boss was like. When my daughter later said , what she actually said,I was appalled. Anyway all the best, you clearly did not investigated and do not care of what the clients think based on your reply. Happy Holidays! And the final reply to the owner. I understand that you stand behind your staff and its perfectly fine, they are your team and I would do the same, at the end of the day, I am the client who will never came back and they are your hard working people that you see every day. If you were there I am surprised you did not intervened the chat and so I am clear are you saying you saw what I showed to the stylist and you 100% sure same was delivered? I can assure that its not the case! But anyway , I will cry for another 2-3 months and frankly my hair will regrow and eventually I will feel like a lady again, so yes there will be happier 2023 ! All the best to you and your team !Services: Kids' cuts

I've been a client at Lox for about 2 years now and seriously will not let anyone else touch my hair. Nichole is absolutely amazing at color and cuts--over the last year and half, Nichole has been able to take my hair from bright box dye red (a covid quarantine decision lol) to a beautiful, dimensional blonde with minimal damage to my hair. She always explains her process and takes her time to ensure my hair comes out perfect. The salon's prices are also very reasonable. I've never left Lox unsatisfied!
