I hesitated to post anything because I like to focus on the positive, but here's my story and the ultimate reason for my 1 star review. My cousin's husband (I considered him my cousin as well since they were married before I was born) passed away & was cremated through this funeral home. I purchased 3 memorial frames with a vial to hold the ashes of the deceased for my cousin and her 2 children. I even put the photos in all of the frames before giving these memorial gifts to the family. After giving the frames & obtaining permission from my cousin (the widow), I went to the funeral home 2 days BEFORE the funeral to drop off 3 of the 1 inch METAL vials (1 for each frame that held a 1/4 of an eye dropper worth of ashes). I left the frames with my cousin & arrive at the funeral home with ONLY the 3 SOLID METAL vials & asked the woman at the front desk if they could have the ashes put in the vial before the funeral mass 2 days later. She told me she would need to obtain permission from the widow which was totally understandable. I had permission already so I knew that wasn't going to be an issue. But then she hits me with a $50 fee. I have given this cremation gift many times, over many years (most times just the memorial locket or similar vial sans frame) & NEVER once was I charged for the service of dropping less than an eye droppers worth of ashes in these vials. She said it wasn't them & that they were charging me for insurance reasons (I call BS) She tries to say that if they broke the, solid medal vial I could sue them (insert annoyed eye roll here). If you've ever seen these vials, you could run them over with a Mack truck & it wouldn't even dent the surface. Then she offers that with permission from my cousin they could add the $50. to the family bill (REALLY? & UHM JUST NO!!!) Just an added FYI, I've done this with a friends ashes for his wife (1 vial); my mom's ashes (6 vials) to give to multiple close family members; my uncle (mom's brother 4 vials) & most recently with my sister's ashes (5 vials) & not 1 funeral parlor in either New York or New Jersey charged me a single penny for this service. My annoyance turned to irritation when they refused to take my credit card (she tells me they had a minimum $100. charge amount. Are you freaking kidding me?) I told her that these mercenary practices were bad enough but to NOT take my credit card because they didn't want to pay the CC fee was ridiculous (because let's be honest here, this is the ONLY reason they have yet another money grubbing minimum). I bet if my order was $100. their minimum would have been $150. SMH!! I left pretty ticked off when I had to go find an ATM to withdraw the $50. in cash. Fortunately there was one close by. I drop off the cash & although irritated I left ready to put the entire headache behind me. So imagine my surprise, not long into my drive home, that I got a tear filled, apologetic phone call from my recently widowed cousin crying about how sorry she was "for my trouble" & an offer to pay me back the $50. I was horrified and had to take multiple deep breaths to remain as calm as possible so that as lovingly as I could, I told my cousin it wasn't a problem at all & to please NOT to give this a second thought. It was my gift to them & I wouldn't think of being reimbursed for this. I was just so sorry that the woman called her with this. I hung up as irritation turned to outright fury that this inappropriately heartless woman CHOSE to burden a recent widow with this unnecessary literal NONSENSE. My cousin, who had so much to deal with, after JUST LOSING HER HUSBAND did NOT need this crap, yet this A$$ covering P*$$y A$$ B**ch employee, probably afraid I would call my cousin and complain (which since I'm NOT a heartless monster I NEVER would have done) Yet under the guise of "acting" sympathetic with "oh we're so sorry your cousin was so upset" couldn't let the fact that

My father recently passed while in Florida. The remote scenario presented complications which Sherry and co quickly resolved. Many reviews about the DeGraff folks describe the compassion and kindness that these folks display. Those words only begin to describe the DeGraff crew. They went above and beyond multiple times while helping my family deal with a most trying time. Five stars is not enough for their rating. I would certainly recommend the DeGraff folks if in need of their services.

I highly recommend DeGraff Funeral home. I recently had my grandmothers service there and the family that runs DeGraff couldn’t have been more accommodating. Trying to make arrangements while mourning is extremely difficult and DeGraff’s team is completely understanding of that fact. Their experience shows in their professionalism and the way they are so aware of just what you need to put you at ease. It is not an easy job and I applaud everyone at DeGraff for all the work they do with families during the grief process. Thank you so much for putting up with our chaotic family to create such a beautiful memorial which, in turn, gave us a great final memory with our Gram. You guys are the best!❤️
