The worst company to rent a van a lady told me a price in Spanish so there was no way to get confused but at the end of the day this company charged for everything even they charged men10$for gas even diesel is not that expensive…so my recommendation is not use this company.

If you rent a truck from Penske Kearny, be sure to take your own photos of the vehicle exterior, interior and gauges showing fuel level and mileage before start of rental and at the end of the rental. Or better yet, just avoid this location altogether. I suspected Kearny Penske was overcharging me for mileage and/or fuel after my first two rentals but I had no proof. During my third rental, I took photos of the gauges at the start and end of the rental and sure enough they overcharged for both fuel AND mileage totaling almost $60, and when I called them out on it they acknowledged that I was correct, but then infuriatingly only reimbursed me for half that amount. Soon after this incident, they tried to invoice me for over $1,600 in repairs. When I called them out on that, they threw out the invoice. They then apparently invoiced me incorrectly for repairs again for almost $400, but I never actually received this invoice and they sent it to collections (which is when I found out about it). In neither of the above cases did they call me about the alleged repairs. They simply mailed invoices out clearly hoping I'd just pay them and not ask any questions. I can only assume they didn't reach out because they knew they were trying to scam me and if they did have a conversation with me I'd contest them. See the other review here for this location by Jessica -- she states she was also overcharged after her rental by $70. I called them on May 16, 2022 about the second bogus repair invoice that went to collections and they acknowledged again that they made a mistake, and that the manager would take care of it. He didn't. When I called back again on June 9, 2022, the manager was incredibly rude and dismissive about it, at first claiming he didn't know what I was talking about and couldn't find the invoice "in the system". When I didn't accept his pathetic excuses and let him off the phone, he eventually found it and at first claimed he didn't remember anything about the issue. When I pointed out why that was impossible, he did then acknowledge he remembered something about it and would take a course of action to remedy the situation that I was told was going to be followed the month prior. Obviously at this point since he never followed through the first time, and because of all of the overcharges, I had zero trust left so I escalated to the North Bergen facility where I spoke with people who were clearly educated and made it clear that the above repeated fraudulent charges were entirely unacceptable, and that this manager's behavior was not compatible with or representative of Penske as a company, and that these issues would be investigated. Until I am informed about the conclusion of that investigation, I will repeatedly escalate these issues to the corporate level as it seems highly unlikely that I am the only person they've attempted to do this to. In fact, the brazenness with which they repeatedly tried to overcharge me in every way they could leads me to believe they not only do this often, but they get away with it enough times it's worth the hassle of dealing with those individuals or companies they aren't able to con.

The staff at this location were decently nice, no complaints from that.The cleanliness of the truck that I received from this location was not good. First of all, the dash fell off when I hit a bump on the highway. I'm not sure why this was acceptable, considering the duct tape marks were still on the dash from the prior rental so Penske obviously removed the tape and decided not to fix the loose dash. I taped it back up like the renters before me. The truck was full of food, trash, and cigarette butts from previous rentals. Plus the seats and radio knobs were sticky. I don't expect an old truck to be spotless, but given that this was during COVID I would have expected a bit more effort. Again, this location should have checked that before renting it out.The truck had some mechanical issues halfway through our trip, but Penske Roadside Assistance was able to get us a repairman in the middle of nowhere. They were probably the only reason I didn't give 1 star. Oh also the back of the truck leaked water when it rained so bring some towels to put over any furniture you have in the back.Also, I just got an additional $70 charge from Penske about 3 weeks after my rental with no email or call as to why. Thanks Penske!

Great place for your rental needs, the process was easy and fast. Adam was very informative. Good quality service & more affordable than any of their competitors
