Clean place , nicely set up, the music is good and not too loud.
The staff keeps the machines in great working condition and if needed they are repaired quickly and professionally.
As for the staff the cleaning crew is awesome and the front desk people are amazing. Shout out to both Desiree and Jamonte, as they are both friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommended, go see for yourself!

This gym is literally a fraud. I cancelled my membership and I still get charged even though I was told cancellation was successful. Sometimes there’s random people that don’t work there pretend to work at the check in counter telling you to pay $100 to get it cancelled, that happened to me recently! Be careful with this fraud gym.

This company, this location, are CRIMINALS AND CROOKS!!!!!! They only let you cancel your membership in person (which was an inconvenience being my gym in Hoboken closed suddenly while I was out of country) and when I returned they transferred me. I dropped off the form in January to someone who claims they couldn’t find me in the system but would take care of it. They then processed my card again for another 5 months after over 20 hours of phone calls/being on hold. They have a third party payment system who is based out of country and didn’t understand the process. They then put me in collections for a gym I never went to.
Don’t sign up here. Don’t give your money to Retro fitness. They should be reported to bad business bureau. Absolute scam company.

Requieres a bank account to sign up. Huge red flag.
Edit: Requiring a bank statement is not standard procedure. It’s so they can fraudulently bill you when you cancel because Debit transactions are much harder to stop than credit. Extremely shady and unethical business practice.

Retro fitness (440 location) while a smaller retro , have alot of equipment and workers who have a passion for what they do. Never have I felt not at home at this gym. Love to come here energy is always there.

I arrived to try this gym out. Waited forever for the one attendant to return to the desk, then 10 minutes longer as he answered endless questions from 2 women on the price of various water bottles. Then I left to find a gym with some respect for my time.

It's insane!!! Supposed to open at 7am. It's 8:40am and a guy just showed up. Things keep getting worse and worse. I took a picture I don't wanna post it.

Management is terrible, never there to answer questions. Front desk staff unhelpful and simply refers to management "who will be there [three days from now] at [short time frame]"avoid like the plague--go to another gym that values you as a customer.

Avoid this place at all costs. They are doing what almost all gyms do and refuse to cancel your membership. Brought in a letter from a doctor on January 19, to cancel my membership. Was told I would be refunded in 7 days and my membership would be cancelled. Look at my bank in Feb and was charged again. Call the gym and was told they have my letter but my membership is still active. Was told it would be cancelled and a refund would be given in 7 days again. I log in the app today and it shows my membership still active. I call the gym and told once again they have my letter but the manager never cancelled my membership. And he/she is the only one that can cancel. Was told to call back tomorrow. Please people avoid this place.

This could be a great gym. It is big, good location and plenty of parking. It really needs to be better managed. They are always late to open and don’t even care when they show up. Equipment is not maintained, cleaned or timely fixed when broken. Weights are never re-stacked. There is always trash and water bottles on the floor. The men’s room urinal has been broken for months wrapped in plastic with an out of order sign. Tanning booth has been out of order for years with an unsatisfactory health department certificate posted on it. Obviously the owner and the manager don’t care about the member’s experience. They used to open at 5 am during the week which was great to get a workout in before work but they changed to 6 am so I got Planet Fitness membership for week days. Planet Fitness is open on time, clean, maintains equipment. Retro needs to really take a hard look at its operations. Stop investing in unnecessary new treadmills and fix your dysfunctions.
