I feel sorry for the people who work at this place because the shoppers abuse them .The most irate Customers I have ever seen with mental issues seem to gather and shop here on a daily basis. I witnessed people trying to steal items out of this store, customers who insult and threaten bodily harm to the workers for absolutely no reason,.As a customer ,expect other shoppers to insult you. Maybe it's the high prices at the Xtra Supermarket that make them angry. There is usually a homeless person or a hustler holding the door for you outside .

HORRIBLE.I placed an online order and they sent me the wrong thing; I was told I couldn't return it here, the employee didn't know how to do it. This is insanity, family dollar is stealing my money

I bought a box of zingers 7/25/23 I got home that night and before I realized they were old (1/24/23) I had opened the box. I didn’t go back the next day, cause we had a storm. 7/27/23 II returned to the store and asked (nicely) for an exchange ( here’s we’re things turned). The cashier started speaking Spanish to the other girl working, I asked her again was she going to exchange it or refund my money. She finally said in English she had to call a manager. By this time I’m getting upset, I waited a few minutes then she said no the manager it’s going to refund me or exchange it ( get this) because I took it home and had it for 2 days). Now I’m losing my temper. I said your going to do something, now she starts talking Spanish again, and ignoring me, so I grabbed a another box and started walking out. I said to myself no that’s stealing, so I walked back in and asked her again for an exchange, now she doesn’t even want to talk to me,she’s talking to the other girl in Spanish, of course, so I asked the other girl what she was going to do she said she wasn’t going to do it. I left again so this time she follows me out. Again I go back in the store, but this time I’m really pissed, I’m talking to customers and she catches an attitude and started taking it out on the customers ( she should’ve done that). One of the ladies in line paid for her stuff and the cashier threw the change at the lady and would not hand it to her like she handed it to her. I just knew it was going to be a fight. This cashier has a bad attitude not only that day but always. If a Spanish person comes in she is nice and polite I have to call it like I see it she is a racist. I will not shop there anymore. 1 Love

I'm giving them 3 stars for every employee that's been pleasant and professional over the years. Regrettably, not all of the staff have proper training or even basic manners.The woman at the cash register was rude from the outset and did not know their store was to begin loading prepaid cards today and responded with a "I work here!". Then the guy she called out to had even MORE attitude and they both talked nonsense in Spanish, assuming I couldn't understand them.All he needed to say was, "I'll speak to my manager about these new updates, but I'm sorry we can't assist today". He attempted to ignore me when I told him the notifications from their partner vendor went out already. I literally had to ask him to be polite and demonstrate professionalism. Zero professionalism from both of them.Now for the unbelievably annoying and unprofessional security guard. This man MUST be trained as soon as possible. He stalks certain customers and is extremely aggressive in his approach. He makes no effort to communicate with people who are not Spanish-speaking. This store needs better management and a hefty dose of customer service training.

Terrible place ! There’s a lady with red hair with an extremely bad attitude she works in the morning she’s rude and nasty the security guard does absolutely nothing if you aren’t black ! He even speaks Spanish to the other employees about you to your face ! He is racist and very judge mental terrible store if you don’t have to go don’t go the supermarket next door has all you need

I disregard all the negative reviews this family dollar is under new management and has done a 360 it is clean and the shelves are stocked new freezer and fridge they have new cashiers that are very polite especially Jocelyn she is new I believe she is well trained and very helpful comes out her way to help her customers the store is always neat and clean I have no complaints and I am a regular customer because i’m walking distance to this location on the other hand the family dollar on bergen avenue and communipaw needs is the totally opposite to this store the lines are long but it’s a lot of customers and three cashiers give them a break they are improving little by little

I shop here all the time and my last interaction caused me to properly review this place. The security guard is never paying attention when you need him unless you're black, then he's trying to make sure you're not stealing. It's completely racist because the only time I'm not bothered by him is if I walk in with my white wife. Then at the register the cashier was having trouble charging my card because the card reader was broken. He then instead of suspending the transaction and moving us to a different resister, he then aggressively takes my wife's debit card and almost snaps it in half to put it in the card reader. When we told him to stop bending the card he started bending it farther. Then he calls us incompetent in Spanish and walks away. This is disgusting behavior and should never be tolerated.

It's funny how you people at the store in the blacks can't get the same treatment as others SAD and don't tell anyone that at the store on the black side of town you can't add any cash to your cards another 3 more miles to the next black store just for them to tell me that there don't work but this is SAD just like charging for cash back SAD......
