DO NOT GO TO THIS DUANE READE PHARMACY! The worst experience last night. I faithfully come here to receive my vaccinations usually given to me by the male doctor. Last night was the worst experience! I was greeted by a very rude female doctor. I express to her that I had an appointment, and wanted to know if I could still receive it. Very rudely and unprofessional she yells across to me, "WELL YOU SHOULD'VE CALLED AND LET SOMEBODY KNOW YOU WERE GOING TO BE LATE." I've never been so rudely spoken to by someone in my life. Walgreens Corporate you really need to evaluate who you have serving the public. So my advice to you is to go somewhere.

Tried to get a flu shot here. For some reason they wanted an appointment. For some reason the appointment had to be made two days in advance. Then when I showed up they said "sorry, our internet is down so we can't give you your flu shot." I don't understand what part of a flu shot requires internet access.I waited another day and they still had no internet. So I went to CVS and they took me as a walk-in and did the whole thing in five minutes.Next time I need a vaccine I won't waste my time here.

This is the weirdest Duane Reade: a decent enough size yet often out of stock of regular things like aluminum foil, gatorade, creamer, OTC meds. It's a super convenient location and I think they know it; management clearly doesn't care or is not well trained. The usual cashier is very nice but I've seen customers be rude to her over stuff that isn't her fault. The store is understaffed and under stocked. I bought the last tin foil roll the other day and it was disgustingly covered with sticky stuff on two sides (didn't notice til I got home and put my hand in the bag to put it away). Yet they carry a huge selection of cereals. They lock up a lot of stuff, like the regular size laundry detergent. I've never gotten someone to unlock anything in a timely manner. It sucks that they're the only option for several Newport buildings.

I went to get a vaccine. The pharmacist lady who looked middle eastern was not competent enough to process my insurance and on top of that she was rude. Went to CVS in Target where they told me vaccine WAS covered by my insurance. Maybe they need to get people who can do their job. -1 for rudeness -2 for not being able to process insurance for vaccines. CVS in target also looks much cleaner :).

I was surprised by attitudes that those two foreign female pharmacists showed. When I was trying to return on medications I picked up a few hours ago due to mistake, they said it wasn't their fault in the beginning instead of stating on company policy, which I understand. But, then pharmacy manager came on and saying "this is ridiculous", she seemed to be quite emotional, rather than being rational and professional. Also, she did not clearly explained about instructions for new medications, which she admitted and apologized right away. I ended up calling insurance company and got refunded in 10 mins, but I am glad that I finally decided to go with shipping my medications, instead of picking up from the store. I am not a fan or reviewer person, but wanted to share my experience with others to let know of better alternatives. If you live near Newport area, I would highly recommend visiting CVS at Target, where I noticed they were much more professional (which everyone should have expected), clearer communications.

I hesitated to post this, but decided I had an obligation to do so. A few months back, I had a very negative experience involving an opioid Rx with Duane Reade at 52 River Side S in Newport Plaza, NJ. After surgery, I was prescribed a full-week Rx for an opioid. I was understandably scared about using this drug for a week, so I cancelled the Rx, which clearly annoyed the pharmacist. However, by the next day the pain was intense, so I called the pharmacist and asked her to fill only half of the Rx, but she filled and billed me for the entire full-week supply. I am sorry to have been an annoyance for her, but Duane Reade should understand the significance of taking opioid drugs and should be more understanding of patients' fears on this issue.

The pharmacists and assistants are so friendly and knowledgeable at this location- I always feel well taken care of here and they know you by name after a few visits. It feels like a great neighborhood pharmacy. I wouldn't go elsewhere to have my prescriptions filled. Plus the store has pretty much everything else you might need to stay healthy!

Stopped in here to the photo center - they can take passport photos, they have terminals to help make the photo books, etc. I ordered online, one photo print, and they had to start the print job when I arrived (since I paid in-store at the counter). Hopefully with bigger print jobs they have that started (I'd be ok paying ahead of time). They say it's about 30 min from the order placing to get to the store. Allow for extra time to be in line and wait for printing.

I supposed this is one of those businesses that will still survive even if all reviews were -100. Don't even know where to start. Maybe that the hours keep getting worse and worse? Seems the big question is why have the old farts created an environment where only other old farts can thrive. Or the real question, why is the public too d*** to see the underlying surroundings and keeps voting for those that empower this???

In the year 2018 I can't believe you can walk in a store and be immediately profiled and treated like a criminal by your appearance!! I am extremely disappointed in the behavior of the staff in this location. I live in the Newport area and work in Midtown Manhattan I take the Path daily to and from work today Feb 17 2018 I was coming from work and decided to stop at this Duane Reade. My husband and his cousin who are Puerto Rican came in after me. My husband was dressed in a fitted hat and a hoodie he did not need to purchase anything he was just waiting for me and his cousin. His cousin purchased cigarettes. I purchased my water and chips and I hear an associate tell my cashier "Those Guys we're trying to rob the store" my cashier then asked what guys and she pointed at my husband and his cousin. It is extremely disappointing and sad that in today's society you are automatically labeled a criminal by the way you look. I will never shop at this Duane Reade and I would encourage anyone that has been discriminated by the way you look to make sure you do not allow these companies and employees to treat you like a criminal based on your appearance. I often visit Duane Reade in Midtown Manhattan and I have never experienced something like this. When we confronted the staff they made it seem like we did something wrong. No apologies, they refused to give any business cards so we could not file a formal complaint and all the associates acted as if they had no clue why my husband and I were so offended. The worst part of the experiences that all of the associates in that Duane Reade could have easily discriminated by their ethnicity and look yet non of them could apologize and say they were wrong. This is client experience at its worst!
