“Robin was great in explaining to me exactly what the potential bike repairs were for and all the options if I wanted to upgrade. The repairs were done in an hour and it looks as good as new. I will definitely come here again!

I just went to see Robin again about bike that needs a lot of repairs. He was extremely detailed in explaining to me exactly what was wrong and the pros/cons in buying a new bike or repairing the old one. It's such a good feeling to know that I have a reliable neighborhood bike store!”
“I live in Florida and purchased a bike from NJ on Pinkbike. The seller had a great relationship with this shop and dropped the bike off for a pre-ship inspection. I was able to Facetime with the owners, Lou and Andrea, to go through the bike and make myself a little more comfortable with the long distance purchase. Not only were they comforting and reassuring during this process, Andrea took extra time to find the best shipping options and truly cared about my experience even knowing I am over 1000 miles away. These are true business owners and you can't put a value on exceptional customer service! I’m skeptical about most shops, I walk in here and I know I will be taken care of. It’s family runned, black-owned and has the coolest bike facility I’ve ever witnessed. “Bicycle Roots is one of those special shops where they aren’t interested in shallow transactional exchanges but instead invest themselves in building a deep relationship with you and your experience riding your bicycle. I’ve worked with the shop on two custom builds: my beloved Ritchey Outback gravel bike and my sturdy Surly Long Haul Trucker. In both cases I was struck not only by the quality and meticulousness of the craft they poured into the build, but also by the patient communication they put into making sure I understood every key decision they were making, giving me context to help me steer things in a different direction when I was confused, and helping me have peace of mind that the choices we landed on were choices that would serve me for years of seeking joy on my bike. This kind of deep personal involvement, in which the mechanics are not only knowledgeable, but eager to share their knowledge with you in a generous and empowering way is all too rare in bike shops. It takes a level of humility and kindness one is lucky to come across in one’s friends, not to mention a commercial relationship. I feel lucky to count the staff at Bicycle Roots as my friends, and I hope that if you’re reading this, you take the time to invest as deeply in the shop as I have done. “Can't recommend this place enough. Riding for 10+ years, never got a fit. Got a fit done with Greg and learned a ton as we played around with my setup on their custom fit machine/tech. Fit had amazing results on performance and comfort.
I also asked for recommendations to upgrade my current ride or for a new bike entirely, and Greg came back with a range of options across groupsets, wheelsets, and new rides.
Fast forward a few months, I got all the upgrades recommended for my existing ride and it's a totally different bike. Super comfy, fast and responsive. Can't ask for more. They even recommended a great (my new favorite) bike shop in the area, Tuned, to help do the install.
Overall 10/10 experience cant recommend these guys enough. If you are thinking about working with Acme, do it. You won't regret it!”

“These guys are my permanent cycling shop now. I get great cycling education by Chris every time I come. They helped me with a warranty replacement for a bike that I didnt even buy from them. Another time I needed a tune up on a Cannondale supersix eveo. But the time they were done the bike actually rode better than when I bought it new. When the replacement frame came they set up the bike the exact same way that the original bike was. I t was like riding my old bike but much smoother. I been to a lot of different bike shops. If had to compare bike shops , its like going from a GM dealership to a Mercades dealership. I wn both types of cars so that comparison is 8s from experience. I have full confidence in every mechanic and technician that works there. I don't desire a particular person because they are all good. Just try them out im telling you, you will not be disappointed.”
“I went in today to this bike shop instead of the one on 32nd street near Dominos based on reviews alone. The owners were super nice!! My son’s bike needed the chain put back, something was wrong with the rear tire and the break. The tires needed air, Jorge had me in there for less than 10 minutes. Helen is really nice too!! Definitely will be going back and their prices are pretty damn good!!”

“Cannot say enough positive things about this place! On a new road bike and my first ride in 10 years, had an unfortunate clip in SNAFU by the bridge that damaged my bike and made it unrideable. Thankfully I was within walking distance of the shop and within an hour it was completely fixed, along with a set of pedals that were a better match for my shoes/bike. I rode about 30 miles after without a hitch and the team was kind and friendly the entire time.”
“They got me back on the road when my sealant dried up and my rear tire flatted out, luckily half mile from them. They sold me a new sealant bottle and hooked me up with the tools to add it.”

“I had just started a 70 mile ride when at mile 10 my back tire went flat. I had to walk 45 minutes to get to Bennetts. The service here is impeccable! I was back on the road within 15 minutes of walking in the door. Super friendly, super efficient, and they didn’t kill me on the price. Even though the shop is out of the way for me I would absolutely go back.”
