Seamus - our 11 year old Beagle mix - has been a patient of Holmdel Veterinary Clinic for over a decade. (We also have Hopper - our crazy kitty who we adopted from one of HVC's veterinary assistants.)
Seamus just had his senior check up today. Unfortunately, Dr. Sturla found an issue that require's a specialist's care, so I'm a bit nervous and anxious about putting my sweet boy in the care of someone I don't know. I just hope everything goes well. Seamus is FAMILY. My husband and I need our sweet old sugar-faced puppy to live a long, happy, healthy life.
One thing I can say with complete confidence is that Dr. Sturla and his entire team truly care about their patients. My dog hates vet visits, but the staff at HVC are always so calm and gentle with him. I appreciate that they try to make the experience as stress-free as possible. (For both of us.) I'm an annoying "dog mom" who worries about every little lump and bump - but the staff at Holmdel Veterinary Clinic is always patient and accommodating. They take the time to answer every question and address all of my concerns. I never feel rushed or ignored. I am so grateful I found a veterinary clinic with such great staff! Everyone at HVC is always so welcoming and they make a such a fuss over Seamus. (He's such a little rock star!) It melts my heart to see how much they care. The people at HVC are true animal lovers. I knew I'd found a kind, compassionate vet the time I caught a glimpse of Dr. Sturla kissing my boy on the head. It was a small, sweet gesture, but it meant so much to me. It's definitely something I'll always remember.
Thank you Dr. Sturla and everybody at Holmdel Veterinary Clinic for so many years of kindness and compassion. Our crazy kitty is due for a check up soon, so we'll be seeing you again really soon! Warning: Get your thickest gloves ready - unlike his sweet canine sibling, Hopper's a bit of a tough guy!

We feel very fortunate to have our dog Cosmo in the care of Holmdel Veterinary Clinic. Anytime we have had questions or concerns they have gone the extra mile to be responsive and make sure our situation was resolved quickly. Dr. Sturla is an incredibly knowledgeable veterinarian and skilled surgeon if that is required - which it was for Cosmo on one occasion. The entire staff, from his extremely competent and conscientious wife to all the technicians, always make us feel like we are in good hands there. Thank you Dr. Sturla and everyone at Holmdel Veterinary Clinic!

We love this doctor & the staff. They are so thorough & they are so sweet to our Lexi! She actually looks forward to coming here. She goes in with the girls no problem. The doctor is a sweetheart & never does anything extra that doesn’t need to be done.

What a great team! I brought my 15-16 year old dog, Magnolia, in this week and she was treated like a queen! I was so impressed by how friendly all of the vet techs and front desk staff were. I am also so grateful for Dr. Sturla’s compassion for Magnolia. He was so thoughtful in how he spoke to me about caring for my very senior girl. Maggie is doing much better! Thank you!

Wonderful care for my almost 13 year old dog. Be bringing him there since a puppy. Dr. Sturla and his staff are great.

Dr. Sterla is great however I had to switch vets because of how absolutely horrid and rude his wife is. I'm the second person now I know of that had to switch a vet they trust because they cannot take this woman's awful behavior. That's saying A LOT. Saying she is rude is an understatement. Saying she is unfriendly is being way too kind. She's downright nasty. I'm not the type of person to blast anyone on the internet because of a bad experience but this woman is a walking bad experience. I was already so upset about my dog and the way this woman spoke to me on the phone and then in person brought me to tears- on a day she should know comfort and grace was not only necessary as a receptionist in a vets office but also just the right thing to do. I Now send my friends family my TNR network elsewhere. Such a shame.

Very clean. Staff is caring and professional. The doctors are in explaining anything. Everyone shows they care. Highly recommend.

I’m considering going to another vet after my last visit. I spent a bunch of money on allergy pills and testing just for my dog to be misdiagnosed. I think a vet should at least have the skill to diagnose something as simple as fleas. Thanks to the misdiagnosis, my poor dog has bald spots and has been suffering for weeks. I finally had enough of watching him suffer regardless of the medications and googled his symptoms. After following some instructions on youtube, I realized within minutes that his issue was fleas all along. Very frustrating to spend hundreds of dollars on your dogs care just for them to be careless. The doctor also seems a bit rushed when he comes to explain what he thinks is going on.
