Useless location. They removed bank tellers so it's a glorified ATM hut with an equally usefull person employed there to tell people their bank isn't a bank any longer. Was directed to a different bank in a different city for what I needed. They weren't even able to close my account when I complained. Avoid this trash useless bank if you can at all costs.

I am constantly locked out of my account, and the customer service representatives somehow find it impossible to verify who I am over the phone (although all other financial institutions seem to be able to do this). They require me to actually visit a branch, and I am often in a state where there are no branches. It's really scary not to have access to your money and to have no one who seems to care. Don't bank with Santander. There are far better banks.

Poor customer service. They kept me waiting on the phone for too long to speak with someone. They are as bad as the NJ MVC or DMV. Who are experts at eating people's time. Bank elsewhere.

It's quite exemplary the arrogance and ignorance of Santander Bank about the pompous attitude for the past month or two they have been systematically disassembling my ability to get my money pay my bills purchase food gas and in general live my life. Every time this occurs they expect me to call them and spend hours at a time on the phone with them to correct the situation hours on end so only ultimately be in the same spot a day later and doing the same thing. I should be pulling a pay check and they have refused and each time they try to correct the situation one more ignorant than the last one trips over themselves to try and get it right to only ultimately fail when I get on the phone with them they are obnoxious unhelpful unruly pouting little children who inevitably never succeed at anything. Mostly the only thing they can do is Shine you on in a polite way which ultimately behind what they're saying means f*** you. I have a 20 year old Plus account with them I was in existence with this bank that I'm at in Rhode Island long before they ever took it over and there now a sad sorry sack of s**** Please do not bank with this company ultimately they will only waste your time aggravate you and do their best to make you feel like a moron and idiot please at all costs try find another bank that suits your needs as this one it's not only dysfunctional needs to be put out of business Thank you for your time good luck This star rating is that I can post that they need a negative * 9 thank you

I am of the opinion this company should not be in the business of banking. I never actually thought an experience at a bank could be so good or bad as to compel me to write a review, but here we are. In December, my wife and I went to every bank in Hoboken in search of a safe deposit box (surprisingly hard to find in Hoboken) and the best savings rate for our wedding gift money. The savings rate quoted by the salesman at Santander was among the best and, in opening a savings account, we'd be eligible for a discount on the safe deposit box. Or so we were told. This discount made Santander the most attractive option. The manager who had to open the safe deposit box wasn't in that day so we were told to come back the next Saturday. We did and he wasn't in that day. The next Saturday he was, but we learned, that the salesman had quoted us incorrect terms. We would have to open a different type of account, which we did not want, to get the discount for the safe deposit box. They did not disagree that we'd been quoted certain terms. I asked if they'd honor them but was told "that wouldn't make sense for us". Needless to say, we took our money out. Had they represented their terms accurately, we wouldn't have opened up an account to begin with. Unfortunately, that's not the end of the story. We tried to give the funds to our Financial Advisor. The check from Santander was missing some information his firm needed so I went back to Santander to request a simple letter saying: 'this was our account. We have liquidated it.' Anything along these general lines would have been sufficient. They had never heard of such a request and couldn't accommodate. My financial advisor worked things out on their end that a statement would be sufficient. Santander was able to print out a statement. The charge for the two printed pages? $6. One of the sales people, to his credit and given the circumstances, did try to waive the fee, but the manager wasn't having it. So, if a bank that misquotes terms, not honor them once the error is realized and then gouge you if leave because of their error is your thing then this is the bank for you.
