A local store shouldn’t be priced gouging. I understand the whole thing of everything going up and prices but gouging prices to make their means is unheard of. I’m a local man love to shop at my local stores this place will not receive any more business from me

Ten thousand reviews. TEN. THOUSAND. REVIEWS. Why do I even bother? Because my opinion matters! So here goes my two cents: The pastrami sandwiches are unbelievably delicious. Like every single bite is heavenly and not one bit of toughness to it. And you wouldn't believe it when you look at it because the meat just looks so dry and shreddy. I split one sandwich with my companion since it looked gigantic. However, I was very disappointed when I finished my last bite and was craving for more. This is how good the pastrami sandwich is. So here's what you really need to know. (I am sure the other reviews have mentioned them but I haven't read their reviews, so I am going to repeat it since that seems to be the theme of these reviews.) There will be a line. No matter what time you came. We came on Christmas Day. While there was no line outside, there was a very short line inside. But we stayed at the hotel on the same block, and no matter the hours, there is always a line outside. So just expect to wait; no big deal. When you walk in, you'll be handed a slip of pink paper. You'll be yelled at to hold on to the slip even if you don't order. It's not a big deal; just hold on to the ticket, even if you didn't order anything. There are many lines down the counter. Don't wait at the first few lines because people usually walk in and just wait at the first line they see when there are shorter lines in the back. The menu is old and on the wall. When it's your turn, tell the guy what you want and give him the pink ticket and he'll write your order on that and return it back to you. Hold onto it! OR you can find a booth along the left side of the restaurant and those booths have table service. If it's your first time to Katz's, it's kind of fun to wait in line and order for yourself. But I am sure it's also fun to sit at the booth and watch the madness. When you're all done, just exit toward the cashier and give your entire party's pink tickets to the cashier. I don't know what happens if you don't have the right number of tickets, but I saw signs that they'll charge you $50 per person. So better keep your ticket!!!

This definitely lived up to the hype and was worth every penny. The meat completely melts in your mouth and there is plenty of it on the sandwich. The sandwiches are huge and one of them can easily satisfy two people's hunger. Being from Montreal, I still have to give the crown to Schwart'z Deli but this is a close second.

We came per my brother's recommendation. The place is jam packed and there's weird dust on the floor, perhaps to soak up the rain? Either way, I dropped my umbrella and there was no saving it from hundreds of particles coating it, but moving on. You can either wait to be seated after signing in with the host or you can order from the counter. We opted to be served. My bf and I along with another couple were called and ended up being squished at the same table. We unfortunately were seated inside next to the wall, and between other tables, we couldn't comfortably dine, let alone budge in fear of hitting the person behind you. It's just a strange experience to have to dine with a couple you don't know. Service, I feel, is your typical New Yorker service. Brief, straightfaced, but they're busy, so that's understandable, but they also basically throw items down onto the table. Loved the matzo meatball soup and the cheesesteak. I'm not a huge fan of pastrami sandwiches, so I can't rave about that. Portions are pretty hefty, so if you don't eat large sandwiches normally, order one to share.

Katz's is definitely worth the try if you're in the neighborhood. This place has as much hype as it gets, but it is honestly worth trying. First off, they have a very different and interesting way of dining. Upon entering, every individual gets a ticket. Hold on to that ticket for dear life, because you will need it to leave. If you lose it, they supposedly charge you a ridiculous amount to leave the restaurant. The ticket itself is your bill. So you go to a designated station, order what it is you want, hand them your ticket, and they will update the ticket to what it is your bill will come out too. Dine. Then you pay at the register at the exit upon leaving. The restaurant is a very old school diner feel. Nothing fancy to it. Lots and lots of seating. The prices of the sandwiches are quite hefty. But with the amount of carved meat they put in your sandwich, it's quite understandable where the price is coming from. I'm not big on pastrami or brisket. But oh boy! their meats here are so tender and juicy. It's the kind of fall off the bone, melt in your mouth type deal. It's a simple sandwich. You get it with a side of pickles. There's mustard back at the table if you want to get crazy. But overall, it's just a good, hearty, hot sandwich. I definitely recommend the pastrami over everything else. It has a bit more salt and flavor than the other sandwiches and is definitely not like typical pastrami. I don't like pastrami, but this was damn good. Splurge. Order a side of thick cut steak fries. Hot and steamy and starchy with a slight crisp. It's the perfect meal.

I heard about this restaurant through friends and youtube, so I had to see what the hype was all about! I came here around 4am with my friends on a friday night, and it was packed. The restaurant is open 24/7. First you have to get a ticket by the door, which every customer uses as their receipt before paying. I ordered the Pastrami sandwich, and it tasted so good. Im not really a huge fan of pastrami, but you have to try out that sandwich. The meat was juicy and tender, and I was actually thinking about getting another sandwich. The price of the sandwiches are very reasonable. They have enough space to dine in, but I heard during lunch time on weekdays, its packed. I will be coming back when I am in NYC.

Whenever you're in NYC, one of the iconic food spots to visit is Katz. The place is always busy and the portion sizes are definitely worth the price. I ordered the pastrami hot sandwich and thank goodness I was able to share the sandwich with my wife. The sandwich was enormous! Each bite was full of flavor with each piece of meat being juicy and savory. There's nothing I can't stand more than a dry sandwich and this is anything but that. The experience was completed by washing it all down with Dr. Brown Cream Soda. The place might be a little too touristy for some, but the food is worth it in my opinion. Can't wait to go back and try the other sandwiches!
