The food was outstanding as usual. The service could've been better. Our waiter never checked back after we received our food. When I was in the industry. We had a 2 minute check back rule. That never happened.

My husband and I waited for - week for finally a lovely Italian meal/ experience. 1. We booked on open table a week in advance . We were seated on our own , in a separate area away from the restaurant. On our own in I guess the banquet area but next to the toilets 2. Our appetizers clams , salty and sandy !!! Mushrooms appetizers with a lumpy flour ridden sauce , that I squeezed the lumps and saw flour - I'm sure the server even saw this ! Unbelievable ! 3. Our veal Milanese & marsal entees , omg the sauce was so awful, no taste and my husband said, I don't think k even our dogs would eat this! The pasta was so overcooked it was in clumps !! We were looking forward to a romantic night together , having babysitters and we had to leave and send the entrees back. Also , the mains came as we were still having the apps which we didn't eat but they just took it away and never asked ! How can you not see the lumps in the appetizer you served and say something ! Not good - do better !

We have eaten at Assaggini di Roma in the past. It's an unassuming little restaurant in a strip mall that is better than one might think from its location. Our issue was not with the food. Our issue was with the fact that the staff spoke Spanish in the room next to where we were seated, bath mouthing us for taking too long to leave because they were ready to go home. Staff should never assume by looks whether patrons speak and understand another language. Admittedly, half of our party was quite late to arrive due to extreme traffic, but to stand next to us and bad mouth us thinking we didn't understand them is extremely poor customer service. We won't be returning to Assaggini. We can spend our money anywhere; it doesn't need to be there. I sincerely hope the owners of Assagggini di Roma see this review and have a talk with the staff. These workers are not doing you any service. They just cost you quite a few customers, because we have shared this information with our friends and family, and everyone is disgusted by what happened.

We had a delightful Father's Day dinner at Assaggini di Roma last Sunday. My request for a round table was honored so everyone was able to talk easily. The food was outstanding as always. I had the NY Strip Steak with mushrooms, it was done exactly as I ordered it and the potatoes were delicious and crispy. I ate the whole thing! Other meals ordered: Veal Marsala, the Veal Chop special (was so big, half was packed up to take home), Frutta di Mare in a white sauce, Pappardelle Pesto. Everyone was pleased. Our waiter was very attentive and went above and beyond. I highly recommend this neighborhood gem. It's BYOB

Always a good time never a disappointment. BYOB keeps the price affordable. The Osso Buco is to die for. The food is never a disappointment. The staff is always friendly the owner Dee makes you always feel like family. Highly recommended make a reservation. Can't wait to go back.

We booked a reservation via Open Table yet, upon arrival had to wait 20+ minutes for our table to be ready. It was very crowded and no foyer area to wait. The owner was very apologetic and accommodating once we were seated. I enjoyed my main course of Chilean Sea Bass & my husband enjoyed his steak. My daughters liked their pasta dishes; although, one didn't find the gravy remarkable and the other said her dish was overly cheesy. Overall, we all enjoyed our dinner and gave ADR 4 out of 5 stars. Again, the owner was a very kind and lovey person.

The food was great! The food there every time we have been there is so delicious . We went for the daughter 18th birthday and seven said so on our reservation. They did not do anything for her Birthday. Its not hard hard to say Happy Birthday and make her feel special. There was a loud talking table near us which made it hard for us to hear each other and then an employee sat at the table and it was even louder so they must be friends or family if the employee so this may be a common thing. I just did not want to here their whole conversation from about two tables away. Next time we go there we will know we just cant talk to each other unless we shout over the other loud people. Just wish the other people would have stuffed their mouth with the delicious food and then they would not be able to talk.

True Italian restaurant! The decor is lovely and the restaurant itself is not huge so it's very intimate dining. Our waitress was very attentive and very nice. This is a bring your own beer/liquor restaurant. My friend had the pork chops, and I had salmon and shrimp livornese, which was a special that day. Everything tasted fantastic and the portions were large! You will not be disappointed!

This place has been hidden away for too long! The food and service were excellent. my bolognese was among the best I've had and it's not even on the regular menu. My wife's salmon was perfectly prepared and delicious. Our server, Sheryl (?) was pleasant and efficient - her recommendations were terrific.

Delicious food and waitress happily opened wine bottle, water brought to table in a carafe, grated cheese on the table so no need to flag down waitress for water or extra cheese. Will be returning for another delicious meal.

I live locally and stumbled across this restaurant. the food is phenomenal. The service is excellent. I've gone there twice now, and have not been disappointed. The pricing and portion size are better than most restaurants around.

My third time and each time was better than the last. The food is incredible stuffed mushroom are delish !!! So far I had the steak with broccoli rabe, eggplant parm was just like my mom's and veal Marsala so tasty. Our waitress Michelle was very sweet and attentive on a busy Thursday night. I will definitely be back again and again.

Once again Dee and her staff at Assaggini di Roma made our anniversary dinner an EPIC celebration. We were treated like royalty and seated even before our reservation time at the BEST table for 2 in the restaurant. Our waitress Noelle was constantly checking on us and the food was magnificient.....we bought half of our dinners and delicious desserts home too. I continue to praise Dee and how amazing our dining experience is every single time we are out to dinner. Her restaurant is the BEST of the REST and we would give them a million stars for their continued success. Keep up the great work. We will see you again soon! Lobster pasta & bolognese specials, scallop dish & chicken murphy entrees were delish. Long peppers with shrimp & calamari app is always great. Service by Noel was superb! The coffee, Italian cheesecake & tiramisu also excellent. Best Italian restaurant in NJ.
