Timeka and Carl manage this property brilliantly. They have been superhelpful throughout our tenure here at 221 bergen!

over the past two years I have lived here, the west wing elevator was down more than 10 times and it takes forever to fix it each time. For anyone
considering moving in, at least live in the east wing (less worse). And management team, instead of replying “we are sorry that blah blah …”. Please take time and spend some money to fix it once for all for everyone’s sake.

IF you value your life, please do not move here.
Pros:
Move in process is very easy. Hardly much screening is done, so you can get approved within 24hr of screening.
Cons:
1. No proper inspection is done prior to apt move in.
2. Got into a fire accident the other day where the oven caught on fire within a minute of turning it on for the first time. Even when there was nothing inside it. Fire originated from below the bottom panel and shows clear signs of negligence from management.
Management is pretty rude and are self centered. Attaching one of the videos, which shows soot from under the bottom panel where the fire started from.
3. Extremely dirty house was given with cobwebs hanging from ceiling and dirt streaks in toilet, dirty water dispenser and with most appliances in repair.
When I showed pics of water dispenser to management, I got a pretty rude response asking me to adjust to how things are. Rather than cleaning it.
4. Witnessed couple of bugs as well.
5. Also after moving in, it took me 4 weeks of chasing after them to have the dryer fixed, cleaning, kitchen repairs, fire alarm repairs and other repairs done.
6. Insurance management is a mess. Even after providing proper insurance details, still received multiple mails and emails for more details of insurance from Assurant.
7. Maintenance is mentioned as 24/7 on website which is a lie. It is only available between 9am and 6pm. But that is only if staff is available. Otherwise, emergency maintenance such as in case of gas/water leakage etc kind of incidents - apparently is available.
8. Deliveries are often left at wrong place as drivers get confused due to the multiple doors. Packages are mishandled.
I have attached few pics and videos out of the many I have, so people can be careful when they visit this place.

Great place. Timeka helps with anything and everything. Maintenance guy is always available. Can improve the security of the building a bit more. There is no other apartment complex as reasonably priced as this one in Harrison

Great place to live! Management hosts fun events like free pie from local bakeries on Pi Day. Very clean apartment community and well-maintained. Very welcoming!

Heads Up:1. It takes 30 days to receive your deposit back from management.2. Management will bother you at least 7 times within one year for their annual building “tests.”3. The Maintenance manager is ridiculously rude and always give inaccurate information.4. 250 late fee if you’re 3 days late on rent, they don’t go by the standard 5 day grace period.5. The elevators are down 50 percent of the time.6. I constantly told management that I thought my safety was in danger due to an incident involving another tenant. Greystar showed little to no remorse. So many other great options in the area, do yourself a favor and leave Greystar alone.

This place is a scam. Be sure to settle ALL of your accounts with them before handing back your keys - they called us two years later saying we had a balance that we certainly did not have when we tried to move out. This is to say nothing of the miserable move-in process, in which we could not get signed copies of our lease up until 24 hours in advance. I've never had a less responsive landlord or management office. The apartments are nice - but be prepared to fight and be emotionally drained every step of the way.UPDATE: Do not buy their disingenuous reply below. I did contact management many, many times to settle the account in question and was never given a clear answer on how their disorganized accounting practices resulted in a phony charge on our account two years later. To put the onus on me to contact them so they can resolve to my satisfaction is not a genuine offer. Do not be fooled.

As a tenant for 3 years, I really have to disagree with at least two reviews on here.I have been here long enough to witness some changes in management & Timeka has single-handedly turned this building around and gave meaning to the word "Community".Residents would have to swim through a sea of packages- often even "lost" but since Timeka has come, no more lost packages. Now our residents have a top of the line smart package management system.Perhaps some tenants haven't lived here long enough to witness these improvements?Residents would smoke in grounds, and Timeka has enforced the non-smoking rules to ensure that families arent exposed and safe from any fire hazards.I will add that I haven't seen as much ORDER in the building since Timeka. Also frequent engagement and followup via email. Also, elevators are working 98% of the time with any issues being promptly communicated and often addressed within hours. The community events are all a part of the quality of life here to add and the maintenance guy, Carl is great and attentive as well. This is my 3rd year as a resident here, & I must say that the best part of my experience here is the service and attentiveness that you get from the staff-especially Timeka & Carl, both of whom have always exceeded our expectations and have been a pleasure to work with.Everything from managing, leasing, taking care of repairs, being as accommodating as possible during the renewal process, promptly addressing any questions or concerns…THIS is the kind of service that truly makes 221 Bergen a great value!!! I hope Greystar recognizes these two gems.Jennifer & Family

Location wise nice. Like living here. But the elevator is out of order more than 50% of the time. One of the main reason for living here is the elevator amenity. The management should remove it from the posting/website. Sometimes it is our for close to a month.

It's a beautiful building that makes you satisfied to come back to after a long day at work. It is really close to the PATH station and has a couple of nice restaurants and stores you can go to. Very well-lit area at night, as well.

Pros:- 6 mins walk from Harrison Path station- Rooms are reasonably bigger compared to competitors- New construction- Gym available 24 * 7- 5 mins walking distance from couple of good free public pre schools of Harrison- very well organized maintenance manager, resolves problem as soon as he can.Cons:- No play area for kids but public park is available in 2 mins walking distance.- packages get lost sometimes as this community has 6 gates at which people can deliver packages too. But a reasonable con to live with.

We lived in this apartment for two years. The first few months seemed fine, but later there were issues on top of issues on top of issues.Firstly the community manager changed and the apartment did not have a POC for a while. The were temporary managers that were hardly or never available. Secondly, maintenance- The security system broke for one of the entrances and was left unattended for a few days, the elevator constantly had issues and we had to use the stairs. The garbage area was a constant mess and used to smell very badly.During lease renewal, after first year there was no manager and no one would respond to emails. It was weird to live there after extension was over and finally 2 months delayed, we signed the lease.Lastly, when we had to relocate, they made it even more painful. We were asked to pay our lease breakage fee and the property manager said we will be receiving our deposit back in a few days. She left after we moved and there was no word about our deposit refund. After several calls and emails, we received the check 3 months later!Very comfortable location in terms of commute to the city, but less amenities and more problems with constant changing management, please consider the other apartments in the area if the issues mentioned above do not work for you.
