Very friendly staff at the front, and overall gym culture of keeping the place in good order. Concierge selection of protein and pre workout drinks at a reasonable price is a plus. While many thought the boxing bag iron rack would never be fixed, the ownership made the investment to bring it back. That's rare for small gyms, but it's a testament to their excellence in management.

The new manager is unfriendly and disconnected from current members. The classes are great because of wonderful instructors. The app and website do not reflect a true schedule of classes making it impossible to plan a workout. Despite being advised of this problem management has done nothing to fix it.

I was very disappointed in the Retro Fitness in Middletown, NJ. Roger was very helpful at the front desk. However, I wanted a personal trainer as I am an amputee. I lost my leg in an auto accident. I reached out yo Jeremiah the trainer. He responded promptly to me but once I explained I was an amputee never heard back again. Very discriminating & in fact was accepted w/ open arms to Planet Fitness. Planet Fitness includes a personal trainer 5 days a week, a tanning booth & all its amenities fir $25 a month. Score fir me. Thanks Retro Fitness for the rejection. You did me s favor. Don't recommend Retro Fitness at all. Too small, crowded, old looking & only thing i liked was a smoothie bar which Im fine going to Smoothie King. Thumbs down

I've been going to Retro Fitness Hackensack for about 12 years now and there's a reason that this is the only gym I've ever had a membership to. The facility is great and the staff is extremely welcoming and helpful. I would recommend to all individuals who went to join the fitness journey and change their live for the better.

I joined this gym 3 years ago, and this is one of the best gym experiences I have ever had. Staff is very welcoming, gym community is very nice and clean gym. Justin signed me up and makes the best shakes which keeps me coming back. You can refer to him to get a gym membership.

Been to a few gyms in the past,
THEGYM, LIFETIME, 24 fitness, planet fitness, and other retros.
but this vibe has been one of my personal favorite because its close to where I live and it's at price value.
I like the layout of having weight machines on the first floor, treadmills and boxing equipment on the second floor.
The staff is the most welcoming that I have interacted with in any gym and the personal trainer Guil has been a great help to me on my health journey, really knowledgable and friendly and makes working out simple and progressive.
The people here working and working out are great people.
The music is always on point.
My only critique of the facility is that the locker room can smell.
They are still improving the place and adding more amenities like a massage room that just opened.
