Went to this store to acquire a new pair of steel toe boots for work and was helped by an employee named Brandon. He was extremely helpful and knowledgeable on the products. Very satisfied with my purchase.

My husband works in the building trades and his Local has a deal with the store in Hackensack, NJ where they get a 10% discount so he’s been going there for over a decade - even though we pass two other locations to get to this one. The last few pairs have not lasted a year and this year he decided he might want to look around for another type of boot - something that would also be cooler for summer. We went into the Hackensack store, which had one other customer being helped at the time and three sales associates (I assume two of them, an older couple, were the owners) and were not even greeted. My husband is looking around and not finding anything that he is looking for so he asks for the boot he always has gotten and they say they have them. He asks if they have them in his size and they just point to a pile of boxes stacked up on the floor and say “I think so.” He asks if they have them in black, the color he has always gotten and the woman (owner/manager) says to the older male (owner/manager) “they ALWAYS want them in black” as she rolls her eyes, right in front of me! The man then says “they discontinued them.” So he gets the size he has always worn and cannot even get his foot into the boot - he’s an extra wide 13. The couple starts making comments “you have to break them in” - he’s had many pairs of these boots and always the same size and never once couldn’t get his foot in the boot. So he asks for a size up and it’s still not quite right but they are insisting they need to be “broken in.” The whole time I’m looking at what appears to be the advertised “ultimate fit experience” station in the store, which they don’t even offer to utilize to assist him. The man works on his feet all day, he’s a big guy, he’s been a loyal customer for over a decade - what is wrong with this place? He keeps saying he really wants something cooler for summer and the woman snaps back “it’s only 400g insulation” so he continues to walk around the store saying exactly what he is looking for - really simple, something with a safety toe that will protect his ankle but isn’t so heavy - and they just offer no help. I’ve never been in shoe store where the staff not only are not helpful but act like you are disturbing their day by wanting to make a purchase. He then asks about the discount and the man (who has been sitting behind the counter at a computer just barking from his chair) says “yeah when you buy something at regular price” because apparently the Loggers he had were on special. Fine. He then asked about getting repairs done on his old pair that had holes and stitching issues and again the man was less than friendly about that. It was a completely bizarre experience - especially when you have people who obviously own/manage the store not even willing to do anything but shout from behind the counter and make snide remarks. These aren’t cheap boots, the folks who wear them are doing essential/dangerous work in all sorts of weather - ASSIST THEM PROPERLY or find a new business venture NOT in customer service. It’s worth noting that the other customer who was present when we arrived also left empty handed and displeased after the treatment they were receiving - treatment that was so poor I was uncomfortable for them. I think my husband’s time with Red Wing has come to an end now after our visit to the Hackensack store. What a shame.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE
Walk into the store, 3 sales associates and they didn’t even say good afternoon or hello how can I help you, they just stay like no one walk in, you ask for a pair of boots and didn’t even hesitate to help, I’ve been customer from Red Wing like from 6 years and never experienced anything like that , never go back to this store…

Not the friendliest staff. I made a return for a clearly defective product bought from a different branch and returned on a timely manner as per their warranty but they made you feel guilty, handed you the box of shoes and felt lime you couldnt even try it on as they already did their part

Don’t even bother going. Went there on Saturday at 9:15 (they open at 9) the guy at the desk just looked at me and went back to whatever he was doing. After waiting outside for 10 minutes I knocked on the door to ask when he would open. He just raised his hands and went back to looking at the computer. Never got off of his seat or said anything to me. I don’t mind waiting but this guy seemed to care less when he opened. You’re better off going somewhere else than dealing with these people.
