You responded to my first post but it looks like I cannot respond back. That’s not the issue. Don’t tell me that other banks do this. With Chase for example, if the account goes into the negative, I have until 11PM that day to bring the account back up into the positive before they charge me the No Sufficient Fees. What your bank is doing is gross. If I get direct deposit today let’s say at 4AM it clears, but an automatic payment comes in at 3AM or 12AM, you proceed to charge that fee. It’s just a few hours difference within the same day. I cannot control at what time I get deposited and at what time another business decides to withdraw; the point should be that IF during the same day I make the funds available, that same day, then why are you charging me. Why don’t you decline the transaction then? If the funds aren’t there, and you won’t proceed to pay the item, then decline it! Instead of declining the transaction, you prefer to let it hit the account just to charge that fee and it’s really gross. I’m switching my direct to a different credit Union that doesn’t do this mess or back to Chase it is because honestly it’s disgusting.

The customer service is great. HOWEVER the institution are thieves. So get this, let’s say your account hits the negative, they manually return that item, meaning they won’t pay it. AND then then proceed to charge you a $25 fee. I would understand the $25 fee if they paid the item and my account stayed in the negative. But to proceed to charge that $25 even though they never went ahead to actually pay that item is just disgusting. Avoid this bank at all costs.

The most incompetent bank ever. They have Lowbrow people work for them. The can't speak English Correctly, illiterate, They make hundred dollar mistakes and ultimately discriminate against white customers.I heard a racial slur and I should of reported it. It was said in Spanish but I speak and write in Spanish, All though I'm interracial and look White, How mean. If you want respect, and want no discrimination in this country, start practicing it.

I joined 1st Bergen FDU soon after it was opened as a member of Mt Olive Baptist Church. It was not my primary bank, yet I used it mostly for savings. I have seen several staff changes and have enjoyed banking with each one of them. The current staff has elevated the customer service experience to a point that I could no longer put off writing this review. The Manager Imani and her team should be held as the "Gold" standard for exemplary banking customer service.!

Actually, I so appreciate this establishment and all of the people who work there, with whom I’ve interacted. I have not one complaint. I’m handled with respect and kindness. I can ask questions, I get the help I need and they are, in my opinion, very professional. I also bank at another popular banking institution and although their customer service has been quality, I feel invisible to them when it comes to getting even a small loan. 1st Bergen gave me my very first loan and I’ll always respect and be grateful, for that.

I have been banking with 1st Bergen Federal Credit Union for 3+ years. I am not going to lie when Carolin Lopez was Branch Manager everything got done in a timely fashion. Although, the staff is nice. I just felt it was much more organized when she was around. It’s always a waiting game now, it’s frustrating. Just the service isn’t the same seems laid back now. I do not like that.

I tried to like this credit union. They have so many limitations such as mobile deposit and transfer between accounts. The icebreaker for me was their ATM machine declined withdrawals (to which I had enough funds) causing me overdraft fees. When I contacted them, their response was they DO NOT manage the machine and are not responsible for the glitch. They would not refund my fees. So long. Let me know when you all step into the new decade

I am not sure where all the positive ratings came from. My experience with them was awful! I never received my debit card. Customer service is awful! They are not helpful at all! No one ever calls you back and their website is very mediocre! So I spoke with a representative online... I said I’ve never had to leave messages at a banking institution.. He said it’s because we were busy or helping other customers! Then he said we never check those messages! I was like what’s the point of having a voicemail. Mind you this is an employee telling me this... very unprofessional. Both employees I encountered were not helpful at all!!!!
