Not really sure how this works but I had watches repaired at Michael's Jewelers with the original owner and never had any problems. I recently had a clasp replaced on a gold neckless. I was given the clasp back because they said it was valuable. They then asked if they could keep it to get the proper replacement. They called me with a price of $70. I picked it up and paid, but when i returned home the original gold clasp was not there. I called and they said they kept the orininal piece as a part of the payment. Is this a common practice? It was a good size piece of gold and the replacement was $70 for the exact same thing. Not Happy about this outcome. Don't know what to do next.

This is an excellent location for purchasing and repairing jewelry. This has been my family jeweler for three generations, and Michael's is the only one I trust with my personal jewelry as well as family heirlooms.
