Perfect place for a relaxing morning walk. The trails are very clean and terrain is flat, making it an easy walk for most people. Some of the paths deeper into the preserve can get muddy after rain, so you should wear gear you do not mind getting dirty. Plenty of parking available as well.I went around 7 am on a Sunday and it was very quite. It takes ~10 minutes to get to the end of the Island bridges trail.

The Borough of Franklin Lakes have done a great job with providing a beautiful place to enjoy the lake and nature trail. The only negative is towards some of the people who use the area. Everyone should clean up after themselves and their dogs and take their garbage with them when they leave. Some people' just don't seem to care and feel it's someone else's job to pick up after them. It's just wrong!

We love Franklin Lakes! Great spot to take the dogs! Beware of the algae in the water, it’s very bad for animals and humans. There are also a lot of aggressive bees right now because of the short winter. Be safe out there!

they offer opportunities for people to go boating. but is it safe ? the water quality report is from 2019. in addition they claim they test it yearly, but dont publish new reports. If the water is dangerous they need to put on a signs. what if someone is immunocompromised and goes boating.would love to hear an official response, or publish the new results.

Love it there!! Gorgeous views, never too crowded, some gravel paths, some dirt, some (not much) inclined walking. There are two beautiful swans that live there! You can rent canoes, kayaks, and peddle boats during the summer months.

Pretty nature walk that is easy to miss if you are not looking for it. This nature preserve is so close to the center of town but once you park and get started on the path it's easy to feel like you are in the middle of the woods. The trails are easy to read and everything was very clean. Easy parking lot access. This preserve probably gets very busy in the summer. I see there were kayaks people can rent as well.

This is a beautifully maintained nature preserve with walking paths, trails, kayaking/water boarding, and a picnic area. There is no cost to visit here and it is usually quiet. The flat trail is stroller friendly, very scenic with plenty of benches and picnic tables for resting and eating. There are trails (one which apparently leads to a beautiful waterfall) but not able to access with a stroller. Bring your own trash bag to take with you as there are no garbage cans. You are responsible for cleaning up after yourself. The views of the water were gorgeous, and the boys enjoyed throwing rocks into the water and watching other people kayak and water board. You can bring your own kayak or rent one in the summer.CJ loved the little houses made of sticks all over the preserve. They are a great opportunity for pretend play. Will go back? There's something about this place The views were beautiful, the preserve itself was so clean and well maintained, and plenty to do with the kids!

Not many places you can come all year round but this is one for me! Kayak as much as possible during the summer & often walking the other seasons. Love that it's dog friendly & has some tables if you wanted to come & read or listen to a podcast. Parking area is a bit small so be mindful of busy times.

Wonderfully quiet and quaint trail. Not too long or challenging. Great for a stroll in nature with scenic water views and shaded tree cover.About 1.5 miles around the lake/pond/reserve. Mostly flat, gravel trail with tougher areas of tree root exposure causing some “rugged and bumpy” areas (but beautiful and natural). We took our 2 week old baby in our jogger stroller and loved every second of it, she fell asleep along the way?Highly recommend for a quick little getaway stroll. We also saw fishermen and there is kayak/boat access??

Spent an afternoon walking around the lake. The weather was hot but the trail is shaded by trees. Lots of spots for fishing and looking out over the water and taking photos. We saw swans and a blue heron. The trail we took was uneven with lots of roots to watch out for but it didn't spoil the day. Canoes, kayaks and paddleboards are also available for rent. Maybe next time!

Beautiful park. But half of the trails on one side of the lake are FULL of tree roots that someone can easily fall on. Never will go on that side of the lake again !

Quaint well kept lake area and hiking trails around the shoreline right in the heart of Franklin Lakes

Absolutely beautiful, amazing and fun the trails are beautiful and clean so you can bring the little kids also. The entrance to the lake is very small and the parking is decent, we always go during the week so we always find the parking but on the weekends it’s a nightmare, unless you take Uber etc, you can walk to different trails or just sit by the lake and relax, you can rent the paddle boat or kayak for very nominal price or bring your own and do it for free, fishing is permitted, swimming is not allowed, portable bathrooms are clean!

Great trail around the lake with lots of shade. The connecting islands are beautiful and so cool. Great place to walk your dog. I even saw some dogs going for a swim.Would have been nice if there were more places to throw out doggy bags but this is a small complaint.

It's a beautiful spot to find a reconnect with nature! There are lots of spots to sit and take in the views! I love the swans, but there are fish, dragonflies, and turtles sunning themselves on logs. You can rent kayaks canoes and paddleboards from Ramsey Outdoor for an hourly rate.
