I thought long and hard about leaving this review, but I hope it will be helpful for some. Because I wish someone would have giving me some pointers.
Based on the raving reviews, I made an appointment months ago for cutting and coloring (lives in/balayage). I was so excited and feel like this might be the unicorn salon I have been searching for! I love the atmosphere of the salon. I like that they don't have assistants, so only your stylist is working with your hair. They sanitize everything after each clients! I love the hair cut I got. I noticed,while sitting there for many hours, almost everyone there was leaving with a great cut!
Unfortunately, I believe complex coloring is not their expertise.. after 8 hours and $400 later, spread out over 2 different visits. One of which was for correcting coloring done during the 1st visit. I left with colors no where near what I asked for, despite numerous pictures and discussions...after bleaching, he took off the foils at sink, washed the bleach off the hair and applied toner at the sink with my hair in the sink. I think he really tried his best but maybe lacked of training and experience with balayage.. but I wish I knew... looking back now I noted no one came in for coloring ( maybe that was my sign)
Final thoughts, if you need a haircut, they do wonders!! But if you need balayage or lives in highlights, maybe do more research.

I have been a customer at Hair Studio Taka for quite a few years now. My parents and other family members come here as well for their haircuts, and the reason for that is very clear. I have gotten my hair cut by many of their staff, but currently, I get my hair cut by Tom. From my experiences here, it is evident that the people who work here have exceptional skills. When asking what a customer would like, they tailor each haircut to fit the shape of the customer's face and the type of hair they have.
I have a round, long face and thick hair that gets heavy and frizzes easily. Tom ensures that any haircut I choose, whether it is short, long, layered, or textured, fits my face shape, hair type, and lifestyle. As a student, I don't have time to style my hair in the morning. Understanding this, Tom ensures that my hair can still look amazing without taking more than 15 minutes to style, despite it being very long and often stubborn.
All of the staff demonstrate extreme precision and accuracy with their tools and ensure that all of their customers feel welcome and comfortable. I highly recommend Hair Studio Taka for everyone, male or female, and people of any age!

It may be good to at least let people know on your google page and or website that appointment is required. When a customer walks in and your place is empty and you say you’re booked it’s frustrating.

I recently had the pleasure of getting my hair cut at this Japanese-owned salon, and I must say, it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. Ippei, the stylist who took care of me, demonstrated years of experience and skill in his craft. He was incredibly meticulous and attentive to detail, ensuring that I left the salon with a hairstyle that exceeded my expectations (I had simply asked him to just do what he saw fit with my hair).
Not only was the service top-notch, but the overall ambiance of the salon was also remarkable. The interior was cozy and inviting, making me feel relaxed and at ease throughout my visit. The staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly, adding to the overall pleasant atmosphere of the salon.
After such a positive experience, I can confidently say that I'll be a returning customer. If you're looking for an excellent haircut accompanied by exceptional service, I highly recommend giving this salon a try. Thank you to Ippei and the entire team for a wonderful experience—I'll definitely be back!

I’ve known Tom (Tomo) for years as he’s been cutting my husband’s hair, but today was my first time in his chair, and I couldn’t be happier! After discussing my desired look with photos, he worked his magic and delivered exactly what I wanted. Not only is he sweet and professional, but he also made the experience enjoyable with great conversation. Highly recommend him for anyone looking for a skilled and personable hairdresser!

I am so glad I found Hair Studio Taka! I've always had long, frizzy, wavy hair that was hard to manage and was looking for a makeover. Ippei was very kind and understanding and recommended a haircut that not only would suit me better but would be easy enough for me to style at home.He also taught me about my hair type and gave me tips for how to properly care for it. I was his last client for the day for a haircut but he also accommodated my request to color my hair. He gave me a fresh haircut while keeping the length that I want, styling it with layers that added movement to my hair. His hair color suggestion was on point and it turned out just the way I wanted. I drive from NYC to get my hair cut done by Taka. He is extremely professional and his haircut makes everyday styling very easy while chic. Also he doesnt recommend over-doing stuff by upselling which is very common at any salons to do more (colors, perms etc) and honestly shares his view on whats best for my hair. There is a long wait but get on the waitlist! It is worth it!
