I hate to give 2 stars because the event was a great experience but I am also concered about the health of patrons painting wine glasses with whatever is used to cure them. Sorry, this is long winded....My mother and I attended a wine glass class in April. They came out beautifully. I went a few days letter to pick them up but the resin was taking forever to dry. They were kind enough to deliver them to my mother's house because we lived far from their Flemington location. When delivered to my mother's they had much of the paper bag they were delivered in stuck to the sides. This is maybe 3 or 4 days later and they were still tacky.I finally decided to maybe try washing them to see if that would help. No, it made it worse! These are not safe to drink from and I don't feel comfortable with the fact that this is a product sold to patrons. Please do not take this class if available again.$60 wasted!!!Why are these items not tested before sold to class members? If they were, surely they would have known better than to continue with the resin product used.See photos attached. First is while rotating to dry. Last photo is after I attempted to wash them.

I had my mom's birthday party here and it was wonderful. It was a private party but another group of ladies signed up for the event not realizing. Tara was very accommodating and allowed them to stay - after getting our approval. Tara and Adriana did their best to work with both parties, even though the other party seemed to be pretty difficult. At the end of the day, Tara did a great job of making sure our guests were taken care of despite the hiccup of the other party scheduling during our private event (labeled G-mom's 75th Birthday Party on the website). I highly recommend Hammer & Stain in Flemington. Tara and Adriana were a pleasure to work with! My whole family had a great time!

What an unfortunate experience this was. My sisters and I who rarely get a night out together as we don't live close to one another had a really disappointing experience at Hammer and Stain. We signed up, PRE-PAID in full and reserved 4 spots online for a class last night. We show up for our reservation and after some major confusion we find out that there is a private event going on for someone's birthday. While the theme "GMOMs Birthday" was listed online it was not a locked out event as other events on the website are. One would venture to think, that if a private event was happening at your place of business the online classes would be CLOSED to anyone trying to sign up, but it was not! Instead it allowed us to pay and then we were essentially punished for showing up for the reservation. We thought it was just the theme of the night!! Again, trying to make clear we were NOT aware prior to our arrival that it was a private event. Imagine if you can how uncomfortable that was. We would have NEVER signed up if we knew it was private nor should we have been able to. The owner made a mistake there and took zero accountability on this point. While she may have apologized to the private party she did not apologize to us at all. Now, instead of providing options for us asking what we wanted to do (i.e. offering a refund OR a rain check to come back on another night) the owner Tara decided she would "allow" us to stay and that she would keep our money. We didn't even know that the other party was asked if they were ok with it. No communication was provided to us. They just moved our projects to another table and that was it. This then created an uncomfortable situation for us and the other party for the entire 3 hours that we were there. There was definitely a bit of tension. Tara then decided that she would prioritize the party and really tried to essentially not provide the same service to us. She did the bare minimum and really made us feel unwanted. We were made to feel like an annoyance for any request or question we had. Unfair! This situation was not our doing. I feel sorry for the private party that the owner didn't do a better job handling the situation for ALL of us involved. It's just not how an owner should behave IMO. Lastly I'll say, I also find it sad and desperate that she is now attacking our character in response to an honest review of our experience at her place of business by saying one of our credit cards was declined. Wouldn't that have been something she should have or could have mentioned to us last night when we were there especially given the situation. This is news to us and our charged bank accounts. She's reaching and Desperate!! My sisters and I handled the night with grace. We tipped her assistant Adrianna at the end because she was kind and didn't make us feel unwanted. She did the best she could to help us with patience and a smile.People have different experiences at places all the time. This was ours. Take from it what you will. Decide for yourself if you would pay $75 to be treated like a nuisance for 3 hours

I had my daughter's 7 birthday party there and it was so much fun! Everyone enjoyed their time- the bday girl, her guests and even the parents! The owner Tara was so kind and patient with the kids as they painted and her daughter Stevie was the best! She assisted her mom and was so attentive with my 2 year who really wanted to be apart of the party. The location is in a cool little area on Main Street and there is plenty of parking in back. The venue is even cooler. It's a nice little gem. I absolutely recommend this place.

Wonderful Venue for Kids' BirthdayI had my daughter's 6th birthday party here with 10 of her friends and it was a great experience. We picked the cupcake theme where kids first make a painting of cupcakes and then decorate four actual cupcakes. Everything, from canvas and paint to cupcakes, icing, all kinds of candy and even chefs hats were provided by Tara. At the end she even made cotton candy for each kid. The place is beautiful and tastefully decorated. Tara and Cindy were very kind and helpful and made sure the overall experience was flawless and enjoyable by everyone.Kids had a great time and my daughter absolutely loved it.Considering all supplies and even food, snacks and drinks are included, it's a great deal, too. Everything was A+.

Visiting Hammer & Stain made for a fun night out with my sisters and mom. Sometimes it's nice to do something a little different from the typical dinner and drinks. You are allowed to bring your own snacks and beverages (alcoholic as well as non alcoholic). We forgot our glasses and the ladies there were happy to provide some for us. We chose our activity before the day of the event, and everything was set up for us when we got there. Even though we were all in the same party, we were able to choose differently from each other which was nice since we all have different home decor and tastes. We also were able to choose our stain color for the wood and the paint color for the words. I was concerned they would have a hard time instructing us on our projects since there were four of us and two of them and everyone had something different, but they did it without a hitch and were very informative and patient.

Accepted an invite to hand knit a Cozy Chunky Blanket with a group of friends at Hammer & Stain. What a variety of beautiful colors to choose from and super soft! Hostesses Tara & Adriana warmly welcomed us in, patiently guided and showed us how to proceed, and were always available to help without being "in your face". Had a terrific time and eager to make more blankets (or scarves)!!

I text 2 times that I had put an incorrect date on a project i was going there to do on 7/9/22, both time I was assured the correct date would be done. When I went on the 9th the incorrect date was on the stencil, I was fine with that since I was told by the instructor the correct date would be placed on a stencil and mailed to me if I sent my address to them since i did not recieve a conforming email prior to the class. I waited until Monday to send my address and the correct information again to them and was told via text the stencil was mailed out that day, 7/11/22. As of today I have not received it despite sending 2 text messages that have gone unanswered.

I had the worst customer service experience in my life here. The owner, Tara, tried to force me to pay her $150 if I didn’t have 10 people /projects booked 6 days PRIOR to the date she originally told me. She also stated that people can come 30 minutes early to set up/decorate prior to my private event. The day of my party, she texted that folks can come 15 minutes early. They were on their way there already and Tara advised me to have them sit in their car and she will text me when she was ready… I understand her previous party could’ve ran over but she LOCKED THE DOORS AND SHUT THE LIGHTS WHEN my 80 year mother came to the studio and found the place was closed…. They all panicked as I had 16 ladies coming for a party. It happened to be 94 degrees that day and my guests were standing outside with food, drinks and decorations. When I arrived, Tara never once said hi to me, congratulations, nice to meet you, nothing. My guests noticed her blatantly ignoring me when I asked for her assistance. And many thought she was very rude, disrespectful and clearly had no sense of customer service. Tara rushed us out prior to the event ending and wound up throwing a few silver serving utensils away. She didn’t have the tray handles, which we understood, but when I asked her about helping these guests with the handles if needed, Tara indicated they had to assemble them on their own,,,and she never gave them screws with the handles !! Tara never offered to take a group photo with our projects, matter of fact, my guests felt like they were getting thrown out…One positive, and only one, Her assistant, Adriana, was a true delight. She was friendly, bubbly and extremely helpful. I will never host anything at this place again. It was truly a horrible experience and poor business!

My daughter recently attended a birthday party here where the goal was to make a blanket made of yarn--great party favor, right! The only issue was that it didn't seem as though enough time was given for 9/10 year olds to successfully complete the task within 2 hours... that also included pizza and birthday cake time... and you know, just having fun! I believe some of the children's attention span wandered... and it was absolutely freezing in there... that didn't help the overall experience on a very cold, raw, rainy January day. Some pros were that there was plenty of parking in front on a Sunday. The assistant, Adrianna, was a very pleasant, helpful gem.. and the blankets (those that were finished) came out really cute and soft.Great idea, a little rusty in the execution.
