The only problem with this place is the parents who let their kids run around making a mess, it's a store not an amusement park, put a leash on your kids.

They close the fitting rooms way too early. It was only 3:30. I can’t buy anything if I can’t try it on. Not the first time i’ve had this issue.

I love this location! I live across the street from My Unique in Union and womt shoop there. The Union staff should work a day or two a month in the Elizabeth store, watching and learning how to interact with live shoppers. I've been shopping here in Elizabeth since 2007. Everyone, from the staff to the clientele, is friendly, consistently clean and neat, and fully stocked. You never have to wait for excellent service at the jewelry counter. Someone is waiting to help you with a smile. The ladies' department has clothing from NWT to great vintage pieces; the clothes are always neat, clean, and ready for a new home. I love the housewares too. It's a lot of fun shopping at the lower level with furniture, housewares, books, framed art, DVDs, CDs, and so much more.

All I gotta say is that the ARMED security “guard” is a joke, acting all tough and harassing people at checkout. Who hired this guy ?, Seems like buddy took too many steroids and can’t handle them.

Unprofessional so called “security” just because he is armed thinks he can harass people and children and argue with them is ridiculous. Hovering while I pay, at that point just give him a cashier position so he’ll actually do something useful with his time instead of being obnoxious and arrogant. Was this security for cheap hire? Cause that’s what it’s giving with his unprofessional behavior. Again this is not a luxury store for him to be acting like that. It is just a thrift he needs to pipe down. Assuming we didn’t pay for items WHILE HES HOVERING AS WE PAY, is just him looking for a fight. Very poor so called security behavior. Go to the other location so you can avoid getting harassed by him.

I was here Saturday, June 1st and bought a Singer sewing machine, a table and other items. With it, i went to the back door but it was closed because somebody went out. I stayed by the door and tried to get someones attention to help me with my item until all of a sudden the same man that left the door open comes up to me asking me why i was coming in through the back door and why did I close it. I told him I was trying to call for help after he left the door open, and it closed by itself when i went inside. Later, I took my things outside to wait for my son to come pick me up until 2 minutes later, he comes outside with another employee to interrogate me, telling me he needs to check my bag. He started calling me a liar and accusing me of stealing and asks me why I didn't buy this table the day before? At this point I didn't feel the need to answer him anymore. He then told me that the next time I come, he will watch me as I shop because he thinks I am a thief.
I've never felt so disrespected while shopping here. As someone who goes 2 to 3 days a week to shop here, he calls me a liar and a thief? His accent sounded Columbian and I found out that his name is Guillermo. He started speaking English with someone to call me a liar as if I didn't understand well enough.
I never fill disrespect like this day was horrible.

I'm sending this message because I was verbally harassed by an armed security guard by the name of "Carrie" in store yesterday at the Unique Thrift Store located at 116 Broad Street in Elizabeth, New Jersey. I was at the self checkout with my son about to complete my transaction when my son noticed a particular item (sports jersey) that was hanging overhead nearby at the jewelry station. I asked the security officer if it was OK if we could quickly go take a look at the jersey before I completed my purchase. He replied to me "Sure, but one of you have to stay here at the register. He can go look by himself." I replied to him, "No, I need to go take a look with him", not feeling the need to explain to him why I needed to go with my son to examine this item. He then continues, "How old is he?". I say "Seventeen" and he continues "Seventeen? I think he'll be alright, what is he mentally challenged or something?". Unbeknownst to him my 17 year old son is autistic!!! How dare he judge, belittle and insult me and my son unwarranted. I told him "Actually my son is autistic, you should really watch the things that come out of your mouth." He actually argued with me saying "I aint mean it like that", was rude, quite arrogant and never offered an apology! We entered your store yesterday looking for very specific items for an extra curricular function for his high school fundraiser and never thought we would endure this treatment for simply wanting to see an elevated item behind the counter. I never thought a disability had a certain "look" to it and shoppers would have to be screened at the door by a bogus insecure security guard instead of shopping freely without being harassed. I was so upset by this exchange, that on the way out after I made my purchases I found the shift supervisor named "Damion". I expressed my concerns as "Carrie" tried to eavesdrop nearby to hear what we were talking about. His nervous body language deemed that he knew exactly why I was talking to the supervisor off to the side, but still never apologized. I would like an opportunity to express this concern verbally if possible. I want to make sure this disgusting and discriminatory behavior never happens again to anybody else. Moral of the story. TREAT PEOPLE WITH RESPECT OR ELSE ??♀️

The selection here is unbelievable. My husband and I spent two hours browsing the assortment of quality new-enough and vintage clothes, before we even looked at the variety of baby stuff, which is what we came for.The price is right, too. It’s not expensive like how Goodwill and Salvation Army have become. If games, toys, and gifts for kids is what you’re looking for, come here first. I saw large and intricate dollhouses, multiple rocking ponies, soooo many huge and adorable plushies, and of course an assortment of bouncy balls. They have essentially a wall of board games. If you have been to the Unique in Union City and left disappointed, know that the Elizabeth location is totally different.

Always find nice items especially shoes. This location isn't that big and has a very big men's section. The only issue is the pricing for me I'm not sure who they have pricing the items but that needs to be fixed it's a thrift store everything is used. If I have to pay full price I'll buy it new
