An amazing bookstore fill with merchandise of all animes and mangas. Many popular anime/mangas can be found here. It's been awhile since I came here so of course we browse for over an hour here just ohhing and ahhhing everything. End up buying a few books and cute knickknacks. This will last me until next trip out here (probably in another few years hahahaah). The mangas are cheaper than other shops in the city...

Located next to the Daiso store and literally a crosswalk away from the Mitsuwa food court/market, this bookstore will immerse you with the selection of books, magazines and stationery with anything Japanese on it. It's respectably sizeable even though it's no match to the real Kinokuniya in Asia (obviously), and it has a big section of Japanese manga/anime translated into English, to cater to the needs of the fans from both sides of the world. I had fun just reading and exploring for more than 1 hour before narrowing down my selection. The only drawback is there's no benches (I just sat on the floor), but since most of the books are sealed anyway, maybe that's the point. I just book hopped from old 1980s Japanese mecharobot series to the art of/comic version of Miyazaki's latest movie, to cute travel books to Japan, to details on ninja methods, to style guides for geishas and how to craft a beautiful ikebana! Prices are Japanese book prices in the US so naturally they don't come as cheap as you want them to be. Great bookstore to peruse and find little gems.

I was shopping for Japanese literature and opted for Kinokuniya's North Jersey location rather than fighting my way into Manhattan. This location is serviceable but much more limited in depth and variety in Japanese-language books, and this goes for both manga and literature in general. There were a few endcaps highlighting new books and best-sellers though they were not well-stocked or eye-catching. The cashier also asked me whether I knew the books I was buying were in Japanese, which may speak to the target audience for this particular location. If you're looking for something specific and are intent on going to a physical store you should take advantage of this company's free ship-to-store option or consider spending the extra time and money to go into Manhattan where there's a much better selection in a larger and more attractive setting.

Having just visited Japan, my family really enjoyed this store. All of the manga, studio Ghibli, and assorted stationary, etc, in this store brought back some great memories of our trip. It may seem a bit expensive but keep in mind that much of the stuff is exactly what you could buy in Japan ... just with an added shipping cost to the US.

I visited this unappealing bookstore with high hopes of discovering literary treasures, but unfortunately, the experience left much to be desired. The store seemed to be more interested in observing its customers than in providing a welcoming atmosphere or helping them find books. The staff appeared disengaged, and I found myself wandering aimlessly through the shelves without any assistance. It's a shame that such a potential hub for book enthusiasts ends up wasting the time of those who enter, as the lack of customer service overshadowed any potential charm the store might have had.

This is the place for Japanese books and cute stationary items. Creativity on items is different than we usually see in America. You can easily spend 30 or minute in this store.

They have a very wide selection of mangas! The place is very pretty and I go there as many times as I can! It's so well organized and clean inside! I definitely recommend it if you are a manga reader and want a good store to find them in.

What an awesome store! They have one of the most extensive manga selections I've seen in NJ. Very clean and the staff were super friendly.

Cool place to spend time with your kids to get them to enjoy reading with something that is actually printed matter and non-electric. Aside from books and magazines, the store has other cool stuff like backpacks that can be rolled up and stored away like a handbag and novelty items devoted to noodle soup. Sad thing is that I walked throughout this store and the entire mall and couldn't find the popular clip animals that was clipped to rearview mirrors, hairbobs, and was popular in the 80s and the 90s.

It has many Japanese goods and stationery items. The display of books and small and cute items is just like in Japan. So, it reminds me of the bookstores I used to visit in Japan. A fountain pen vendor used to be also here, but it seems that he closed it during covid, which is a disappointment to me as I enjoyed browsing fountain pens.

I'm sorry. Is no one going to mention that THIS PLACE THIS VERY PLACE has an entire shelf on TRAVELERS FACTORY stationary?!?!? I could not BELIEVE my good fortune. Nothing else in the store mattered. Nothing. I'm sure other reviews will tell you what this store is about. This is the only place in New Jersey to find Travelers Factory stationary. If you are not familiar, Travelers Factory, founded in Japan, displays Travelers top quality leather cover customizable notebook and stationary. I totally butchered that. There's no way to write the magical wonder of Travelers Factory notebooks. I am currently planning a summer in Japan and I've seen tons on tons of youtube about it. Its top ten stationary in the world and I can't believe I saw these in person. A bit expensive. But I'm so happy I can come here to buy refill notebooks!!! The bookstore itself is unique. The entrance is right across from the food court entrance of Mitsuwa. There's erasable pens, erasable highlighters, Japanese cookbooks, magazines, planners, toys,.... Parking is a nightmare every weekend. Things start to close past 8pm be sure to visit here before then.
