The cycle tech staff at REI requires a second look. Back when, I dismissed them for obvious reasons. Recently, I got a good price so I thought I'd give it a swing. They beat two high end shops prices and did the work above and beyond the necessary. Antonio, the tech, was everything you want yours to be.

Service was incredible. Very well run store. I ordered a large kayak and naively showed up at the store thinking it would fit in the back of my short bed pick up. Pete and Chris helped me get it secured to the top of my vehicle to make the hour ride home safe and sound. You could tell they enjoyed what they do and helping customers in need. Extremely pleased and thankful for this great experience at REI.

was shocked at how bad the service was. I've been to the East Hanover REI dozens of times and have had nothing but good service until last night. My request was a simple one. I'd lost the keys to my bike rack so i need to have the locks changed out. I called in advance to make sure they had the replacement locks and was helped by a great team member who asked the right questions to make sure i received the right lock and put one aside for me to make sure it was available when i arrived to pick it up. Typical great REI service so far. I get there and walk over to the bike area where I'm greeted by an associate who made it clear it wasn't interested in going outside into the heat to help me. On the way outside he tried to palm me off to another team member who said he didn't know how to replace a lock. We get to my car where he looks at it and says oh you lost your keys (why else would i need to replace the lock). He then goes back into the store to get a set of rack keys but its the second team member who's doesn't know how to change locks that returns. The second team member tries to help but doesn't really understand what he's doing so after 20 min tells me to bring it to a locksmith. Fortunately there's another REI 40 minutes away in Paramus where there team member Ben who did a great job and was able to help me despite the issues that had stumped the East Hanover Store team and he was able to get the locks changed in about 15 min. Thanks Ben! GREAT Job.

Anthony in the shoe department is the GOAT of REI employees. Both my husband and I bought hiking boots on separate occasions and were helped by Anthony. He gave personalized advice and was very patient and receptive as he listened to our feedback. He’s so knowledgeable! We are so lucky to have met him and are very happy with our boot purchases!

Great store. While fairly small, they pack a lot of inventory for customers to make selections. There were also plenty of employees to assist with questions.

Always a pleasure shopping here for treks and outdoor trips. The staff is amazingly friendly and knowledgeable. Best to visit when they have their sales.

Walking into this store for the first time customers we weren't expecting to to have an amazing spectacular experience here, and first walking inside this store brought a really good vibe. Firstly, the employees were amazing, especially Patty. Very helpful, and informative.
If need any help, or have questions, they are the masters. Thanks, everyone in REI for helping me out.

This establishment has severely declined in quality. The staff lack professionalism and customer service, showing a blatant disregard for their responsibilities. They fail to offer assistance or even acknowledge customers in need. The attitude of the individual in the bike shop is particularly disappointing, as if fulfilling basic duties is an inconvenience. It's disheartening to support a business that shows such apathy towards its patrons. I'd highly recommend seeking out a locally-owned bike shop where genuine care and service are prioritized.

Julien in the ski department is phenomenal. We had some issues with the bindings on my skis and he's gone above and beyond in helping me resolve the issue
