I don’t ever really review things, because it seems senseless in a way. However I had to review the pharmacy here because I do think there is obvious discrimination against those of lesser socioeconomic status and perpetuates the inequities associated with the social determinants of health.
I came to this pharmacy for a “controlled substance” prescription I have been on for several years for my ADHD. I recently got a new job in the area so this is my first time coming to this pharmacy and I am inbetween insurances. I received a call saying my prescription was ready. I came through the drive through and learned that because I am in-between insurances they cannot refill my prescription. I said I’m okay with paying out of pocket and have not had insurance for 2 months prior and it was never an issue. She walked away for a second and said they cannot refill my prescription if I don’t have insurance because it’s a controlled substance. I asked why not- her response was “because it’s the law.” I am actually a physician and have several patients without insurance- and have been receiving this prescription from the CVS I’m the state so I was pretty sure that was not the law. I decided to park and come speak with a pharmacy. They said it was fine and started refilling my prescription. Halfway through they said they couldn’t anymore because I have an out of state drivers license. They said they would have to confirm with my prescriber before giving me my prescription.
I kind of understood that and the pharmacy tech said she will make sure on Monday to call the prescriber, refill my prescription, and call me when it’s ready. So I got a call Monday evening saying my prescription was ready.
I came the next day and they said they had nothing for me. I showed them the call and they said they have been on back order for weeks. I told them my story and said they literally were about to give me my prescriptions 2 days ago but held off for the confirmation from my prescriber- they said “we’ve been on back order for weeks, you can try again in another week and they cannot try to send my prescription to another store”
This doesn’t make any sense, and I’m realizing most of the pharmacy techs and desk workers are either liars or don’t want to put up with customers so make stuff up so they don’t have to talk long. However as a physician for underserved patients, it’s frustrating to know that patients can just get straight up lied to and if they are low health literacy they just think they cannot get the care they deserve or need. Please never go to this pharmacy.

I truly hate leaving negative reviews but after using this pharmacy for almost 10 years I can honestly say I haven’t had a positive experience. Every month picking up prescription refills there’s an issue, despite receiving texts that they’re ready for pick up. The pharmacists are unwilling to help and resolve the issue when this happens. Tonight when I went to pick up my refill the pharmacist told me it wasn’t going to be filled. When I asked if this was due to being out of refills or some other reason they just responded “nope. Call your insurance”. My insurance did authorize the refill, just as they always have... I strongly advise anyone who depends on regular medication to go elsewhere. I plan to switch pharmacies asap.

Went to this pharmacy for the first time today as I was looking for one early in the morning on a Sunday. My regular pharmacy opens late on Sundays. After spending about an hour on preparing the medicine, trying to verify insurance etc , they tell me that my insurance is not active anymore and I have to pay the entire amount. Absolutely no idea why they said so even though my insurance is very much active - I just took back my prescription and went to my regular pharmacy store and obviously got all the meds with the insurance coverage. Was a complete waste of time in the morning.

I had to decrease the rating from a sorry 2 to an abysmal 1. It was bad enough how they didn't run my insurance for a medication that I had coverage for.. and then didn't correct it after brought to their attention... but then they gave me a bad gift card???!!!I received credit over a year ago for something and it was given to me in the form of their gift card. I finally decided to go in to use the card and..... it didn't work? When I explained why I had the gc in the first place, I was asked if I had the receipt.. NO, I do not have the receipt from many, many months ago.. I trusted that if I were given the card from the manager that it would work...? I was then given a blank look with a shrug.. then asked how I wanted to pay for the item that I was purchasing.. I said no thank you and walked out. Walgreens will not be getting another cent of my money. Please do yourself a favor and avoid this location altogether!

If you want to get any shots at Ryders lane East Brunswick please reconsider!!!! September I took my mom and older sister to get our flu shots there. The technician shot on top of my sister’s arm that probably damaged her tendon. She was not able to lift her arm and had lots of pain for a long time. We called the pharmacy supervisor a couple of times to ask for help but he didn’t do anything. Doctor gave her the strong steroid pills that didn’t work after she tried the anti-inflammatory pills. Then she started physical therapy for a couple of months already and hoping this can help her to get her strength back. It’s so disappointing that this Walgreens technician had a such terrible skill and the supervisor didn’t care.

Absolutely terrible-0 stars. I never leave reviews, but figured this may save someone else the headache or maybe management will read it and make changes. I have been using this pharmacy for 10+ years and never had problems until the past few years. I have tried to give them the benefit of the doubt with COVID and labor shortages, but it's clear that their problems are more than that. The pharmacy department is so incredibly disorganized, there's no communication (both with patients and among staff), and awful customers service. My doctor sends prescriptions electronically in 3 month increments and for some reason this pharmacy can't figure it out. They have, on multiple occasions, filled the wrong month, which has left me without a valid prescription for the following month because they can't read a date. For the past year there has been a shortage of one of my prescriptions, which is clearly not the pharmacy's fault. HOWEVER, when I go to fill the prescription and they cannot fill because of a stock issue, they do not fill it or even call when receiving a shipment. Most recently, I called them and found out they do have the medicine, but since the date is past the prescription's expiry date it can't be filled -- this makes no sense considering I placed the order well before the expiration date! Luckily my doctor has been amazing with resending prescriptions because of their errors & their inability to locate prescriptions in their system; she also said that she has never seen this many issues with a pharmacy before! I'm not a confrontational person and have always been very calm & polite when expressing my concerns to the pharmacy staff, who come off as aloof/disinterested and essentially tell me that it's my problem and do nothing to correct or redress their mistakes. Walgreens--PLEASE invest in improving your systems, or if the systems aren't the problem, invest in training your staff to utilize those systems effectively.

Zero stars it it were possible. My vet called in a prescription 4:00 yesterday. My husband went to go pick it up at 7:00, he came home and said they said they have no record of the script. I called them to confirm and waited 27 minutes for the pharmacy to answer the phone since there were "2 calls ahead" of mine, as their recording stated. Finally someone answered and I told them my vet called in the script at 4:00 please double check. They said maybe she left a voicemail and put me on hold. I waited another 8 minutes then hung up and figured they were busy with the after-work crowd and will try again in the morning. I called at 10:00 again and once again I waited 25 minutes for them to answer because again, two calls were ahead of mine. A person finally answered and told me the prescription was in and will be ready in 30 minutes. I drove in to the store two hours later and they told me that the meds won't be in stock until tomorrow. Why couldn't they either tell me this on the phone or call me within that 30 minute time period to tell me it is not available? I called CVS in Target and immediately spoke to a pharmacist. Switching pharmacies. Goodbye Walgreens. Reorganize.

Wow... what can i say.... Doc sent them a prescription.... Went to pick up the meds 5 days later.... They still had not filled the prescription... 5 days!!! No apologies no nothing just a shoulder shrug... we back 2 hrs later... script still not filled... went back the morning after... now the whole store is shut down due to their systems being down... the systems down is not their fault but the other 2 times purely just incompetence and nonchalant non caring
