The YMCA Piscataway is a great Community Center for fitness and recreation!! My three little Munchkins just enrolled this Summer “greatest gift” and we are loving it ?! We enjoyed the first swim both indoors and the Outdoors Raritan Rapids! My babies and I are definitely looking forward to starting our family swimming ?♀️ lessons!

My daughter started going here when she was 9 months old. And today she is 7 and l must say this is the best thing what happened to us. She learned everything from Y whether it’s manners, life lessons or about education. She did Pre-k also here and when she went to kindergarten she knew all the things before. Now it’s her 3rd year going to the summer camp and l am so happy for it. She likes the camp so much she never wants to come back.

(PT.2) - There is way too many things wrong with the Raritan Valley YMCA in East Brunswick, New Jersey. One of the gym doors is broken and extremely easy to break in to , they still haven’t fixed it and it’s been years! There is a cockroach problem in the toddler room and the infant room that was not properly taken care of. They had a molding problem in the Pre-K room on the walls and the baby room closet walls, and the mold got painted over instead of being properly removed. The above ground pool is no longer with us , this is because it was rusting pretty bad and the director decided to paint over the rust. This caused the pool to collapse during a camp day while one of the younger groups was swimming. one of the counselors had to rush to get all of the kids out insuring they didn’t get hurt. There was a mice problem and instead of getting pest control, they got mouse traps and put a couple down. The staff was over worked, sometimes they didn’t take breaks and most of the time they were working over the amount of hours they were allowed to be working, and not getting paid overtime or at all for those hours. They did this mostly to minors ! The director, Gina Stravic, ordered a staff member to ask a Spanish speaking American that was at the Y , if they were LEGAL. Gina intended to pay them under the table for janitorial services if they were not. The man who drives the bus during the summer often hits curbs while driving kids to and from the Milltown pool and the Brookside pool. Most of the front desk workers rotate and change very often and they do not know who belongs in the Y and who doesn’t, and without any type of security system or cameras, this makes the Ymca an unsafe environment to have 100+ children inside of. I could go on forever about the hazards this place has , and these poor kids that go here should be withdrawn until the director and management fixes the unsanitary and unsafe environment that the Raritan Valley YMCA is.

Building has a roach infestation
They must of recently bombed and there are many dead roaches just on the floors. They didn't even seem to bother to sweep them up and clean it.
It's really disgusting considering that they work with children here.
I was only here for a summer enrichment program I paid for.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CHILD FOR CARE HERE !!!
My daughter went to this institution when she was 8 months old for the first time ever where she lost weight, I had to tell them multiply times to heat up my babies food to not feed her w it cold, she was always crying at the time of pick up. And they have buns of high school students (KIDS) taking care of kids ridiculous. Only a few of them were nice. Avoid this unsanitary place. Were parents go in and out with their dirty shoes and walk around the whole classroom.

Opens late and closes early. Looks like it is oriented towards kids.

My son was enrolled in childcare here. I don’t recommend this facility because they’re no set teachers, there are always new teachers around your child who never properly introduce themselves. The majority of the staff are either minors or college age students who were placed there for their internships. My child was outcasted multiple times. He came home with scratches on his face multiple times and when I would ask what happened none of the teachers could tell me but when my child would hit someone they were quick to email me about that. They do not monitor the children closely enough. I was told that my son “snuck” off to the baby area. Why is a toddler able to sneak off anywhere when there should be eyes on all children in the classroom at all times? Although it is legal to have infants and toddlers in the same classroom it is honestly unsafe especially when teachers are not doing their diligence. The big teacher Brittany is extremely rude and lazy, she will watch you knock on the door at arrival and just stare until someone else gets up to open the door. I could write an essay of all the negative events I have encountered while my child was enrolled here. While the Y may be right for your family it was not a fit for mine. My son has been attending a new daycare for about a year and has progressed in all academic areas vastly, his social skills have developed significantly and the things that the teachers at the YMCA claimed my child was doing has even been a factor nor discussion at his current daycare. Save yourself the time and frustration from dealing with these unprofessional people.

My daughter attended for 3 days. Day one she walked in and was happy. I pick her up after 8 hours and she was barely feed. Day 2 she didn't want to be there. Picked her up and she was not feed again and her lip was dry from dyhdration. This time she got a cold. Day 3 same thing. I went and saw she was place at the door to sleep. It's 32 degrees outside. When you open the door the cold air hitting her face. She did not eat or drink again for the entire day. I stayed up with her most of the night because her temperature was 102 and she could hardly breathe her nose was so stuffy. They charged $314 a week for her to be abandoned and treated like this is beyond sickening and terrible.I was told by the assistant director that the person that was supposed to feed her got distracted and forgot to feed her. There are alot of children in the room and they can't focus alot on one child. When you enter the toddler room everyone walk in with their shoes on from outside. It's the most unsanitary thing to do. Anyone can pick up your child, there is no sign in and out sheet. When I went to pick up my daughter I was ask if I was there for the new kid.You want your child safe, well taken care of and feed this is not the place.

After coming from a daycare where my 3 year old would scream and cry on the way to every morning… my daughter now is so excited for “school” every morning! She is fully potty trained after only 2 full months in the program and she has even made friends that greet her in the morning and say goodbye every day when she leaves! I am so happy with this daycare and it’s so relieving to see my daughter be happy to go to school while I work! Thank you too all of the YMCA staff!!!

Happy to be back in a fitness and wellness space that is welcoming with a "meet users where they are" health centered philosophy.

Speaking from a bit of experience (19 years as a referee at a different YMCA) I can say that what makes the Raritan Valley YMCA special is their people. The staff at this Y is friendly, caring and just generally nice happy people. Although Raritan Valley isn't the largest and most complete Y in central New Jersey it does a great job at servicing the needs of their community. Their Daycare and Summer Camp programs are a great help to working families and swimming lessons are included. They are the YMCA for youth competitive swimming. Fitness programs are available for Senior citizens with their Silver Sneakers. Zumba and Yoga classes are available for a more intense workout and a complete fitness center with no wait for a treadmill, bike, stepper or weight machine. Personal trainers can help you achieve your personal goals. Open basketball and pickleball are available in their gym for those who play. I highly recommend that you join the Raritan Valley YMCA and take advantage of this great underutilized facility.
