“This is the loveliest children's store we could have imagined. We travel frequently and are always in search of a toy store; Tildie's is our summer favorite, tucked away between shops it is a hidden gem. The selection of toys, stuffed animals and so much more was wonderfully curated and the staff couldn't have been more attentive. Thank you for saving us from Amazon: it was a memorable experience.”
“This is a phenomenal second hand bookstore in Philadelphia. Not only is it in a great location on South Street, but it has a stellar selection of new and used books. Curtis, the owner, makes an effort to find and stock highly sought after and well kept editions. He's also a great conversationalist. I come for the books, but stay for the 30+ minute conversation. Great shop. Great owner. I couldn't recommend Neighborhood Books more.”
“Bindlestiff offers a selection of book that reflect the literate, humorous, leftist politics and personality of the neighborhood so it's a great place to visit as a traveler if you want to get a sense of West Philadelphia, Superb selection of books for both adults and kids. No matter who you are, if you like to read, you will find something fun here. Highly recommended.”

422 South St, Philadelphia“Incredible staff and a great selection of personal care products, holistic products and books. Will be checking this shop out every time I’m on South even if just to chat with the staff. Great folks and products.”
“Keryl is wonderful to connect with and she has created a lovely and inclusive store where you can find a sense of community while exploring a fantastic selection of books!”
“A neighborhood gem and a community hub, they have a well-curated selection of new books, from the latest to classics. A wonderful bright store with friendly staff and a lively event calendar.”
“The proprietors of Authentic Publications are always helpful & patient with me. They make suggestions, based on my questions, as to what books and or CDs might best benefit me.”
“Went in, haven't been here in some time. Glad I stopped in, purchased two books, had some great dialogue. The best Gem in West Philadelphia, and a Historic Landmark.”
“My recent visit to Giovanni's Room was nothing short of magical. My partner surprised me with a romantic setup on the top floor, complete with LED candles, flowers, chocolate strawberries, and my favorite macaroons. But the highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the handmade book filled with journal entries capturing the essence of our relationship, culminating in a heartfelt proposal. Christopher and Kelly, the staff at Giovanni's Room, played an integral role in making this moment unforgettable. Their kindness, support, and attentiveness added a layer of warmth that elevated the entire experience. From offering recommendations to ensuring every detail was perfect, they went above and beyond to create a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. Giovanni's Room isn't just a bookstore; it's a sanctuary where love stories come to life. Whether you're browsing for the perfect read or planning a special moment, you can count on Christopher, Kelly, and the entire team to make it extraordinary. Thank you for an unforgettable evening--I'll cherish the memories created at Giovanni's Room forever.”
“Very quaint and cute books and records shop. Staff very friendly and super helpful. A variety of books, well organized. Books, music, and a cute little kitty to pet, all I need in a bookstore.”
“I have always adored this place since I was a kid because of the incense and I told myself one day I will shop there and I finally did. I loved it here everyone was so friendly and if I needed help I could just ask. There were so many great products there.”
“Lovely place! Books of all sorts & even antique books. Reasonable prices. There's even a bookstore cat (Millie), & the person working the counter said we could stay as long as we needed even though we got there towards closing time. He was so nice & a humble guy. I bought two books, one from the 1800s. Great place!”
“Our book club hosted our monthly get together at the shop and we had the BEST time! The owners made the space welcoming for our group, and we loved browsing the book selections and having a tarot card reading. The shop has a varied selection of books from many genres and we left with a few ideas for upcoming book clubs picks. Can't wait to go back!”

4722 Baltimore Ave, Philadelphia“Books Through Bars does excellent work in sending free book packages to inmates in Pennsylvania and surrounding states. They're completely volunteer-run & host volunteering sessions for people to help pick/pack books. Volunteer organizers are friendly and helpful. I highly recommend volunteering there! You can just drop in & spend 30 minutes or a few hours, whatever you like. Whenever I volunteer there, it feels like I'm really making a difference in someone's life -- because I am. It's an eye-opening experience that gives me a new perspective. Books Through Bars also takes donations (money, books they need, supplies) so there are lots of ways to support them even if you can't make it down there in person.”
“went to House of Our Own Books and was blown away with the enormous book collection! The ambiance was welcoming and comfortable, and the personnel was informed and helpful. I spent hours browsing and ended up with a few goodies.”

7 N 2nd St, Philadelphia“This is quintessential Philly: old-school cool, inviting, no-frills, and has a residential cat (Dr. Pickles). Their two floors are stacked floor to ceiling with books, vinyls, and dvds to the point where you may feel a bit claustrophobic. If you're looking to hunker down with a book, you can find a few stools and chairs scattered throughout the place. They have an excellent variety of inventory, and I always manage to find a neat book (or three). If you're looking for a deal, there's a couple $2 book bargain shelves, and most of the books I've checked are in the $5-9 range. However, one thing that caught my attention was the pricing of a couple books, where the written price was marked higher than the original retailer price. Pro tip: be sure to catch a glimpse of Dr. Pickles! He's often on the second floor by the windows.”
“love to come here for new books! I wish there was a map of the store. It was hard to find certain books but I’m still happy. Cafe was nice I got a really big sugar cookie and drink was good too! The line was little too long to make a membership but I will next time.”
“Wooden shoe books have an amazing selection of books, and the building has an amazing vibe. The store suplys free condoms, lube, and other products. The workers are very kind and helpful. Overall, the store was amazing.”

619 S 2nd St, Philadelphia“The vibes were immaculate I don't know what else to say they just were!! The employees were amazing and we had nice conversations about books and Emily Dickinson. All of the things that this store sells were so cute and perfect; bookmarks, tiny pencils, notebooks etc. I went there for a concert and throughly enjoyed being at this store. They also made an account for me and said if I get 100 points then I'll get a discount and even rang up my 2 pieces of chocolate (after I bought a book) so that it would count for the points!!”
10AM - 5PM

“It was a decent place. Employees very friendly and helpful. I just think that the prices are a little high considering it is supposed to be an outlet but other than that it was ?”
10AM - 6PM
311 N 20th St, Philadelphia“I love the relaxed atmosphere here. The prices are reasonable and the staff is kind! I almost always find something worth taking home. I noticed some books were out of alphabetical order, but it's otherwise well-organized and easy to find books based on a genre/interest. Not an overwhelming shop compared to other used book stores I've been to, and the cute cat is a plus!”
“Philadelphia's oldest and best comic book shop. I've been a customer for years and I've been able to buy everything from great reprint books, to classic comics, to the latest releases... basically books from every genre you possibly want. Great store!”

106 Clements Bridge Rd, Barrington“Awesome shop to find secondhand vinyl at an unbeatable price! I've found so many albums here from Crosby Stills and Nash to Dolly Parton to Bruce's Born to Run. I once came in and got 10 albums in good condition for $20. If you ever have a question the staff is very helpful. Definitely check them out.”
