I'm new to the Porsche world, and have a 997 that is at risk of the IMS bearing issues. I researched about the direct oil feed system and came across Jay and Jackie. From the outset, the knowledge base and friendliness was evident. When you actually visit the site you realize that they not only know their Porsches, they love what they do! This is a rarity in so many businesses nowadays. After receiving a thorough explanation of what was performed with the old/damaged parts of things Jay found that could have been disastrous, the trust level for me is now high. If you own a Porsche and need advice, repairs and service, this is the authoritative place! Highly recommended!

I have a 41 year old Porsche 911SC that I took to The Popular Mechanic for some suspension work and an alignment. Some problems were discovered along the way due to the car's age and original condition (worn suspension bushings, and more). Jay is extremely knowledgeable, personable and honest, and a true "Porsche guy." He diagnosed the car's issues, fully explained what was needed and provided repair options every step of the way. He is a passionate perfectionist in the best way and truly wants the best for his customers and their cars. All I can say is, my car rides and handles astoundingly well now. What a difference refreshing the old components made! The entire process was a pleasure and both Jay and Jackie were extremely kind and knowledgeable. I could easily have spent an entire day just talking about Porsches with them. The Popular Mechanic has earned a loyal customer and I would recommend them to anyone with a classic Porsche. Jay was able to diagnose and replace a worn out gear detent that resolved a shifting issue in a low mileage PCar, whereas several other mechanics said it was a synchro problem and needed a trans rebuild.

Jackie and Jay are friendly and knowledgeable. I haven't had them do a major project on my car yet, but I'm sure it will happen. I'm glad to have them close to home, even though I do a fair amount of my own work. It is good to have a mechanic nearby that you can rely on.

I purchased a 1980 Porsche 911 from a friend who needed money. Normally, I never would have bought a car needing so much work, but it had some sentimental value, as a close friend who died owned it. I was recommended to Jay and Jackie. The car had been basically neglected in every way for about 30 years, and needed almost everything. Jay did a great job, with high quality, old school German precision workmanship to make this car right again. Even though parts costs on these cars are high, Jay helped me save money several times. I now have a safe running and driving car I can enjoy. Thanks again to Jay and Jackie!

I visited Jay and Jackie to get a pre-purchase inspection on a 2004 911 4S coupe. They were super nice and welcoming and explained everything that was going to be looked at in detail. After the inspection was started a few bigger issues were discovered and they stopped the inspection to let me know. They walked me through everything they found - showing me in the car so I knew what they were seeing too. Jay and Jackie gave me great advice and you can truly see they care about their customers and they love these cars. Whenever I do find my 911 I will not hesitate to bring it to Popular Mechanic for upkeep!
