The Greater Morristown YMCA is a facility with significant contrasts. It is described as an awesome, beautiful, and very big YMCA with top-notch, clean, and well-maintained facilities. It offers a large pool, a hot tub, a track, and a basketball court, with great courses and knowledgeable teaching staff. Many find it a great facility that offers a lot for the price and has made awesome improvements. However, experiences vary greatly. The customer-facing staff is frequently called amazing and pleasant, cited as a key reason people stay. Yet other reviews report serious concerns with some staff, particularly at the swimming pool, describing unprofessional behavior, frustration, and a lack of confidence in their diligence. There are also reports of some members and staff displaying discriminatory behavior based on appearance or skin color, creating a frustrating environment for people of color. Recommendations for staff include psychological counseling and interpersonal training. Management faces criticism for operational issues. The facility can become overcrowded and inaccessible, especially when mystery busses discharge mobs of teenage boys or during swim meets that completely fill the parking lot. Some members feel management has lost control, turning the gym into a playground in the afternoons that is unsuitable for adults. Additional charges for some classes, on top of membership fees that are not cheap, are also noted as a point of contention. While some appreciate the community cross-section and defend the presence of kids, others find these disruptions decisive in leaving for another gym.
The best Y I have ever been too. Great for family’s with teenage children who like to use all the Y has to offer.

Nice facility however some of the front desk staff are somewhat dismissive and rude, both over the phone and in person.
