Had a hard time finding the right belt for a mower...a stop in this store solved the issue...and at a fairly cheap price compared to online prices and even other common stores. Need a specific part...try this store. Very knowledgeable staff...

This hardware store was one of the first places in town that I visited when I moved to town a year or so ago. I had a lot of little repairs and home improvements to do, so I knew I needed a place close by to rely upon. I made it my business to meet and introduce myself to the owner (Jerry) who in turn introduced me to another staff member. They welcomed me warmly to the town and the store and have been as welcoming every time that I’ve been in the store (which is probably dozens of times by now), even when it’s busy and chaotic. As an African-American male, who was moving to a town known to have some conservative views, I made it my business when I moved to this town to get out and to meet and introduce myself to people, especially local business owners. I know all too well after 50 years what it’s like to be followed around stores (regardless of the community’s political views) as if I’ve hired a personal bodyguard upon entry. I also have a teenage son who himself worries about how he’s perceived when he’s out and about (since he doesn’t wear his 4.2 HS GPA on his forehead). So I wanted to be sure when we moved to town that everyone knew that we were here and that we were going to support their businesses and I can say, without reservation, that Major Hardware has become one of my favorite businesses to patronize. I’m welcomed and superserved when I visit (not in the bodyguard sense). They always try to help me to figure out the best solution to a project or problem. In fact, Jerry the owner has even offered to come to my home after closing and give me advice about how to tackle a project!! This is why we support small businesses. It has always been worth it to me to pay a little more to make sure that these businesses survive and thrive.

The 2020 presidential election is over, but there is a sign that reads "Hillary for Prison" boldly displayed behind the counter for all customers - including women - to see. This is not only rude and disrespectful, but misogynistic and perpetuates violence against women. I will not return and my money will be spent elsewhere from now on.

Not a great place. The back counter is plastered with offensive political signs and it is staffed by a large group of men who follow you around the store and push sales onto you. Not a comfortable place for women.

Went to Major Hardware looking for a missing screw for an ornate door handle. Had the handle with me. Showed the young man who had asked me if a needed help. Showed him the handle. "Oh, you need a set screw." Went over to the screws and tested a few trying to find the correct size. Called over to the owner (I believe) to make sure he was doing it correctly. Owner told him to use an actual screw to ensure the size was correct. He did. Had the right size. Got one extra set screw and the right Allen wrench. If you're just not sure what you need, this is the place to go. They will happily help you and most likely have what you need. They are my first stop now for plumbing, hardware, etc. Nice people happy to help you.

The owner and the whole staff is amazing there. Very informative very helpful. It literally feels like I'm going into a family members house when I walk in there.
