A Delightful Retreat for Dog Lovers and Beach Enthusiasts
For several years, The Blue Fish Inn has been our cherished home away from home in Cape May, NJ. This charming inn holds a special place in our hearts, not only for its comfortable accommodations and welcoming atmosphere but also for its exceptional pet-friendly policy that has allowed us to create countless memories with our beloved English Labs.
Warm Welcomes and Heartfelt Hospitality
Upon arriving at The Blue Fish Inn, we were greeted with the same warmth and hospitality that first drew us to this delightful retreat. The owners are lovely people who go above and beyond to ensure their guests feel at home. They were especially understanding and supportive when we lost our dear Herkales and Samson in 2020, just 11 days apart. After taking a break from traveling, we finally returned in 2024 with Calypso, our energetic English Lab, and were overjoyed to find the inn as wonderful as ever.
Ideal Location and Dog-Friendly Beaches
The Blue Fish Inn boasts an unbeatable location, just about half a mile from the beach. This proximity makes it easy to enjoy the sun, sand, and surf whenever we please. During peak season, we prefer to take Calypso to Higbee Beach, a dog-friendly spot where she can frolic and swim to her heart's content. The inn's convenient location also provides easy access to various other dog-friendly areas, making it a paradise for pet owners.
Dining with Our Four-Legged Friend
Cape May is renowned for its dog-friendly restaurants, and The Blue Fish Inn is perfectly situated to take advantage of these culinary delights. From casual cafes to fine dining establishments, many local eateries welcome canine companions, allowing us to enjoy delicious meals without leaving Calypso behind. It's always a treat to dine out with our furry friend and experience the best of Cape May's vibrant food scene.
Cozy Accommodations and Thoughtful Amenities
The rooms at The Blue Fish Inn are cozy, clean, and well-appointed, providing a comfortable retreat after a day of exploring. The inn offers a variety of amenities designed to make guests' stays as pleasant as possible, including complimentary Wi-Fi, a refreshing swimming pool, and a lovely sitting area outside your room and was perfect for relaxing with a good book or playing with your dog.
A Community of Dog Lovers
One of the most heartwarming aspects of staying at The Blue Fish Inn is the sense of community among fellow dog lovers. It's a joy to meet other guests who share our passion for pets and to swap stories and tips about the best local spots to visit with our dogs. This camaraderie adds an extra layer of enjoyment to our stays and makes us feel part of a larger, pet-loving family.
The Blue Fish Inn in Cape May, NJ, is more than just a place to stay—it's a haven for dog lovers and beach enthusiasts alike. Easy online booking, simple check in by friendly staff, a very quiet and comfy off-season overnight experience with our no-bark family. All expectations were met. Room was clean, bathroom and kitchenette included typically everything. Our pups thought the couch covers were a nice touch.

FANTASTIC experience! I highly recommend the Blue Fish Inn. We had 2 rooms for 3 nights for us and family. Lena was beyond gracious with our ever-evolving plans, adding an extra night and sending confirmation emails immediately. It was a rare experience to have such dedicated, attentive, and kind owners. The rooms and property were immaculate and a welcome place to stay. We had our 9 lb. chihuahua with us and loved that they provided sheets to cover the couches and bed. The laminated instructions were very helpful for the TV. We appreciated being able to rent by the day and being pet-friendly. The pet-relief area was great, as well. I can't say enough about this place and the owners. If we are given the opportunity, we would stay here again and again.

We just stayed three nights for a long weekend with our dog. The room was great, private, clean, neat, and well appointed. It had everything we needed and more. Ownership seemed very nice and attentive to detail. We are glad we stayed there!

The Blue Fish Inn is a quaint little gem in the middle of Cape May within walking distance to the beach and town. There are dog-friendly rooms available. The owner/property manager are very nice and accommodating. The rooms are clean and there is a pool and courtyard area with a grill on the property available to use. We have stayed several times and will be back.

I stayed at the Bluefish Inn the 3rd week in September with my son and my shipooh. This was the first time I took my dog away and it worked out really well. It was a perfect place for walking into town or the beach. We also had the room with the full kitchen which was great for us. The room was super clean and decorated nicely. I plan on going back next September.

My family and I stayed at the Blue Fish Inn while on vacation in Cape May and were very pleased. The property is clean and very well kept. It has a pool, an outside patio in the back where guests can grill and gather with their family, an outside shower to wash off the sand, chair and umbrella service while at the beach, daily continental breakfast, a laundry facility, and even ice. The owners, Franco and Lena, were very pleasant and made sure that my family and I were enjoying our stay at their Inn. I can see why there are so many positive reviews as you can tell that they truly care about their guests' vacation experience. Thank you again.

The Blue Fish Inn is a very clean and quaint inn. The property is immaculate with very nice amenities for families and couples. The pool is great and the rooms have just what you need. I stayed here years ago with friends and then again with my husband. We will definitely be back in the future. A couple blocks from the beach and depending on where you are going on the boardwalk it is walkable to everything. Having the beach chairs and umbrella setup at the beach was a major plus and such a great convenience.

Came here by recommendation of a family member and I can understand why they've been coming back for over a decade! Blue Fish Inn provided a wonderful experience for my new family's first vacation and definitely won't be the last time we visit. We arrived late on a Friday evening (930pm) and I was expecting to have a difficult time checking in at that hour, but to my surprise, Franco had stayed in the office waiting for me as the last guest to check-in that day. He was very welcoming, even after waiting all that extra time.Throughout our long weekend stay, Franco and Lena were such fantastic hosts. They were always around making sure the hotel was in top shape, always asking if we needed anything or just stopped to have a friendly conversation.Everything was immaculately clean and blew me and my wife's expectations out of the water. The hotel is a mere 10 minute walk down Madison Ave to the beach, providing a great central location to visit any part of Cape May. As an added bonus, you get some free passes for beach chairs and umbrellas from the hotel that you'd otherwise pay for, so that was an awesome bonus during the stay. Additional things we loved at the hotel; provided outdoor shower and clothes line to dry all your wet clothes. In the back of the hotel, there's some community grills and plenty of seating so if you wanted to make a meal, you can do so .If you're looking for a wonderful place to stay on Cape May, Blue Fish Inn is definitely the place to be!

My friend and I only stayed for one night, but we were highly impressed by the Blue Fish Inn. The bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen were all immaculately clean. Our room was close to the street but we did not hear any loud traffic or other noise during the night.I was also impressed by the additional door security. The deadbolt cannot be unlocked from the outside if anyone happened to get a copy of your room key. In an emergency, I would guess that the manager has a master key to unlock the deadbolt if you are inside your room and cannot unlock the door. There is also a heavy duty door stopper, instead of a chain, that you can use if you need to open the door a little bit to see who’s outside.I would definitely come back to this place the next time I’m at Cape May!

We stayed here for the first time and was very impressed with this inn. The owner and staff are very welcoming, friendly, and responsive. The room we had was very clean (along with the grounds) and check in and check out was very easy. We will definitely stay here again!
