I would like to gatekeep this place. I don’t want anyone else to know how peaceful it is. How nicely the gravel crunches under your feet in the garden. The way soft jazz music floats thru the property, or how good it smells. How close it is to a really lovely stretch of beach.I don’t want anyone else to know any of those things, because I want to be able to come back to this place and soak all of it up again and again. So don’t go. Or if you go, I hope you hate it. Unfortunately, I’m sure you won’t.

Beautiful hotel, but more beautiful on pics. Our room had only one lamp, no lamp on my side of the bed, the curtains were not fixed, we couldn't not open them, the sink was broken. The woman at the lobby could be sometimes clueless and it seems it was hard to be listened. Like we annoy them. Great breakfast, great location, great porch...but it doesn't worth what we paid...even the tv, we struggled a lot lot to turn off the light of it....the beach on the site seems private, indeed it is a public beach, the plus is they lend to us chairs, towels and umbrellas...

There are not enough words to describe what The James Bradley and the incredible people who work there mean to me! We hosted a small pre-wedding ceremony here with immediate family and I could not have asked for the day to have gone smoother or to have felt more welcomed or at home. The biggest reason for this is Keith! Keith provided the most warm, friendly, attentive service and put my mind at ease through all the chaos of an event. He is truly an example of what it means to be thinking of the client/customer at all times as well as just a wonderful human being all around. In addition to that, the hotel is gorgeous, clean, and the design feels like it’s out of an AD magazine—stunning. I could not have asked for a better stay or better event here. Thank you thank you!

This was a great place to stay. It was clean recently renovated, comfortable & modern. The breakfast offered was made fresh in their kitchen each day and was delicious. Just 1 block to the beach. Be sure to book your reservations early! We will be back!

Beautiful, clean boutique hotel 1 block from the beach. The James Bradley has free beach chairs, beach towels, umbrellas and beach tags for guests, too!We had no problem finding a "good" parking spot very close to The James. There are several outdoor spaces: the front porch, a beautiful fire pit area and a cute, little "cafe" area with fairy lights that turn on at night. The landscaping is so tasteful and thoughtfully arranged. The hotel smells wonderful and our rooms did, too.Rooms: Rooms are super, incredibly clean and carefully curated and decorated by NYC interior designers. However, the rooms I saw (Rooms 3 and 4) were so, so, so DARK! The bathroom's only light fixture was about as bright as two small nightlights. The bathroom had a beautiful mirror over the sink but it was utterly unusable. I had to keep my room door open while in the bathroom in an attempt to gain a few more shreds of light. To put on makeup, I had to sit on the floor in front of the open closet door (the only mirror in room is on the back of the closet door) and place a small side lamp (shade removed) on the floor for illumination. I practically burned my retinas with the bare lightbulb and I just gave up on wearing makeup for the rest of our stay.I have never, ever, ever stayed in such a poorly lit space in my entire life. I'm sure the lighting is deliberate and about creating a "mood." But that setup left me feeling irritated, bemused and in desperate need of some concealer!!Food & drinks: The complementary breakfast is awesome!! Their coffee is also really good but it's only available from 8-10am.I really wished they had coffee available all day like most hotels do. Especially because there aren't any coffee/tea making equipment/supplies in the rooms.Noteworthy details: One other caveat... If you have a ground floor room, you WILL hear the people in the rooms above. I mean you will hear EVERYTHING!!! At least that was my experience. When the people above took showers, we could hear a loud "water" sound for the entire duration of their shower. In a 2 night stay in connecting rooms 3 and 4, my sister and I heard sounds from the two rooms above to include: hangers sliding in their closets, coughing/throat clearing, the opening of soda cans, every detail of any/all sexual activity and EVERY SINGLE FOOTSTEP MADE BY THE GUESTS ABOVE. I MEAN EVERY. SINGLE. STEP.I wish I was joking or exaggerating but I'm not. The guests above weren't even being "loud." There just seemed to be nothing between the floors to dampen sound penetration.

So my wife and I stayed here for 2 nights and quite honestly when you pull up, we weren't sure what to expect. But we were blown away. The service was wonderful and they were all super kind. The breakfast was spectacular and the walk to the beach was easy. Honestly it exceeded all our expectations. Can't wait to stay here again.

We just spent a long weekend here for the first time and loved every moment at the James Bradley! Great place to stay, rooms are adorable and very clean! Breakfast is good, and the amenities are great too. Great location, being only a 4 minute walk to the beach! Keith specifically was incredibly helpful and kind. I highly recommend staying here!

Miscommunication about the room reservation. Only one queen per room after being told on the phone I was booking 2 queens, no rollaways - no accommodations or respectful customer service. Booked two rooms and couldn't use either room because there were 3 people staying in each room - called to find a fair resolution, but unfortunately, the manager, Brandon was defensive and rude on the phone. If you have any issues with the hotel, there's no resolution - they'll just charge you 100%.

Exceptional! Totally zen, modern with a warm and welcoming vibe. I loved my stay here. They decor is simple and beautiful, the staff was accommodating and kind, and the food was incredible. A block or so from the beach with street parking. My room was very comfortable and relaxing and I loved the warm homemade cookies on my dresser when I checked in. Such a nice touch. The back yard fire pits were unexpected and fun. I'd love to rent all 10 rooms for a girls weekend. I just loved it here!

Held our pre-wedding festivities here and couldn’t have had a better experience. Keith was responsive, thoughtful, and a pleasure to work with. The rooms and backyard are beautiful!

We had a nice enough stay but there were some things that were just a bit awkward that could be easily fixed to make a stay better.Starting with the entrance to the rear building - walking through gravel while towing bags and such isn't ideal. Why not place paving stones? Then in the bathroom - no place to put anything. We occupied two bedrooms with one bath between. So four of us shared the one bath but there's not enough towel racks to hang 4 towels, or shelf space for much more than 4 toothbrushes. It wasn't terrible, just awkward. And finally, no "do not disturb" signs to hang on the door. So housekeeping managed to wake up our sleeping teen twice. And housekeeping is a funny word for it because they took all the washcloths without leaving dry ones, but left the dirty dishes from the welcome cookies. No big deal but just a little awkward. One last issue - we couldn't figure out how to turn off the TV so we had to unplug it to go to sleep. On the plus side, the baked goods offered at the morning breakfast were all delicious!

My wife and I stayed here in April. The room was nicely designed, with a beautiful bathroom. It’s a five minute walk to the beach and the two gentlemen that greeted us and helped us out were wonderful. Very unique and beautiful place to stay. Highly recommended.

I am an employee at The James, and I'm not giving good reviews because I work there. I can honestly say not only is the The James a great place to work. The staff are very nice and welcoming when I first started working there. I met people from a lot of different states, and they are all such nice people. George, is my boss and he is by far the most caring person.. The James is beautiful and a very nice motel. Once you stay at The James once, you will for sure come back. I Love It..❤
