Came here for a relaxer after a friend's recommendation. Nice family run place. Got a relaxer with other treatment after being natural for quite some time ($325). My hair came out lovely. And the stylist, Kim was friendly. The owner was too. Very well run place and clean.Only thing is be ready for a possible wait. I waited for about 2 hours with a hair appointment. I believe the stylist was running behind, but a courtesy call would have been great. My first time there, and will return for hair maintenance, etc. Hopefully the service is consistent. Overall, it's a good spot.

Don’t come here if your on a budget. I came here just asking for a trim. They told me I had to do a consultation when I thought that was completely unnecessary because all I wanted was a trim. They told me I needed a keratin and scalp treatment. They kept Insisting on it and touching my hair like it’s the most damaged hair in the world. My scalp was fine since I do scalp treatments at home every week using a mielle product. But I felt so insulted by the way they were looking at my hair so I took the treatments. They charged me so much for something that didn’t give me life changing results. They also charged me for a haircut not a trim which makes a huge difference in price. I paid 300 dollars just for myself. And it was honestly not the most fantastic hair transformation. They kept charging me for so many unnecessary things and very expensive. My hairdresser also told me to come back in two weeks to do another treatment literally after I paid 300 dollars just for this visit she still wants more money from me. Please don’t come here if your on a budget and want to save money. I completely regret coming here and will never return.

I have been going to Salon Femi for years on and off and for the most part I usually like how my hair looks. Kenya the owner usually does my hair.Overall she is rude and obnoxious. She berates customer's hair and will add products without asking permission or having a discussion about it. Most recently she added permanent color to my already relaxed damaged hair without talking to me about it first. I usually get a rinse. When people go to the hairdresser they expect to walk out feeling and looking their best and this is not it!

Salon Femi is the best salon existing! Most urban salons give you the illusion they're great when they're the complete opposite but salon femi is by far have most skilled and talented stylists working there.Everyone is extremely nice and welcoming, you don't feel judged plus it's extremely CLEAN and updated. I felt really comfortable being there.I've been natural for over 7 seven years and decided, relaxing my hair works best for me to manage my hair. My stylist was Kim, who by far is AMAZINGLY TALENTED, relaxed and trimmed my ends. I loved the way she gave me the pro's and con's to being relaxed/natural without any shame. The best part of the service was seeing how she knew exactly what my hair needed. I still receive compliments, even 5 wks later. Thanks for everything Kim!

I had an appointment here today. To no surprise they lost my appointment. I originally made a one for the 11th. I called back to push it to another time, but was told they did not have me scheduled in the first place. I then made it for today the 25th. When I arrived, I was told I was not scheduled. The customer service at this establishment is horrible. The older woman at the front gave me an attitude, then the person I’m assuming is the owner said she’s “about solutions.” She spoke down to me, wouldn’t let me get a word out and gave me the “solution” to come back later that day. It’s a shame that they treat paying clients like this! Especially for how much they charge! I really enjoyed the way Tammy does my hair, but the customer service from everyone else is not worth it. I expected more from this place. I was excited to support a black business, especially a real hair salon… but never again.Service: Hairstyling

I'd like to start off by saying, that I've never been here before but there’s a first and last for anything. The woman who I assume to be the owner took a look at my hair giving me a little consult, while she ran he hands thru my hair, she held it like she was touching it like it was some other worldly germ, right before telling me I don’t need to feel anyway or embarrassed about the state of my hair that’s condescending.I was then handed off to the hairdresser with the short hair was whose name started with a D. Immediately very controlling, telling me how to sit, how to move my body, it was irritating. I couldn’t feel less comfortable around these women. Hairdresser constantly telling me to stop moving my head while she takes a shaky Hand trying to drag thru dry hair with a hairdryer and a brush, no ma’am that was just gravity. Id sit still as rock, bending my head down wasn’t good enough, tilting my head wasn’t good enough, it’s like she was expecting me to operate like mannequin as tons of heat and dragging was applied to my head. I kept having to reassure her that I’m not moving. At one point I was like, no I don’t like the atmosphere, I don’t like her delivery and wanted to cut it short and leave and they basically tried to say that I couldn’t “we don’t let customers leave out the house like that” well it wasn’t a welcoming home to begin with, I wanted out. I wanted the hairdresser to use the olaplaex bonding oil in my hair for heat damage sake, she didn’t know what it was and didn’t wanna use it, fair enough. $145 for a wash & blow, haircut and a straightening, I’d think this service came with some kind of good hospitality, nope, but it came with a nice haircut(only reason I gave 2 stars). From going to lower priced salons to coming here I expected better treatment. Never again!Services: Shampoo & conditioning

Salon Femi is one of the best salons I have ever been to. The entire staff is professional. The atmosphere is always warm and welcoming. The services are reasonably priced as well. My hair feels so healthy and it makes me happy to receive so many compliments. I would recommend them 10/10!Service: Hairstyling

Enjoyed my experience. However, I am disappointed because when I tried to make a followup appointment with the stylist. I was told that there is a deposit that has to be paid. I’m confused because when I booked my 1st appointment, I was never asked for a deposit. Very surprised and major turnoff. To be clear, it’s the inconsistency that I am displeased with.Service: Hairstyling

My new favorite Hair Salon for natural hair! They are extremely professional, a bit pricy but I'm worth it. My hair feels and looks healthy and beautiful EVERY TIME I visit. No complaints here at all.

I have been a loyal client of Kenya’s at Salon Femi for over 6 years, and I couldn’t be more pleased with her professionalism and skills. I came to her looking for an asymmetrical shaved look and she delivered with precision. Since then, Kenya has cut my hair in a variety of ways, and every time, she finds a way to make my natural curls look their best. The way she studies my hair, works within its confines and accentuates its better qualities allows me to wear my natural hair with confidence. Even though I’ve moved to Morristown, it’s worth the trip to Bloomfield for a haircut and style by Kenya because she always makes me look my best. When it comes to the salon experience as a whole, the hair wash, wrap, cut, blowout, curly set and press are top notch, no matter who you see. All her stylists are incredibly talented, have been there for years and are very professional. The music is smooth and the atmosphere and decor is beautiful, inviting and warm. However, no review would be complete if I didn’t mention how kind and thoughtful Kenya, Brenda and her stylists are. When you walk into the salon, they greet you like you’re part of their extended family and make you feel right at home. Kenya is, by far, my all-time favorite hair stylist and her salon is the very best.Services: Haircut

Today is my 65th Birthday. I have an event to attend to, this evening, so I wanted to look fabulous with a big chop (haircut). My scheduled appointment was for 1:00. I arrived at 12:45. Around 1:00 Kenya finally comes to me, and asked, what services am I looking to get. Confusion #1, because when I scheduled the appointment, I clearly stated what I want. Around 1:30, Kenya yells across the salon, that she's running about an hour behind and she has a big blow out to do. Confusion #2, I've already waited 30 minutes and getting steamed at this point, but because she's a fabulous stylist, I decided to wait. It's now 2:30!!! What happened to 2:00!!!???. Finally, someone comes over and said she's going to get me started. I was so ANGRY and HEATED, I just got up and told the young Lady, IM LEAVING AND WILL NOT WAIT ANY LONGER!! I lost a days pay, wasted gas, wasted tolls and a COMPLETE waste of my day!! I live over an hour away. I allotted two hours for the services, and ended up going back home looking BUSTED!! Then to pour more salt in the wound, Kenya has the receptionist call me to ask if I want her to refund my deposit . I expected more from Ms Kenya, and would think she'd pick up the phone to call me with an apology, and to ask me to reschedule. I guess it doesn't matter to her if she loses a customer. She's seen the last of me.
