Just terrific. A vestige of a bygone age. Incredibly, the store is located in the driveway of a residential house on a quiet, leafy street. (Almost certainly grandfathered in.) Anyway, it's an old-time tennis shop staffed by relatives of the man who founded the place in 1913. Good, high-end racquet selection; good accessories; even has some sneakers and clothes. Super-friendly staff is very accommodating and even generous with pricing and the occasional freebie. I feel good about patronizing this place. I mean, tennis warehouse is great, but do they really need your business?

Friendly staff who was very knowledgeable about different strings and play style. The store is very well stocked with all new rackets and strings you could possibly want from beginners to experienced players. Gave a great deal on stringing. Can't find prices and services like this anywhere else. 10/10 recommend.

I drove around an hour to get here and I must say it was worth every minute. As a newer tennis player, I have little-to-no knowledge about tennis equipment. Luckily, Rich was attentive, caring, and extremely helpful. He's an all-around pleasant person! He helped me pick out a bag, shoes, and figure out which racket and grip size would suit my needs. And, even when I could not find a specific racket, he advised me on what to do. Whether you're a new or experienced tennis player, I would highly recommend Hapward's Tennis Shop!

I visited the shop with the intention of having my racquet re-strung. I'm new to tennis, but it felt like the time to have this done. Instead, I was told my strings were fine. I really appreciate this example of honesty over a narrow focus on earning money. I ended up buying a new racquet to have as a spare, and the employee gave me a great deal. I'll certainly be coming back.

Hayward's has been around forever. My Dad, George Butler, always went here. He played for East Orange HS and was a state champion in the late '30s. After WWII, my sisters and I came along, and I was the only one that shared his passion. He took me to Hapward's for my first racquet that is more closely a wooden racket ball racquet, which I also used to teach my sons. From there I wanted to emulate him and bought a Davis TAD, which I also still have, hanging in my office. My Da's on one wall and mine on the other. We had great debates about metal when I switched to the Wilson T2000, (also purchased from Hapward's) and then the three Arthur Ashe versions. Sadly my Dad passed at the early age of 71, but the memories of our love of the game and visits to Hapward's live on with me. The best service and insights possible will come from Hapward's, well beyonf\d what you can just read on the internet. We now live in Colorado, but I did purchase some things through the mail, and thank you for the care and understanding you provided.

Fred and Rich are great. Very good selection of rackets and tennis accessories and have good sales on demos and tennis shoes. Rich is perhaps one of the best stringers in Tri State area.
