"You can NOT bring your children (<18 yo) with you into the locker room(same gender). The locker rooms are ONLY for adults." Yes you read that right. This is what the Sr. Director of Membership Larrie Graham said to us. I went to check the policy on the wall and it didn't say anything about this. I showed the policy picture, then Ms. Graham said "I am telling you what the policy is". Very rude and unprofessional. $140/month for family membership plus $95 sign up fee (They did not mention this when we signed up.) This is not a YMCA for family with little children.

There are old people here who take vulnerable photos of people while working out. Please whatever you do, do not come to this YMCA location.

I am a member of the Nir Family YMCA in Wilmington NC. I signed up for the Pickleball challenge on Thursday Feb. 9th at the Berkeley Heights YMCA. When I checked in I was told that there would be a $15.00 charge to play because of high demand. There were 12 people playing and no one waiting. Shouldn't I have been told when I made the reservation on line that I would be charged to play? The desk person first told me it would cost $15.00 and later on said it would be $10.00. Non Profit? Nationwide program? I would not recommend this YMCA to anyone.

Very rude people, once we arrived they don’t even say hello, they made imposible for me and my family to go in my family are members but I guess they don’t like Latinos in there after they made us create accounts for guess pass they said you going to pay $20 dollars just to go in for 1 hour! I don’t think is worth it, mind you some customer Jeff walk in with his guess and shouted to Ted hey this are my guest Ted and Ed said oh ok welcome without asking a single question but to us they put some many obstacles I felt so discriminated, I feel they were races if I said this is because the face expressions can tell everything I don’t have to be a psychologist to understand what is going on!!! the way they both addressed to us the remarks are not necessarily as Ted ask me to step to the side bc I’m pushing. Once I addressed my concerns and how I felt Ted run to called his manager which was unnecessary bc he was very unprofessional, less care and visibly told me this is who we are whether you like it or not, all I need it was to be treated fairly and with respect I’m not asking for anything free. There is not customer service skills unless you are white

The Berkeley Heights Y is a brand-new, modern, well-equipped fitness facility with tons of great programs for families, children, seniors, and singles. There's childcare and camp and afterschool training. There's a beautiful pool for the summer, pickleball for all ages. But the building isn't what makes it so special: The Y's focuses on welcoming everyone, regardless of race, religion or personal beliefs, and providing financial assistance for those who aren't able to afford it, due to temporary set-backs or more permanent challenges. Personally, I feel well-supported here -- not just another member making the cash register ring for some corporate fitness chain. Being part of the national Y system, the staff get great training and the systems like the mobile app are top notch.
