“A great place to stroll after lunch or dinner! There are new art installations and great views. Of course many great photo ops as well. Because it's right next to the river you want to layer up, because it can get cold and windy. Summer nights are prefect on the High Line.”
“I stumbled upon this cute place while exploring the city. I had never heard of a zine before but was in awe when I walked in. It’s easy to forget about time and get lost in all the zines and books. The staff is really kind and passionate about the arts. Savannah really took her time to show me what Zines are all about. I was really inspired by her. I can’t wait to come back in the fall when I’m in the city.”

“It is a rare opportunity when you get to be amongst several animals, in this instance cats, as they go about their day. The cats meander around, looking for engaging humans to hang with, in between their seemingly perpetual nap times. I saw younger cats annoying other cats just for the heck of it and also many cats loving to play and be petted. The environment is well supervised inside a former bar and restaurant. The superb staff offers insights into each cat such as their energy level, their temperament, their age, and what sort of previous stimulation they’ve had in the day. All the cats may be adopted after a thorough vetting application and personal interview. The Cat Cafe commits itself to finding the correct fit between each cat and their human. The modest $15 charged for a 30 minute visit is well worth your time to get your “cat fix” and you may just develop a lifelong relationship with a fellow feline.”

Lockers, water fountain, changing rooms, and bathroom all kept clean by hardworking cleaning staff. The employees I’ve interacted with are all helpful and friendly. Be aware there are no showers, but I always bring disposable XL “shower” wipes.”

209 W 38th St #2, New York“The Garment District Alliance decided to replace the old dark Button and Needle installed in 1996 with a shiny bright yellow button one with a chrome needle. Even at night with the new lighting, you can see it from a few blocks away.they also removed the Info Booth that was under it, it was out of use due to visitors using smartphones for information about the garment district and the businesses in the area. The button is 15 feet wide and the needle 32 feet long, the sculpture is brought to you by The Garment District Alliance with support from many others, the sculpture itself could be a collaboration between the architect and art installation firms and no one artist was mention on the opening day ceremonies or the official web site.”
“Such a great gem for fabric shopping! And there’s so much variety. I made an appointment online to shop before coming. Make sure to read their directions on how to get there before going. They sell fabric by the yard, scrap fabric for $5/pound, salvageable clothing for $5/pound, and lots of notions. By the yard fabric is sorted by type. Scrap fabric is sorted by color. There’s lots of bins with buttons and elastic. I got loads of elastic for $1/yard.Scraps ranged in sizes, most were about a yard (not full width) from what I could see, but I found some that were 2-3 yards as well. Lots of leather/fur pieces too! The clothing is all damaged but can be mended or repurposed. Some have markings. I picked up some madewell dresses/rompers to repurpose into shorts and a J crew dress to use for quilting. This is a must go if you’re into upcycling or making your own clothes! Once I sew through my stash, I’m coming back to volunteer and get some nice knit fabrics I spied ?”

294 Ferry St, Newark“What an incredible experience with Mantena employees. Ju helped me and advised me what I should do to be able to take my mother's ashes to Brazil. With it I got a password for the Itinerary Consulate and everything went well. When I was there, I noticed people passing by and collecting food from boxes at the entrance of the agency. I was moved by this. Guys, we have to be more humble to help so many who are in need. Congratulations Mantena, Solange and your entire wonderful team. ❤️❤️❤️”

8:30AM - 4:30PM
520 W 49th St, New York“We got displaced due to a fire. We were scared, confused and tired. We really appreciate the good people that took or information when we got displaced due to a fire. The gentleman even asked me the name of my cats while we were waiting for the firefighters to put out the fire. I was so worried about if they would be able to stop the fire before it made it to our apartment. They were even able to find us a hotel that was pet friendly. They followed up with us when we needed an extension from the city at the hotel. Thank you to Christan for all of her kindness and patience. People were angry and just as stressed as we were. Christian explained things to us and we understood what The Red Cross does. She called to follow up with us. We appreciate her so, so, so much and are thankful for sitting with her that day. We appreciate The Red Cross for being so caring and empathy.”
“I am fairly early in the process, but so far have had a really smooth experience. My intake counselor has been extremely informative and helpful. After our first meeting, I truly felt the potential of being able to purchase a home in the future! I am looking forward to continuing this process towards homeownership with NACA”
