The Barnegat Light Museum & Edith Gwinn Gardens is a charming little museum and a great place to visit. It is a treasure trove of historical awesomeness about the local area, with a focus on the history of Barnegat Light, the lighthouse, the light ship, and the old schoolhouse. The displays are very informative and cool, featuring old school artifacts. Knowledgeable and super nice volunteers and docents are very helpful. The lovely Edith Gwinn garden in back has a small koi pond and a nature trail, which is a great place for pictures. There is no entrance charge but donations are welcome, and street parking is available. It is a total joy and a nice find worth the visit for guests and residents alike.

I have visited the island my whole life and I regret not coming here sooner! What a treasure trove of historical awesomeness that goes way beyond just the light house itself. Guests and residents alike must come and experience the rich history this museum has collected.
