I am not one to publicly talk bad about a business but I don't want this to happen to anyone else's pets! I have been going to allendale vet since I got my dog 7 years ago. I have not had any previous issues with them but did notice turn over of some of the good vets throughout the years. I brought my dog in for a dental cleaning and to remove a small lump on his back and his paw. The vet never came and spoke with me before the procedure and they had a vet tech take down the information about what they were operating on. I clearly told them where the lumps were and the vet tech was supposed to communicate this to the vet operating on him. This unfortunately did not happen. They cut into my dog's chest without my consent and now he has a large incision on his chest and they never removed the lump on his back. When I asked about it when I picked him up it was vet techs saying they didn't know why the back lump wasn't removed and the vet never came out to speak with me. They were trying to hide their error. My husband and I went into the office the day after it happened to figure out what went wrong and how this could happen and they had no explanation and said they'll retrain their staff. The vet said it was her mistake and she should have confirmed the lump locations. The vet was completely negligent. I'm very disappointed with allendale vet and how they could just cut into a dog without knowing where they should be cutting and their non existent communication. I also asked to be reimbursed since I do not believe I should have to pay for the surgery they butchered and they will only give me $1k of the $5k I paid. I would never recommend them to anyone in the future. My poor dog should not have gone through that and had to be on a lot of pain medication for the unnecessary operation.

They prey upon your vulnerability and then gouge you with the bill!! I needed to put my 16 1/2 year old dog down. He took a turn for the worse the night before. I am a senior citizen on a fixed income. I called Allendale for an appointment and a price for euthanasia. I made an 11:00 am appointment at 8:15 that morning with the understanding if I couldn't afford the bill I would cancel my appointment. They said they would email me the price quote. After several calls to let them know I had not received the email it was time for the heart wrenching 11:00 am appointment. While I was in the waiting room with my poor dog in my arms I asked the price AGAIN and was finally told it would be $450 without creamation! I called several vets that morning that quoted me prices from $285-$300. Unfortunately they didn't have any appointments that same day. After an emotional discussion with the office manager my bill was $400, still $100 more than other vets. My advice, RUN don't walk from Allendale Veterinary Hospital!!!! Correction, I just reviewed the email with my receipt, and I was charged $103.54 for a cremation bundle. Funny how that email was sent immediately!

Brought our new kitten here for a wellness visit and concern for his eye. They got us in a week sooner than other hospitals. The doctor handled my kitten with so much love and care. She answered all our questions and went above and beyond to even contact a ophthalmologist regarding our kitties eye! Thanks for becoming Gunners new vet!

This is a place that should be amazing... but it's not. I was charged, overcharged, gouged for a simple check up with my puppy. He apparently has a common parasite. $500 in two days? The pre-charged me for his next appointment. Note they also charge you per pill- flea and tick $41.32 I am allowed one pill per month? Crazy, This is probably illegal mostly just gross.

The way they approached my 120 pound dog that was new to them, said EVERYTHING to me. My previous vet always approaches my dog quickly and hastily (to check his ears etc) and created such fear in my dog. They always try to muzzle him just because of his size and spook him - any time he had an ear issue they'd just prescribe a random medication to see if it worked because they didn't want to take the time to check his ears. After 4 years, they NEVER gained his trust. The tech and vet at Allendale sat on the floor with my dog, pet him, and took their time. They answered EVERY single one of my questions and didn't rush out the door like other vets do. My dog sat through the entire exam, let them check his ears etc without becoming stressed. They did not force a single test, medication, or procedure on me but instead, let me know my options and priced everything out. I ended up opting for a couple of tests over things I was concerned about that my previous vet never offered and to be quite frank, really brushed off. They took my dog (who is reactive to other dogs) into the back and I was concerned. I learned they are a fear free facility - they take their time and don't wrestle and rush your dog to get stuff done. My dog was out in 3 minutes or less, no bandages, no struggle. There were no surprise fees or costs and they followed up the following day to see how he was feeling. Like every pet owner, I want the absolute best for my dog. I want him to live a long happy healthy life and I finally feel like a vet took me seriously and was there to HELP. Go here.

We have a very fearful Great Pyrenees rescue mix. We have been unable to get her to a vet for over a year. They prescribed meds to calm her down before she went to vet. They told us in advance if they would not be able to examine her they would have to sedate her. They had to sedate her and did a complete exam and necessary vaccines. We had to return yesterday for her last vaccine. Our dog, Grace wanted no part of it. With much patience and cooperation of her staff, they were able to give Grace her vaccine without sedation. The doctor was very kind and we did not feel rushed. We were very happy with Allendale Veterinary Hospital.

We have been going to Allendale Veterinary hospital for several years with a few animals. Our rescue dog Tucker, a mixed breed labrador and weimaraner, 4 years old recently was diagnosed with a neurological disorder that made him behave in an aggressive manner. His condition continued to deteriorate and we had several close calls with family members. We exhausted all of our options and eventually made the decision to euthanize him. The entire staff at Allendale hospital did an outstanding job throughout our ordeal. We put Tucker down this past Sunday and the staff again supported us and made this horrible experience easier to deal with. I want to thank them for their compassion, professionalism and caring during this process. Our hearts are broken but we know we made the right decision because of the doctors at Allendale Veterinary hospital

We used Allendale Vet for almost 10 years and after they sold (few years ago) things went completely downhill. New vet every time we go there - complete disaster with booking appointments, getting straight answers or getting them to approve medications through PetMeds. After having numerous issues such as booking appointments for bloodwork without considering the amount of hours needed before the blood draw, never contacting us when medication was ready for pickup (or not filling it at all), and then recently booking us for a semi emergency appointment that they had no record of when we showed up, we have decided to move on and not waste our time anymore. Very disappointed in their lack of effort to make things right with our family who have given them countless amounts of business over the past decade. Do not start to use them, you will be disappointed. Management needs to do a lot of work. There are so many great vets in the area that deserve your business more.

Stay far, far away from this place. Misdiagnosed my dog for literal months. Wasn't until my dogs condition got so so bad that I had to get to googling and figure out exactly what was wrong with my pup myself. Needless to say I took my dog to a different doctor at a totally different clinic and I was right. Countless visits for the same issue only to be misdiagnosed, hundreds and hundreds of dollars later, months of wasted time, and not to mention they put my dog on daily (expensive!!) pills that she DID NOT need to be on. The worst part of the story is that my dogs skin disease now spread to me, and being that Im now pregnant and have to now treat myself with all of these crazy medications that could potentially pose threat to my baby. The doctor (not going to name names, i'm not that mean) could have caught this wayyyyyyy before my pregnancy. Couldn't be any more dissapointed. Once a loyal customer/patient and will not be returning, simply from mistrust at this point.

I’ve been bringing my dogs here for years and have always been happy with their service and the kind staff. I wasn’t too sure about the “ wait outside” protocol that we have to follow now with Covid but I shouldn’t have worried. The vet called me during my dog’s exam and again the next day. I felt I was very much kept in the loop.

I have only been using them during the pandemic, 2020, but I have found the staff are so pleasant! Also, Dr Yun really takes the time to explain things, and is very patient and reassuring.

I just wanted to thank your staff for how kind you were to me and my cat Simba. Everyone from the lovely receptionist who made my appointment, took a new patient and made sure you could see him. To the sweet vet tech who was so kind, explained everything to me and said how sweet my cat was. And most of all Dr Beveran (I am sorry if I spelled the name wrong). I have owned pets for my entire life and I have never met a nicer vet. Allendale came very highly recommended. I was re

Excellent staff and unparalleled care from the kindest professionals. I’m fortunate to have them close to home, but I’d travel miles for this level of service.

The staff is great and always going above and beyond to help you with your pets. Although retired, Dr Susan Welsch philosophy and legacy lives on and she occasionally come back to assist the practice.
