Simply the best small engine / lawnmower repair shop in Hunterdon County. Derek is truly an "expert" technician. I've tried other shops over the years but none beat Scotty's for service & value. My expectations were exceeded every time. Highly recommended.

Well, let me just tell you I was totally ripped off by these people. I brought my push mower there to be serviced. I knew it was spitting out black oil. The man said it would be done in 1 1/2 weeks. I gave them 2 1/2 weeks When I went there to see if it was ready which it was not. He said he would call me in the next day or two which he never did. Three weeks later, I called there, left a message asking if my mower was done and I never received a reply. I called the next day and a woman answered. I asked her if my mower is ready and a few minutes later she says it is not so I tell her don’t bother doing anything to it, I will pick it up tomorrow. She calls me 45 minutes later and says they just looked at it, and it is spitting Oil, we have mowers here for sale if you are interested. I said no, I am not. I will pick up my mower tomorrow. I go there to pick up the mower, which is basically taken apart, a bunch of parts are in a box. He proceeds to hand me a bill. I say are you serious you’re really gonna charge me for doing nothing. He says we took it apart to see what was wrong. I did not have the money at the time so I left super pissed off. At that moment, the woman I talked to the night before was coming in, and I confronted her. Why did you have anybody take apart my mower when I told you I was picking it up today. She says that her son took it apart a few weeks ago. If that’s the case, why didn’t you call me a few weeks ago? I said you were totally lying through your teeth.
Needless to say, I am not picking up my mower. I am so livid. It goes to show how people will take advantage of a woman that doesn’t really know anything about machinery
Take my advice stay clear away from this place

These guys are great! My son's dirt bike and ATV needed some work and Scotty's fixed the problems I brought them in for and tuned up every other little thing that was neglected for a while. You might have to wait a bit because they're very busy but that's because they do a great job at a reasonable rate. It's worth it if you want your equipment fixed right. I'll definitely be bringing equipment here in the future instead of wasting time screwing around with it myself.

You never realize what type of a P.O.S. a person or persons are until you actually work for them and see how they conduct business by blatantly ripping loyal customers off and performing work that does not need to be donewhile overcharging customers for the simplest of things or lying to customers altogether because they don't want to or can not do the work. the simplest of jobs can take up to 3 weeks to get even the slightest bit accomplished . Then when all is said and done your bill is twice as much as you expected to spend BECAUSE THEY BROKE PARTS WHILE TRYING TO FIX YOUR MACHINE BUT BLAMED YOU AND BUILD YOU FOR IT. with no phone calls to update customers or ask permission to do extra work on their machines because they are cowards and like to hide behind their answering machine & most times it takes 10 times the amount of work due th the fact that whoever worked on your machine in the first place did not know what they were doing to begin with and did work that did not need to be done while the main work is subpar at best to the point that the customer returns their machines numerous times to be corrected because it wasn't done correctly the first time !!!? one of the biggest mistakes I've made in my career to date was fully taken advantage of after being begged not to quit while they were at a funeral in Texas only to be sent on vacation soon afterwards to come back Monday morning to realize I did not have a job because they did not have the balls to tell me up front or give a REASON as to why . so they decided not to answer my phone calls or text messages because they are cowards...... Do yourself a favor and find better mechanics who will meet your needs and expectations not extort them one of their little tricks is to break stuff handling customers equipment and then charge the customer but NOT CALL as if it was already broken CUSTOMER BEWARE CUSTOMER BEWARE CUSTOMER BEWARE I CANNOT GET ANY CLEARER THAN THAT AND IF YOU STILL INSIST ON USING THEIR SERVICE AND GET ROBBED YOU CAN'T SAY YOU WEREN'T WARNED ! GOOD RIDDANCE TO BAD RUBBISH !

I had an issue with my lawn tractor - the engine ran fine but there was something wrong with the drive train, and it wouldn't move. I took it to Scott's to be repaired. I told them that this was my only issue, that the belt was new. Scotty asked if I wanted general spring time service - filters, blade sharpened, etc., and I said no, just get it moving. Further, I said to call before they spent over $200.00.They called 5 days later and said the job had been done. When I got there, the bill was $357: they had done all of the things I had said not to do (the springtime service), as well as adding some oil and fixing the drive train. The issue with the drive train was that the belt had come off and needed to be put back. So, $87 for parts I didn't want, and $270 in labor where the only labor I contracted for would easily have been done within one hour @$90/hr, and maybe 3 quarts of oil. I've been taken for over $257, and he refused to adjust the bill.

I had a gas weed eater which had sat for over 17 years. Brought it up from Ohio, got oil, got gas. Darn thing wouldn't run, would start tho. Found Scotty's literally 3 houses down. Guy came right out, looked at it, said it's dead man, called Scotty, who agreed, gave us suggestion on getting an echo. Explained why it's dead, he was down home engaging, helpful, friendly. He actually took the weed eater, drained it, then put it in dumpster. He was honest, educational. I'll be back if needed, I found him wonderful.

Scottys is simply a great place to take your snowblower - and presumably any small engine.Scotty himself, Patty, Brent and the rest of the family are all very knowledgeable and just decent regular down to earth good peopleI took in my craftsman snowblower after a small snowstorm - they cleaned the carburetor, greased the gearbox, and did all needed repairs fast and well. It’s not free but you’ll be relieved that they truly know what they’re doing.Don’t hesitate to take your engine there.Think ahead - go before your engine completely breaks down. Thanks Scotty - great work!

This past Saturday was my third experience with Scotty and all have been positive.I came in with my Stihl lead blower that was not producing full power. Scotty took me in the back and right then and there he cleaned the air filter, adjusted the Hi carb screw and i was back in business, all for a very reasonable fee. Where else are you going to get that kind of service? His customer service is old school which is a breath of fresh compared to a lot of places these days. Well done!

This past Saturday I stopped by Scotty's to get my Stihl leaf blower checked out--was not producing max power.Scotty took me in the back right then and got to diagnosing. Dirty air filter....running rich...a quick hi screw adjustment on the carb and I was set to go. All within 15 min and at a very reasonable price. He's a man of the old school of customer service and I really respect that. Well done!
