Dr Braswell and staff were so caring during a painful time. My 3yo dog and i came in overnight from what they think was a rare vaccine-mediated meningitis case. They really helped with being calm and helping me navigate the treatments my dog needed while also being aware of the finances available and making it work. Dr Braswell is so smart and fantastic at what she does that she used her best judgment to treat my dog, which is what saved his life. ? so thankful this place is nearby and available for emergencies

This hospital is absolutely incredible. I brought my Guinea Pig in today, who was wheezing and coughing. He had been seen by another Vet before who didn’t know the issue. Today, he couldn’t breathe so I rushed him in. The staff were so kind and compassionate and soon my Guinea Pig was seen by Dr. Lauren Steigerwalt. She was incredibly thorough and identified that he had an Upper Respiratory Infection as well as other conditions. Im so grateful, and just in shock at how kind and knowledgeable this team was from the front desk staff, to the wonderful tech, to the Vet herself. Absolutely recommend if you want the best of the best. Thanks!

We had a horrible emergency with our pet guinea pig and drove over 56 minutes to bring him here. And let me tell you, it was worth the drive. Every single person that works there is kind and was transparent with us about what was going on with our pet.
Dr. Franson was our vet and he is absolutely amazing. I can’t stress it enough how friendly and welcoming he is. He talked through everything with us, stayed late to perform surgery, and even showed us his own guinea pigs he has at home <3
It’s so hard finding an exotic vet nowadays and Dr. Franson is everything we could’ve hoped for!

One star rating more like zero star rating this is the WORST emergency vet hospital ever!! VERY disrespectful and heartless I would NEVER trust them again and wish everyday I drove an extra 15 mins to a different hospital. Being in the veterinary field myself I would be embarrassed working for this hospital and the way they treat clients. Do you and your furbabies a favor and find a different hospital that will put you and your babies first!
You guys are a joke the way you handle your reviews so many 1 stars recently I think that says a lot about your business

My cat was brought in with a swollen tongue and has been there for 2 days. The type of care she has been receiving is phenomenal. I really truly feel like they are taking care of her as if she is their own cat. They were unsure she was going to make it (which is NO fault of theres), but the techs have been so nice and gentle about the whole thing while still being honest, which is appreciate. Highly recommend.

I can’t thank the medical staff enough for taking care of my pup P’Chou. Hannah, Cristina and the Dr. Lisa ( sort forgot last name) professionalism, genuine support care and concern was over the top amazing. I could not be more grateful. Because of you my pup is doing so much better, and because of you I felt comforted and confidence she was in the best hands. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! P’Chou’s too! ❤️❤️

Amazing people! I am so thankful for the support staff and Dr. Franson! My guinea pig Reese's Peanut Butter was having intestinal issues, and being an senior guinea pig I was extremely worried. My primary vet referred me to Rockingham Emergency Vet Hospital and I am so thankful I brought him! Prices were very reasonable and communicated to me from the start. Dr. Franson was amazing and read all of Reese's primary care notes even before he saw Reese's, it was amazing! I cannot thank Rockingham Emergency Veterinary Hospital enough and rest assured you have a client for life!

Overall the actual medical procedures done were good. However, the issues for me were the waiting time. I brought in my pet bunny who was having eye issues. As all vets should know, bunnies get nervous with loud noises, unfamiliar places, and other animals (especially cats & dogs bc bunnies are prey animals). I waited over an hour to even speak to the doctor after the 10min triage/evaluation. No one ever came out to tell me anything and I had to ask the receptionist what was going on. She replied rudely saying that some animals need more emergent care and brought up “if an animal was hit by a car they would need to be seen first”. I obviously know that and was not pressing anyone regarding anything. All I wanted was to be informed, and not to be talked to like I’m ignorant or stupid. This is not my first time at an emergency vet, I understand how it works. the receptionist should have suggested I wait in the car and they could call me when the doctor was ready to see my bunny. In addition, there was a free remaking cat that supposedly lives at the vet. This cat tried to go towards my bunnies carrier, and the receptionist didn’t do anything and just laughed about it. She finally realized that i was not having it and made the cat leave. It’s not funny to have a cat roaming around and taunting the sick animals that are in the emergency room. All owners are required to have their pets in carriers or on a leash, why is there a cat just free roaming in the waiting area? It does not make sense.
Finally after waiting to get the cost of the treatment told to me, I had to ask to wait in the car and for them to call me when the doctor could see me. They said they could do that, but that should have been something they offered as I was noticeably was unhappy with how there was a free roaming cat and how loud everything was (and obviously I had a scared bunny).
As a vet hospital you should understand the needs of all pets that are seen there. If there’s an animal like a bunny that obviously wouldn’t do well in a loud waiting room with cats and dogs barking, then maybe you should suggest they wait in the car, or suggest that your pet could be kept in the back to avoid any issues. Also having a free roaming cat in the waiting room is ridiculous and honestly pretty unprofessional.
Medical care was fine.

We were recommended to bring our cat here by a family member, was told they were the best in the area! They were 100% correct! The care, compassion, honesty, thoughtfulness, and love for the animals is second to none here! From Kenzie at the front desk, Nicole, and Dr Pike all went above and beyond to care for the most important member of our house?! I cant thank them for everything they did! They were upfront about the cost, and didnt do anything without discussing it with us first! Thank you for making our late night that much less stressful. Whenever we need an emergency vet- they will have my business!!! Our cat is already feeling better only a few days later!

I would never recommend this location to take your animal in an emergency, We had taken our 1 year old cat here who had stop breathing on our way to the vet but my partner was able to get her to start breathing with CPR when we had got there we rushed her in side and had signed a paper saying to have them continue CPR they hounded us for money to even continue any veterinary care. When taken back into a room they never explained what they had done or what they could have done the vet just came in and said “yeah this is gonna be a 20,000 dollar cat and we didn’t do CPR, we didn’t give Medication, only thing keeping her alive and a ventilator.” while all this is happening we are trying to get these people to allow one of us to leave to go get the amount they needed to save our cat but they wouldn’t allow us to leave. They had made the decision for us to have to put our poor cat down. ONLY GETS BETTER- We asked to see our cat before they took her off the ventilator
so we could be the last people she seen and wasn’t alone when dying the vet took her off the machine and she has died before they took her in the room with us she was stiff and her eyes were glassed over, my partner is in the industry and she said our cat had died a while ago it wasn’t just moments ago. To top it off they charged us for CPR and Medication they didn’t even use. Finally the last thing that blew my mind was when picking up our cats ashes i asked for a number to speak to someone higher up in chain the lady at the front desk refused to give me any information and said you can leave the message with me and i’ll pass it up. i said no i just would like a number to speak with someone about my experience and she fought be on it. This is honestly the worst experience of a life time and i would highly recommend seeking a different hospital even if it’s an extra 20 mins out of the way.
