Of course the views are legendary, and there is still some charm available if you look for it. Wonderful landscapes, surrounded by the white mountains including the superlatives of surrounding Mount Washington range. Pictures attached show this.
Unfortunately, when we went to our room after check-in, there was a massive pile of dishes outside our room door from the prev. night. We had to ask to have them removed. Before we checked in we asked if there was a place to lock our bikes for the day until the room was ready, and there was not a safe, indoor place available "until the next day". The room smelled a bit musty from the carpets (that appeared dirty throughout the building) unlike our visit a few years ago. For dinner, we ordered Salmon and one drink, (total) and the bill was $102 with tip - absorbent considering the salmon was farm-raised (as you could see by the color) and a bit overcooked. There were barely any vegetables with it and it left us still hungry after the meal (even though we are both thin individuals). The waiter "disappeared" for times and left us searching for him. If it wasn't for the view we may never return, but we will check back in a few years (maybe?). We also noticed a considerably higher markup on all items from just a few years ago, much higher than inflation would induce. Warning: Forget the bar, bring your own bottle of wine or spirits the prices are just plain crazy (see Picture for the - ridiculous - in room pricing which we did not partake).
Unfortunately, the "charm" left us hungering for the wonders to explore just a few years ago.
One thing that was clear and evident was the greedy direction they are following, over the service and fairness of the past that drew us to the resort.

We were very impressed with every aspect of our visit. The staff was great as we're the grounds and our room. We didn't want to leave and will definitely be back.
Rooms: Our room was spotless. We found the beds very comfortable.

So here is the good -
Beautiful location and view. Nice hotel with charm. The rooms are good size , clean and great views. The waitstaff and housekeepers are very friendly and nice.
So here is the not good -
The front desk staff are rude and not helpful . The website claims “ el fresco dining “ That is a lie. The beautiful outside patio for dining outside is closed. I don’t know why but it is. So is the outside dining area down by the pool. So you can get a drink at the bar and sit outside on the porch. That’s it. They add . 5 percent to every credit card charge at the bar or restaurant. The bar down at the pool was not open - it is a long walk back to the lobby to get a drink at the bar. Probably spill most of it by the time you get back down to the pool. Here is the main problem , apparently it is the closest hotel to Santa’s village. There is a ton of young kids at this hotel at all times in all locations - including the lounge area. The restaurant sounded like a cafeteria at an elementary school at lunch time.

We didn't stay we basically stopped off for lunch. It's been pretty obvious in the year and a half it's been since we've been there they've done a lot of work the flooring is all new they've got all new furniture definitely the new owners are making an effort to do a little bit of restoration.
Rooms: Remember the rooms have been combined to make larger rooms and suites. Overall they've been very well refurbished over the years. Most recently they've been putting a lot of new furniture and bedding in a lot of the rooms they've done a lot of replacement of the siding and some of the rot that was under the siding. It's good to see money being spent refurbishing. Some places basically don't do anything until at that point it becomes so bad people stop coming.

Service would be a zero if Google allowed. Literally some of the worst service experienced in any hotel ever. From the front desk to the restaurant to the bar. It’s unfathomable this place stays in business

Stayed at the Inn for 3 nights August 24-26th. Loved the place very beautiful location and spectacular views. Utilized the Pools both indoor and outdoor. Disappointed that the hot tub was out of service. Also toured the farm which felt was very nice. Did Axe throwing , pickleball, soccer, and utilized the fitness room which was full of very nice equipment. Our room was very nice again spacious w great view. Bed was very comfortable plenty of pillows. Bathroom was spacious with plenty of hot water. My only complaint is restaurant foor options needs to be greatly expanded. Breakfast buffet needs expanded. Food was very good yes pricey however understand inflation that restaurants are dealing with. The biggest downside was staffing at the bar. Not enough the very few working there handling food and drinks were fantastic pleasant but ridiculously understaffed. The inn overall is very clean throughout beautiful grounds fantastic views beautiful lobby. A plus is that the rooms are cleaned daily and beds made. Many places even big upscale hotels only every 3 days. I would definitely return.

Ate in the Tavern. Weird setup. Tables in bar area and out into lobby. Many families with children told they had to order takeout and eat in the lobby. Guests with children all over the lobby with takeout containers everywhere.

Outstandingly horrid waitstaff and staff in general. This is no luxury hotel. The service at the bar is the worst I have ever received due to the abnormally slow bartender and rudeness of her. We tipped well over 30% hoping for her attitude to change and it did not. After spending over $1k on the room for only three nights you would assume we would be treated so (this is not including the $60 tip on the bar service). When we went to the front desk to ask about the little gift shop being open or closed, which it was closed, we then asked about vending machines. None. Thank you to the bartender for ignoring us for hours and making it so we cannot eat on our “luxury” vacation as the kitchen closed at 9. Disgusting. A hornets nest is directly outside of our window which now seems coincidental and makes it so we cannot open our windows since there’s no mesh screen. As does the fact that the lights in our room are flickering. The lights directly outside our door in the hall are too. Seems too coincidental. Honestly would much prefer to be at a less expensive simply because of this experience and how little the “amenities” really are. Do not book a room here or give them money. I will be going to complain directly in the morning. This is a horrible experience with horrible staff and I pray no one has to endure these atrocities I have suffered. Side note: wipe away any construction signs on the granite counters because seeing the room number underneath the bathroom granite is cheap and truly shows the little care you have for your hotel.
Rooms: Not good.

The Mountain View Grand Resort & Spa is close to Whitefield, which is close to the White Mountain National Forest and Mount Washington.
The welcome from Christopher (baggage handler) and Barb (front desk) could not have been more warm. I felt at home from the moment I arrived. The room overlooking the mountains was very nice. The whole resort has a vintage chic feel that I have never experienced before. The two restaurants (Harvest Tavern & Wine Cellar 1865) serve hearty and delicious food and the service is extremely courteous (Kevin, Wine Cellar) and friendly.
The staff at the bar (Dobro) were also very good at looking after guests who were travelling alone.
Of course, I took the opportunity to book a massage - the two masseurs, Amy and Scott, were excellent.
Not so good were some special small charges that are not very good explained. Negligible in the overall context of costs. Simply not that nice.
However I hope to return soon.
