Today I showed up for my 7am trailer hitch install appointment and was overwhelmed by the scolding I received. As I sat to wait for the install an older gentleman came over and said " you don't want wiring" Not a hello or a good morning just yelling that from 10 feet away. I explained that I do want wiring with my hitch and he game me a disgusted look and turned around. In a few steps he turned back to me and said "it's going to be 4 hours and $600 then" completely taken back from the man's anger I told him I don't have 4 hours and he responded by turning his back without saying a word and walking away. Who would EVER want such a disgruntled man working on your car- not to mention the wiring!!

I had a truck rental from Hanover MA to Dover NH on 9/11/21. About a month later, at 1030 on a Friday night received a fraud alert that you were trying to put a charge of $3.25 on my credit card. My credit card company automatically shuts that card off at any possibility of fraud. This was a huge inconvenience for me. I called and waited 1.5 hours for Marilyn at uhaul to learn that it was for a toll and I was told to email
[email protected]. First of all, I paid that toll and for the 2 cars behind me on that trip....I was shocked that you did not notify me first before putting through an unathorized charge. (Regardless of what your contract says, credit card companies have their own policies) I emailed tickets@uhaul on October 9, called and spoke to someone on October 16 and he emailed them. I called and spoke to the first woman (Marilyn, she remembered me) on October 23 and she emailed them. Yesterday, I waited 45 min for a callback to talk to someone who disconnected ume mid-sentence and didn't have the courtesy to call me back. I called again, waited another hour for a call back and explained I needed a supervisor, and waited another 40 more minutes for no one to answer my call. My time is very valuable, and if I tallied all of the wait times that uhaul put me through, at my current rate of $38 an hour. You owe me 7 hours of my time is $266 to date. I joked with Marilyn that I'll be submitting you an invoice for my time. This is for a $3.25 that I paid, and being so grossly mistreated is not appropriate for business in this day and age. I had always been a uhaul promoter, left a fantastic review on your site, and I am deeply regretting that now.

What a fantastic place! This is my first review ever, just felt like I had to comment on how much help the staff was. Cyrus was the bomb diggity! They helped me with all my confusion and didn't make me feel dumb. Thank you so much! :)

I scheduled a hitch install for my new Jeep. Jack greeted me as soon as I walked in. We had a brief conversation because I wasn't sure what all I needed for the install. After a brief conversation Jack took my Jeep back to do the install. He came out about a few minutes later to inform me that the wiring adapter for the system was not at the bumper like I thought; I just watched a brief video and thought the necessary wires were there...they weren't. He walked me back into the garage and showed me exactly what we were talking about. He gave me some recommendations to get the answers to what I needed. I cannot tell you how much I appreciated his patience and honesty. I didn't get the install done but, once I get the answers I need from Jeep, I will definitely be back to have the hitch installed here. Thank you very much Jack and the team!

Tried 3 times to have a trailer hitch installed for a bike rack. Different excuse every time on why my appointment couldn't be kept (too busy) and told it would take 90 mins and then told I would have to leave the vehicle for the day. Will never spend another dollar with this business.

Rip off artists. Not one professional in the company. Lied to, ripped off, paid ahead of time and charged late fees. Moving out on August 4th. They're upping my prices and making me pay for the full month. My locks WILL REMAIN ON MY UNITS UNTIL I HAVE USED UP MY TIME THERE!! Rude, obnoxious, hateful shrews. Do not use these people unless you love paying extra for nothing. Worst U-HAUL place I've ever had the displeasure of using.

Went here to fill two propane grill tanks. Rang the bell where you get the gas as-the sign noted, waited 5 minutes no one came out. Went inside and asked for help was told we will get there when we can! Waited for 30 minutes & no one came out!!!! Let went to Eldridge in York where they know what customer service means. U-Haul you should take lessons from them!

Awful. Unfriendly staff. Slow as molasses. Normally I let these things go, but since the owner Joshua was so remarkably rude, I have to warn you to stay away from this place. Rent ANYWHERE ELSE.The bill was $170. I handed over $200 cash. He wouldn't take it. He just sat there speechless, clicking at his computer screen with a grumpy frown. Ended up walking out leaving cash on the table because he took so long. He didn't even offer to make change. He indignantly said "Ok..." No "Thank you." Nothing.Last time I rented here, they read the odometer incorrectly and almost overcharged me a thousand dollars for a trip down the street. I thought it was a fluke, but now I know these people are completely worthless morons. Stay away!

My sister and I recently had to clean out the family storage space after 20 years. One of the locks had rusted on which they removed (not an easy task!) and the staff was exceptional at helping us in every way. Jack in particular was a wonderfully helpful and funny to boot! We were impressed with the condition of our property - after 20 years, all we found was a thin layer of dust! They also rented us a van at a very reasonable rate to move many of the boxes. Overall, we couldn't have been more impressed - we highly recommend Portsmouth U-Haul!

Terrible customer service. At this location you are just another number to them. Management was also snippy. Overall, this location needs work.

Great customer service. I bought an adapter for my hitch from them. Something was wrong and it wasn't working. I called set up an appointment and they fixed it no problem. They back up their product.

It's been a real roller coaster with these folks. I found out they did significant damage to my car. The manager was very defensive and has not followed up on compensation. I lost two half days of work to get it repaired. If you must use Uhaul, it's worth making a trip to the Dover location.

We have reserved the truck and the trailer ahead and we have asked to give us better equipment due to long distance (2000 miles). When we came in to the U-Haul in Portsmouth, the lady (Jessica Battistelli) at front desk asked us if we would like to purchase an insurance ($108) that we refused to do. Then she charged from my credit card $2,494.52 and figured out that she did something wrong and returned money to my credit card and I had to slide my card again. We got horrible track: it was very slow (we couldn't even get to 50 miles per hour (my car is not heavy and the track was almost empty), it was terrible on gas, the car didn't had nor USB, nor CD port and most of the times the radio didn't work too). At the end of the trip, we found out that the wheel lock that was holding my expensive car was off the wheel. Pretty much, we were lucky that we didn't have an accident. When I checked the credit card transactions, I have noticed that U-Haul charged me $108 that I did not sign and returned money (when Jessica Battistelli did a mistake and supposed to return the same amount of money) for $284 less. The total of sum that U-Haul stole from me is $392 and it was not counted my boyfriend's missing day of work, huge amount of money for gas (everywhere on commercial, you can see that "it's good on gas") and horrible equipment and customer service that did not solved the problem. After this bad experience, we have called the departure U-Haul location to ask them to correct the issue with the unauthorized charge and the manager, Jason Becksted, just refused to do it saying that we signed the contract for that which is not so, we have the documentation to prove it. There is no signature on the paper he sent us and there is the signature on the correct contract where the unauthorized charge is not present. He would refuse to take any actions to correct the issue and would repeat the same phrases over and over again like a broken answering machine. After a few months dealing with poor customer service, I finally got my money back that U-Haul stole from me with help of Master Card and my bank.
