Kara and her staff are remarkable. I have had them train my "Covid" puppy Willow, she has blossomed under her tutelage and I am confident I can handle her in most situations. To highly recommend them and have done so to many fellow dog owners.

I worked for Kara’s pet care my junior year of college and was paid an hourly wage but was not reimbursed for gas mileage ( my pay - gas mileage means I was being paid $4 an hour ). I mentioned this to the manager and I put in my two weeks. they said they would get me more dog walking appointments around the same area so it would cost less in gas. I ended up staying but absolutely nothing changed and I left soon after this. I still feel taken advantage of and know my employees and I were not being paid what we should have.I hope now employees are being reimbursed for their gas and wear and tear on their cars, especially with such high gas prices.

Great services and people! I highly recommended this business. The app is extremely easy to use for booking.

I could not ask for better care for my 3 dogs. The pups had so much fun with the sitters that they didn’t even miss us. I completely recommend Kara’s Pet Care! 100%

I recently moved to Maine and contacted Kara's Petcare on the recommendation of my vet. I was so excited because it seemed like they would be able to offer daycare for my dogs and some auxiliary training if needed. They also said they did transport to the daycare facility and boarding on occasion. It seemed perfect. I should mention that there are Kara's pet care facilities in Portsmouth, Berwick, and Falmouth. First I was asked to set up a meet and greet with one of their associates at my home so she could meet my pets. It took me many tries to get through many unreturned phone calls, but finally we did set up the meet and greet and that went well. Then I was asked to set up an app and an account before we could actually schedule any dog care. So I set up the app and the account. Then I was asked to drive my dogs to their facility to see if the dogs would "be happy there." So I drove my dogs 25 minutes to the facility. When I got to the facility I was told that they were supposed to stay there for a day assessment and then I should come and pick them up. This was not communicated to me earlier, and I had not budgeted an extra hour of driving back-and-forth. Then they would reschedule the assessment and they would come and pick up my dogs for the day-long assessment. All before any dog care could be scheduled. So, still not on the calendar. So to summarize: you need to go through a long process of scheduling a meet and greet, then you need to have the meet and greet, then you need to sign up for the app, then your dogs have to be assessed to see if they will be happy. I'm just thinking that anyone who's busy enough to need dog care is too busy for this multilayered, multi-step, poorly communicated process where phone calls, texts, and emails are returned only about half the time.

In reading some of the reviews posted by a disgruntled employee(s?), I feel compelled to post my experiences with Kara's Pet Care over the past 5 years. Kara and her team pay very close attention to detail and the care they provide has been without a doubt simply exceptional. I have used them for overnight services, personal dog training (1 on 1) with Kara as well as for dog walking/hiking. There have been times, with last minute notice (family emergency or stuck out of town) that they have provided care for our dog and always seem happy to help. The messages and photos that get sent through the Handlr app demonstrate their love of animals and you know that your pet is in wonderful hands. If there are issues accessing the house or finding supplies they do not hesitate to reach out, which I truly appreciate. There is another level of trust that you need to have when you give access to your pets, (who we consider family members) as well as to your home, to someone outside of your family.Just one example of the top notch care we have received over the years happened very recently. One particular day, one of the dog walkers learned of Bella's (our black lab) love of playing frisbee and went out and bought one for her while on their walk/hike. I could not have imagined such a business taking the time and great care to do something like that! When we hired Kara for training, we gained a lot of knowledge and help with some behaviors that our dog was exhibiting. She has a wonderful, happy and calm way about her that makes you and your pet feel at ease. We had questions about how to respond to certain dog behaviors and we found her solutions really helpful.I also, feel compelled to speak about her integrity and goodness. One shining example is that on her own accord and expense, she recently helped rescue a large group of abused dogs in a shelter in the south and brought them all back to be adopted. She personally took care of and found homes for them. This is truly a good person. You may pay a little bit more for the services at Kara's Pet Care but it is a great value. You simply cannot compare the integrity, reliability, responsiveness and professionalism of Kara's and her team! It is the best we have ever encountered. I would without hesitation use them for any of their services. Please feel free to reach out to me with any further questions. Thank you Kara and team for being standouts in your field!

Worked for KPC for under a month because Kara doesn't even pay her staff Maine's minimum wage. I was really horrified with the lack of organization on Kara's behalf considering she works with live animals and charges A LOT for her services. That being said, the Handlr app is good for clients, but I wouldn't recommend KPC to anyone because it is an unethical business. Just use Rover services, they will be cheaper and more reliable.

I also worked for her along with about 5 others that all quit on the spot in 1 week! Never paid on time, 50+ hours a week and putting $100 plus in gas never mind wear and tear on my car and paychecks we’re never more than $250. Over booking is a huge problem and most of the dogs end up sitting in the car for most of their appointments, but yet she still extremely over charges the clients. Then when you bring it up Kara’s spreads that we have drug and drinking problems to everyone. Heads up she’s a scammer big time!!!

I’ve worked with Kara for about 2 years off and on and she has always been absolutely amazing to me!The business is perfect for me considering I’m in college and have classes right in the middle of the day. Kara makes the time and schedules me for before and after my classes. I get paid very well , and get mileage reimbursement which is a bonus !!I have never been more happy to take pride in my work.

Worked 60 hour weeks with signed contract saying $600 full time. Got a $200 pay check with her saying you're full time, but on commission. You don't get paid for traveling 30-45 minutes between visits. Most visits were 20 minute cat care. Then paying for gas$100/week out of that paycheck. She screws everyone. I filed with Maine Board of Labor. She is running business out of Maine but claims to be based in NH. I didn't have time to file federally but now thanks to Covid I will be filing federally.

Your dogs will just sit in the employees car for most of their appointments! Workers are not paid what they are promised and then she bad mouths all the employees saying they missed work, are druggies and alcoholics. I do not advise anyone to use her services due to lack of caring for the dogs and way over pricing.

Some of the workers, like Ross, are quite amazing! There's just a lot of management and ownership issues. The owner is looney.

I cannot say enough positive things about Kara’s Pet Care!! Kara is a remarkable person with both a caring, intuitive nature and a wealth of medical knowledge. We have used her company for years and loved them but it wasn’t until tonight that I realized just how amazing a human she is and how lucky our family is to have her in our lives. I want you to picture this scene: we are getting ready to launch our first child to college. We are a hot mess of emotions and anxiety getting her all packed up. Right in the middle of the chaos our puppy got into something she shouldn’t. Panicked, inconsolable, I was sure she had gotten into something seriously harmful. Who did I call? Who was the first person that popped into my mind? Kara Dello Russo. Not only did she respond to my text in a calm, reassuring manner, she called me thirty seconds later. She spoke with me about what to do(in this case thankfully nothing)and researched further my concerns. This kind of treatment, like family, is priceless. If you are looking for the most loving, knowledgeable and experienced care for your furry family member, look no further than Kara’s Pet Care. Going above and beyond is an everyday occurrence.
