Front desk employees don't take time enough to find simple features and amenities of the place.

I consider the room and service above average for the price I paid. No issues with room service or amenities. My work schedule did not afford me an opportunity to try the onsite restaurant and I am not a drinker so I did not try the bar either.
Rooms: Room was clean, comfortable with mini fridge, microwave and Keurig coffee maker. I was on the third floor and my window was fully operable, which was nice for the cool night air. There was a good selection of pillows and the mattress was in good condition. Decent work area and the TV could be used with a Fire Stick, Roku, etc., with WiFi sufficient to stream shows.
Walkability: The location is close to downtown Portsmouth (close enough to walk if walking is something you enjoy).

This is one of the better experiences I've had at a hotel to date! The room was exceptionally clean and spacious and the staff was helpful and gracious. Everyone made us feel super welcome and the hotel as a whole was welcoming, tidy, and warm.
We decided to eat at the in house restaurant and were excited to find the food was as good as the service. Joe was friendly and attentive. The salmon was perfectly cooked, the broccoli steamed and fresh, the steak salad seasoned well and cooked to perfect temp. Kids meal was huge.
Breakfast was as good as dinner! Huge portions (highly recommend the breakfast skillet which has fresh broccoli, mushrooms, peppers and onions). Staff was courteous and attended to our allergy sensitivities without scoffing (which we find a lot of the times since soy is in everything) and we had a great chat with our server and the other servers on duty.
Overall, was super impressed! The staff even helped us fill our small ice chest upon departure, seeing that our hands were totally full and toddler in tow.
Only feedback is that the poolwater was freezing and I'm not entirely sure how a guest with mobility issues would be able to access it since it's in the basement and then back up a small flight of stairs.
Thanks for making our overnight to the beach comfortable and easy!

Got a room to attend an event being held in the hospital. Rooms were well appointed and clean, but on the small side. Hotel was clean but under construction. Event was great had an amazing time at the emo themed paint night with Mac. Was very convenient to attend the event then have a room. Will definitely do it again.
Rooms: Small but clean and well appointed. Bathroom was clean bed was comfortable.. was a little loud due to traffic.
Nearby activities: Hotel holds events seemed like monthly, so comedy nights and paint nights, but within walking distance of portsmouth downtown
Food & drinks: In hotel restaurant, drinks were strong but expensive, had chicken fingers that were really good also.
Noteworthy details: Manager if hotel was very involved with event, seemed like a nice guy, and was very forthcoming with information about upcoming events. Had a great time!

Stopped for the night while passing through on business. Hotel is currently being renovated but I ended up getting a room that had been newly remodeled. The room had a bright, fresh, appearance. The beds are super comfortable, much better than most of the Holiday inns that I stay at. We ended up eating at the restaurant associated with the hotel. I had a bacon cheeseburger which was phenomenal and they had a nice variety of beer. I would definitely recommend this Hotel if you're looking for a place to stay for the evening.

Large Holiday Inn well located in central Portsmouth. Quite popular with Naval folk and contractors. Very limited parking. Good restaurant and breakfast buffet.
Food & drinks: Good restaurant and bar
Noteworthy details: Parking is very limited

they are unorganized and unprofessional. when I check out, I asked for an email receipt and never got emailed. I tried calling them several times and they don't pick up their phone. I had to contact their central office to finally get a response.
