This business sold a bunch of fake Kline lots many years ago and was being investigated by the FBI. Surprised they are still selling, more surprised people are still buying from them.

The Cobbs Auctioneers business is very professional and honest. They successfully sold a few paintings from my collection, and I would like to hire them again if necessary.

We sold many antique, silver and decorative art pieces in 2016 and used their appraisal service in 2005. They are responsive, professional and easy to work with. Our yield was very close to their estimated value and the cost for their service was reasonable and competitive.

Buyer Beware! I was an on-line bidder in which The Cobbs Auctioneers misrepresented a clock I purchased which I notified them immediately after receiving it in the mail to report that it did not work. They told me that it was a mistake that this info was not included in the description and to return it for a full refund including shipping both ways. I called them a couple days after the tracking showed they had received it and was transferred to a woman who claimed to be an owner. She proceeded to tell me that they would not be refunding any of my shipping and that she was reluctant to even send me any refund. I was shocked not only at how irresponsible this was for a large company representative but at the tone in which she spoke to me. Since the internet age, large doors have opened for well established auction houses like the cobbs to sell to an audience thousands of times larger than they could in the past. For some, this opens a door to cheat where they can list an item that is damaged and not mention anything in their on-line description as bidders who live out of state or country will bid higher than the people on the floor who are aware of such damage.

Fast pace auctions, I have been personal friends with most of the people that have worked here for a while. They run a really nice auction, well put together. Rarely is there not enough room for everyone who comes. Usually you can get a good deal on something but typically need to wait until the end for the items that aren't online. Although some of these items are total junk. They have a 20% markup for all purchases and 20% fee for all sales, so basically seller gets 80% of final sale price and buyer pays 120% of final sale price or (125% with credit card). It's easy to get auction fever here, there are 3-4 couples that will pay whatever they need to to get some stuff and will bid it up to way more than it is worth, know when to bow out.

This is a great place to go if you want to buy interesting things inexpensively. They've sold some very nice rugs and some truly exquisite paintings. All of the staff is first rate and will always greet you with a smile. The auctions are usually quite fun to watch as sometimes the aptly named runners are struggling to keep up and keep things in the proper order. Unfortunately, the auctions have become a bit infrequent, but when they happen I'll be there, paddle in hand.
