“This hotel was where the ambassadors who signed the peace treaty at the end of the Russo-Japanese War stayed in 1905. I would like to express my respect for the fact that such a building of such great historical value is still available for use and accommodation. The hotel staff were very kind to us visitors. They provided us with a collection of photographs and historical documents, which helped me to gain a deeper understanding.”

“After hours of research online, I stumbled across Dockside Guest Quarters, and I knew immediately that I had found the perfect place for my wife and I to celebrate our 25th anniversary. The place is somewhat isolated, the grounds are immaculate, and the view out toward the Atlantic is stunning. We enjoyed the sunrises each morning, and then we would go over to the Main House for a wonderful breakfast! We stayed in Room 110 - a simple stand-alone cottage that was absolutely perfect - with an unobstructed view of the water. It was so relaxing watching the tides go in and out and to watch the boats coming into the harbor and going out to the ocean. We also enjoyed watching the waterfowl flying overhead or skimming the water. It was so relaxing! Did I mention the wonderful breakfast? They also have a restaurant on-site and another casual Tiki-type bar area by the harbor - both were fantastic! The staff throughout the length of stay were extremely friendly and helpful. Overall, I highly recommend Dockside and would return in a heartbeat.”

“We stayed here for a night during our roadtrip honeymoon. Everything was walkable from our hotel, such a central spot. Really beautifully designed rooms! Good breakfast, and friendly staff. I would stay here again!”

“Great Little Inn - Great locationStayed here on the penultimate night of our Spring Break Roadtrip. Wow, what a surprise. We booked two rooms for our party of 5 and were both on the second floor. The Inn was centrally located, easy to check in/out, and parking on premises.Best yet was Location!Rooms: Well designed and appointed rooms, better yet clean and very comfortable. A wide array of “for pay” snacks, drinks make it very convenient.Walkability: Next to everything in Portsmouth. Many shops, restaurants and activities.”

“The Springhill Suites on Exeter Rd is our go to. Quite clean, and a staff that seems really dedicated to a great guest experience. If there is an issue, they resolve it if they know about it. This is from firsthand experience.
Breakfast service is excellent. The whole hotel has everything we like and I recommend it for anyone who is ok paying more and getting more.
We stayed May 16-19 2024 and were very satisfied with the facility and our 2 queen room.”

“We stayed on the third floor, and I must say it is an absolutely gorgeous view from the room! They have plenty of seating outside for guests to enjoy sitting by the ocean. The bed was very comfortable too. We came all the way from PA and I'm so glad we took a chance on this motel. I would definitely come back.

Walkability: About a 10-15 minute walk to some cute shops and dining.”

“Bed was pretty good. Good location. Pools are nice, although busy. Lots of kids.
Parking is tricky and it doesn’t appear to be sufficient. Tight spaces and lots of SUVs and trucks. If you are in a room that connects to another, be prepared for noise if there are kids .

Rooms: Ok

Nearby activities: York beach isn’t far.

Safety: Parking is bad. Be careful.

Walkability: Close to beach!

Food & drinks: No clue. I’m GF and drive to what I can eat.

Noteworthy details: None”

“Beautifully updated with close proximity to shops etc, only downfall was the rooms. Paying too much for no closet, no drawers and no microwave. Portsmouth is known for restaurants, we werent able to enjoy any leftovers, or unpack our bags. Very strange!”

“Friendly and excellent staff. Cleanliness is always a top priority. Nice, quaint, quiet place to stay.

Nearby activities: Kittery outlets shopping 15 minutes to Portsmouth nh”

“Had a 5 night stay around Memorial Day weekend. Inn is friendly, affordable, quaint, and clean. Breakfast is included and very tasty.
Every morning we awakened to beautiful birdsong. Grounds are lovely, the saline pool is a real bonus.”

“I enjoyed my stay at the Ale House Inn. It’s conveniently located in charming Portsmouth, NH and an easy to walk to restaurants, coffee shops, shopping, etc. They do not have desk staff after 3pm but their communication was FANTASTIC and we knew exactly where to park, how to enter the building, how to enter our rooms via electronic key, who to contact if we needed anything and their response time was so fast. I would definitely stay again if I’m in the area.

Rooms: My room was quaint, it wasn’t fancy but it had everything I needed for my stay. My colleague and I noted that our rooms had probably the most comfortable hotel bed we’ve ever slept in.

Walkability: Portsmouth is a darling town. It felt sleepy and safe while we were there (April) and I don’t think I would hesitate to walk by myself, if I were alone. There were lots of restaurants, bars, and shopping nearby.

Noteworthy details: The only thing that someone may want to know about is there is a large-ish stairway leading up to the entrance and no elevator until you enter the building. That could be an issue for someone with physical limitations or heavy luggage. I don’t recall it being mentioned when I booked my stay but could absolutely make a difference for someone on whether it is a good fit for them.”

“Rooms: The rooms are very comfortable. The beds are also most comfortable and I felt like I slept on the cloud of fresh air. There was fresh coffee to make in the rooms if you choose to.

Nearby activities: There were plenty of restaurants and the beach was not so far from the best Western.

Food & drinks: The Continental breakfast served at the Best Western is one of the greatest. There are so many different options to choose from eggs, scrambled or non scramble, sausage links, to pancakes and different cereals to choose from. Also they have bagels, toast , cereals of all different kinds. There is also yogurt and fresh fruit.”

“Although this is a Hampton hotel, it was much nicer than the typical hotel. It's right in downtown Portsmouth close to all the restaurants and shopping. Room was clean, comfortable bed and basics provided. It's valet parking but included in the stay. The manager was incredible and extremely helpful as well as professional.”

“Great hotel, good location and good service. It’s just a solid Hilton with great proximity to Portsmouth and beaches in Kittery. Room was clean and staff was kind. Breakfast was exactly what you’d expect.”

“First of all, I do not normally leave reviews BUT after reading the reviews for the York Beach Surf Club I felt I needed to. The checkout process was great! Location is great! Room had a balcony which I was surprised by, but also great. Do not let the negative reviews deter you from staying here. My husband and I have stayed at The Dive Motel in Nashville and are regulars at The Verb hotel in Boston and this is just as fun!”

“Hotel was great clean rooms. Staff was great helpful if we needed to know how to get around the area. We were doing a over night trip for our one year wedding anniversary. We definitely stay there again if we plan to go back to portsmouth. Breakfast in the morning was nice too.”

“After a very long road trip of over 1500 miles in one day, I stayed here for a night. The staff was very friendly, accommodating, and very kind. They showed compassion for how tired I was after the long road trip I just took, and were very helpful when I asked for food recommendations nearby. The room was spacious, super clean (and I mean incredibly clean like you would expect from a Marriott standard), bed was comfortable, shower supplies were plentiful, etc... I have nothing bad to say about this place. It was truly great. Thank you so much for the 5-star experience.”

“I consider the room and service above average for the price I paid. No issues with room service or amenities. My work schedule did not afford me an opportunity to try the onsite restaurant and I am not a drinker so I did not try the bar either.

Rooms: Room was clean, comfortable with mini fridge, microwave and Keurig coffee maker. I was on the third floor and my window was fully operable, which was nice for the cool night air. There was a good selection of pillows and the mattress was in good condition. Decent work area and the TV could be used with a Fire Stick, Roku, etc., with WiFi sufficient to stream shows.

Walkability: The location is close to downtown Portsmouth (close enough to walk if walking is something you enjoy).”

“WOW!!! This hotel is an EXCELLENT EXCELLENT PLACE!!! My husband and I were gifted a night here in early May ( so it's the off season) when we arrived the desk clerk who checked us in, upgraded us to the 3rd floor corner room facing the ocean so we had a balcony plus 3 window view of the beach and ocean. For this midwest girl that was amazing! The food downstairs was good and the waitress and waitress in training were great! The location is perfect for walking to lots of little shops and the Beach Bliss Coffee shop! Will leave a review for them on Their own site but they deserve a shout out here too! All the locals we met were so kind and friendly! Definitely would boom and stay here again!Oh and they still have actual for real keys for the rooms!!!Safety: Very safe and friendlyWalkability: Close to alot of little shopsNoteworthy details: This is the 1st hotel I have stayed In that jad all the normal toiletries but also a.sha r cream and razor kit, a little needle amd thread kit with several colors of thread, a toothbrush Toothpaste kit-in the room!!! No need to ask for them at the desk! We noticed that the rooms were exceptionally cleaned things in excellent order ... down to the outlet screws being perfectly aligned ? small details but they took it to next level!!! Lastly the beds and the towels .. bed was absolutely the most comfortable, and they had plenty of towels In The room. Oh amd the windows open with a screen so you can sleep to the sound of the ocean!”

“Got a room with a hot tub in it Wicked nice I got the Prescott Park Suite beautiful rum good price but there was rips in the shade and there was no batteries in the remote in one room and couldn't get the TV to work in another and there were two lights with blown bulbs other than that great room”

“We spent 3 nights at this hotel in Kittery. Breakfast every morning included(waffles, eggs, toasts, cereals, coffee, juice, muffins etc.), pool and fitness center downstairs. Our room has a lot of space with a queen bed, TV, desk with a chair, fridge and microwave. My only negative point if that the maid did not come to change the towels during our stay. It is an affordable hotel and I highly recommend it if you stay in Kittery.”

“I have stayed here twice now and so far it's been pretty decent! I would highly recommend the deluxe room because it has a mini fridge and a microwave, although if it's just for a night a standard room is great. They have comfy pillows and decent blankets. Rooms have been clean and rates were under a hundred bucks which is insanely awesome due to the holidays and such! I have now become an M6 member as I do intend to stay more often!Walkability: Across the street from many restaraunts including longhorns, Texas Roadhouse and McDonald's as well as the movie theater and there are many outlets as well as the fox run mall.”
