Packing team was a wonderful bunch! We got the impression that everyone wanted to do their very best work. Everyone was courteous and careful. This would have been a 5-star review if not for the delivery team and some damaged items.
- Our packed items were sealed with brown tape, unfortunately they didn't paper-pack all items and the tape melted into/bonded with many of the surfaces.
- They wrapped the furniture in blankets going ONTO the truck, but unloading, they scratched and broke corners on different pieces when setting everything on top of each other at the destination. Why not be careful all the way? Wood on wood scratches when dragged!
- A high quality solid wood bed frame split with the pressure, as screws were placed in it uncentered. Very disappointing.
The delivery team was the driver and two young men, one of them fell twice due to exhaustion, and they were not wiling to unpack anything claiming that it would make them "have to work late". There was so much complaining that I just let them go.
Overall, the use of packing paper was excessive. For example, I found 2 pens (the cheap kind) wrapped in 3 large sheets of paper. Some boxes were 80% paper with unbreakable items in it. This was a recurring situation. Such a waste of resources! (Thankfully, they are picking up the packing material in a few weeks.)
The "parts box" had two little packets of screws (most screws remained in the furniture) and the rest was spices (for the kitchen) and trash.
Also, they literally took things from the rental property that CLEARLY were not ours: turnplate from the microwave (???), piece of the dishwasher rack (one of them wad packing clean dishes from the final load), shelves that they had taken out with the clothes. Just hoping that we can get it back to the owner somehow...who does that??
The rating is largely based on these details, the understaffed delivery team & damages.

I DO NOT recommend this company. We have moved many times and this was our worst experience with an interstate move, from NH to PA. From the lack of price transparency, the damage to our furniture, the poor customer service and poor planning on McLaughlin's part, the move was a disaster. The day of the move from a 4 bedroom house, McLaughlin scheduled a small truck with a driver ( who informed us upon his arrival that he could not move anything) and one person to move everything. The customer service person, Lori, had to come out to the house to assess what was happening and try and find more help. They had agreed to pack certain items- but did not bring any supplies. Our furniture was placed in storage for 3 months, and arrived at our home with significant damager. Despite the additional insurance we paid for, McLaughlin is only reimbursing us a small percentage of the total damage. DO NOT use them, Save yourself the aggravation we have gone through.

This is my second cross-country move with Mayflower/McLaughlin, and I recommend this company enthusiastically. They had the best prices, offered a containerization option so that all my items stayed safely together for the whole trip, and provided responsive and reliable customer service from the initial estimate to the on-time delivery. Eric G was so helpful with the initial estimating and planning process and even brought me packing boxes and supplies for things I was packing myself; he was totally dependable and stayed in touch from start to finish. Lori B was great in admin and scheduling, and very accommodating to my timing constraints. The packing and delivery crews were very careful and helpful. I know so many horror stories about movers, and I’m glad to have a good experience to report to help others deal with what is usually a very stressful process. Thank you, Mayflower!

I have had 9 major moves with most of the big moving company names. This was the first time I used a Mayflower company. I have no issues with Mayflower, but McLaughlin is the worst moving company I've ever had! I had many broken items and for the first time, had to file numerous claims on broken items. The packers they sent me were the worst. One guy they pulled out of retirement and you could tell he didn't want to be there. He took items from my kitchen and dumped them into boxes without wrapping anything. They did this all over the house. Items that should've been put in a box weren't. My goods were supposed to be put in storage until we were ready for them and they sat in the moving van for 3 months before they were put into storage! And this was during June, July and August. When I spoke with the owner Marty, his response was, "well I stored them for you." But not in the way I wanted and not in the way I paid for! He was totally unreasonable, did not apologize for anything and was a nightmare even for the Mayflower corporation to deal with. Total frustration. Moving from Derry NH to Summerville SC,, furniture picked up November 8th, was told initially delivery of the 14th or 15th, we heard NOTHING, we had to track down someone at McLaughlin , after she said she would call with an update, she never called back. Now we have a delivery date of November 19th!! Stuck in a hotel at a cost. Extremely DISAPPOINTED with this service

The move with Mayflower was fantastic from the beginning with contacting Eric who did our home visit. Afterwards, speaking with Lori, who spearheaded the entire trip. She made this process for me and my family seamless and answered all my questions. Lori provided me with step by step process which was very informative and more importantly, comforting.She treated my personal belongings as if they were her personal belongings. The driver Tom, was absolutely personable, professional , and communicative on every step throughout the process from New Hampshire to Georgia.Thank you Lori and the team at Mayflower Transit for a fantastic memorable business experience!!!!!Jane and Angel

McLaughlin movers moved me from Yarmouth, Maine to Phoenix, Arizona a week ago. It was an absolutely amazing experience with them. My first interaction was with Marissa to get estimates and start the process. Next, I worked with Lori to coordinate the move. Along the way, I had MANY questions and both of them answered my questions in a timely manner and to my satisfaction. On moving day, a crew of two people came to pack and load my stuff, some of which was quite fragile. About a week later, the items got delivered to my new place. The delivery was very smooth, in fact spectacular. The large truck would not fit into my apartment complex. The crew went and rented a medium size UHaul, transferred my stuff from the 18 wheeler to the UHaul and delivered it to my apartment. To the credit of the packing and the delivery crew, not one thing was broken, dented, cracked, or missing. Even my very delicate wine glasses came in one piece. I would HIGHLY recommend McLaughlin Moving to anyone who wants to do a local, intra-state, or inter-state move. Kudos to the company staff, the packing crew, and the delivery crew!!

It's been almost 2 months since I filed my claim with McLaughlin and the company has been completely nonresponsive. I'm pretty sure the phone number they gave me for their "claims team" is fake. My regular emails pleading for any update have just been ignored. I'm at the point where my only path to resolution is disputing the moving expense with my bank or moving onto legal action.Again, just avoid doing business with McLaughlin if you can. These guys are complete and total crooks.

Said they could do the job. It was a last minute, high stress move, and they knew the closing of the home was contingent upon moving out. So they said they could do it— morning of, they show up and cancel, and don’t even refund the full amount of money. Just the worst.

My first big move went well thanks to a lot of customer service from Lori and Eric, answering all my many questions about cubesheets, times, dates, etc., and dealing with a city to city move. We were glad to have the actual driver come to load and shuttle our stuff rather than a local crew and would highly recommend that.

Everything went fine up through the survey. Then after they sent me the quote, they stopped answering their phone and email for three days. Then after finally becoming responsive again, I was told that they wouldn't be able to do the move on the previously-agreed date of Saturday, April 2 and would have to move to April 4, costing me half a workday. The two guys who showed up for the move did their best, but were not physically fit for the job and struggled mightily with it; one of them injured himself. Made an already inherently stressful day that much worse.

My move went very smoothly from the quote to scheduling to the move. Everyone was great throughout the process. The move team was on time, took care in moving my furniture and was a pleasure. I highly recommend.

terrible experience- told it would take 3 days to pack things- team came and said that they could easily finish in two days- then they did not finish and could not even get it all on one truck- had to send second truck days later- had to change my flight out 2 times and sleep on the floor due to their incompetence- I get a call after and I ask if the bill is paid in full and I am told it was- months later I get another bill for over 800.00 - took weeks and multiple trips to deliver my stuff- do not use- I have moved over 20 times and this is the worst I have ever seen or experienced - do not use-

I enjoyed my move day! I had excellent support from Lori my move coordinator beforehand in prepping and signing move documents. Lori was calm and procedural in helping us get ready. Ken and Scott were like Enlightened moving partners, funny, professional. I watched them do the impossible. Clearly not their first rodeo. They were a rare and unusual mix of personable, helpful and disarming. Everything was done so fast, I almost wanted more time just to hang out with them.!! Bravo!

While our move was an extremely difficult one due to personal reasons, the McLaughlin team did a wonderful job. They not only helped us with our move but also provided much needed emotional support. Our driver, Ken was truly awesome! Our move coordinator Lori was tremendous, answering all our questions in a timely manner. Thank you McLaughlin team for doing a great job
